...billion and $6.5 billion in 2000. Forrester Research predicts a $22 billion year for the industry in 2004. 17 Competition The competitive landscape is best understood by segmenting the market into three primary groups: Brick and Mortar Media Companies – XXY, XYX. eTailing Companies - ZZZ, YXY and YZX Pure Content Companies – ZZY, YYY Unlike large online shopping malls where Big Jungle dominates the marketplace, an analysis of online competitive shopping landscape shows that there are no major online content/shopping experience companies that dominate the Internet marketplace. Large online shopping malls will remain focused on gaining market share through growing product offerings. For example Big Jungles strategy of offering ZZZ’s first, music second, electronics third, and now toys confirms their strategy of providing “everything to everyone,” by gaining market share through product acquisition. Pipedream.com has the opportunity to become the dominant online experienced based retailer by developing a unique approach to online shopping that will provide content services that focus strictly on the needs of our consumer, sponsor, advertising and syndicate partners. Brick and Mortar Media Companies In the non-Web world, there are many avenues for consumers to engage in sports shopping. They include such resources as television, newspaper, magazine, and sports shows. While these alternatives will always be available, it is prevalent that a significant......

Argument Essay

..."We have to get my daughter up at 5:30 in the morning. It takes a few alarms to get her out of bed. How do they expect children to be alert and ready to learn when they're not getting the proper amount of sleep?” It’s my junior year this year and I couldn’t be more overwhelmed with school. I have test to study for tests, do homework in pretty much every subject and then I have to try to have a social life. By the time that is all done it’s at least 11pm before I go to bed on the weeknights. Then, I have to get up early again the next morning. This year though, I took a PSEO class. For PSEO at my school you do not have to be on the high school campus for the hour you have it. Luckily for me I have it first hour so I can get a little extra ZZZ’s in the morning. With only being about four weeks into the school year, I have noticed that the extra hour of sleep in the morning has made me more focused and awake during the day. By being more awake during the day I have noticed that I have been getting better grades on test and homework assignments. It is also a scientifically proven fact that schools that start later have students who are more ready for the day and their brains are more awake. In Mark Fischetti’s article, Sleepy Teens, it state that numerous schools that have delayed their start times have shown that academic performances have improved. The bonus points are that the attendance has gone up, teen depression has gone down, and fewer student drivers have gotten......

...the same time, find another meal (like breakfast or an evening snack) when your family can sit together and review the day's events. Balance Bedtime Establishing a bedtime -- and keeping to it every single night -- can be highly effective, but Borb further suggests turning off the computer and TV at least 30 minutes beforehand. If your child has access to a cell phone, she recommends taking it before bedtime because "62 percent of kids admit they use it after the lights go out -- and their parents are clueless!" In 2005 researchers at Tel Aviv University found that missing just one hour of sleep can be enough to reduce a child's cognitive abilities by almost two years the following day. Barb says that a sixth grader who loses precious zzz's the night before a big test could end up performing at a fourth- grade level. Dole Out Endless Hugs Giving your child a number of hugs throughout the day will help ease any tension she may be feeling. "There's nothing like the human touch to give a child a sense of security," says Heim. Studies of neglected children have shown that kids who don't receive affection can suffer from chronic stress, which can disturb the parts of the brain involved in focusing, learning, and memory. A study in the American Journal of Public Health, published in 2005, reports that touching another person gently has the power to alleviate symptoms -- emotional, behavioral, and physical -- related to stress. Not only will hugging your little one improve her......
