Young, Wild and Free

...Young, Wild and Free “So what we get drunk. So what we smoke weed. We're just having fun. We don't care who sees. So what we go out. That's how its supposed to be. Living young and wild and free.” This is a portion of the song Young, Wild and Free by Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. This song truly defines who are the youth today. We cannot deny the fact that the youth is different and living life without thinking the consequences of their actions. This is the best time of our lives while we are young, curious and free so we must value and be grateful because it will only come once in our life. We can enjoy and have fun once in a while but we must bear in mind that we also have responsibilities to fulfill, not only for ourselves but also for our country. Have we forgotten what Dr. Jose Rizal said? According to our national hero, “The youth is the hope of our nation.” He believes in us and has a strong faith that we could do something for our country. It is not a burden on our shoulders but this is a duty we must do. We should give back, not only for heroes who fought and died for our independence but also for our motherland where we were born, grew and lived. The term – nation building or national development, is usually used to refer to a constructive process of engaging all citizens in building social cohesion, economic prosperity and political stability in a nation in an inclusive and democratic way. Going by the definition, it is seen that all citizens are to be......

Wiz of Oz

...Alfredo Dorame English per.2 Wizard of Oz themes The movie the wizard of Oz is known as one of the most know movies in America for showing a real interesting storyline. Of how one little girls ends up in a beautiful nonrealistic world. This movie is known for its storyline but while watching the movie I have found many different types of themes. One of the themes I have noticed is a very simple that your dreams can come true. I realized this theme do to many factors in this storyline. All throughout the whole movie Dorthy, tin man, lion, and the scarecrow had set their goals to get to the wizard. Specifically, this theme is made up for the characters of Dorothy Gale, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin man. Each one of them respectively has a strong desire to get back home or to find courage, a heart and brains. Not as famous as the “dreams can come true” theme but I did notice another theme “you can get what you want” is another them that I have located in the movie the wizard of oz. As it is pretty much seen in the movie Dorthy wants to go home and she makes her way the yellow brick road to the wizard and the wizard takes her home. It is pretty noticeable in all the other Character which were the scarecrow, loin, and the tin man that they all wanted something. If there was anything stopping them they wouldn’t let that happen. So in the end the theme “ you can get what you want” is practically the same it just can be meant...

Theoretical Legalization

...“Theorists who take the interactionist perspective generalize about everyday forms of social interaction in order to explain society as a whole” (Schaefer, 2011). Interactionism deals heavily in symbols. There are many symbols to be associated with drugs as a whole. They range in Rx for pharmacies to green plus signs used to represent a medical marijuana friendly facilities. Marijuana users also use 420 as a sort of secret code to let other marijuana users know it is time to smoke. In a lot of inner cities, it is believed that tennis shoes thrown over power lines is a symbol to let users know that drugs are sold in the immediate area. Music and movies also offer a lot of symbols for drugs. Artists like Snoop Dogg, Redman, Too $hort and Wiz Khalifa do not hesitate to push their pot agendas via music lyrics. Signs are on t-shirts as well with all of the different terminology in full view. In closing, I believe it is safe to say that drugs can be looked at from any of the three theoretical aspects and argued very effectively. The overall outcome would be totally dependent on the views of the person presenting the topic. I believe it is more beneficial to our country to go ahead and legalize all controlled substances. The fact that drugs is more readily available is not going to drive the number of addicts up any more than banning the sale of firearms is going to end gun violence. The key would be to use the revenue generated to help rehabilitate addicts through......

Field Trip/Hip-Hop & Dance routine is more fun than I thought it would be. I thought we were going to see a play in the theatre. Come to find out we were going to be taught a choreographed hip hop routine. This was a new experience for me. I was afraid of trying at first but then I realized it wasn’t that serious, so I calmed down and just danced. It was only me and Mississippi (a fellow classmate) and two other females that I didn’t know dancing when we started. It was supposed to be the whole class, but they didn’t want to dance because they were afraid of looking bad. I just wanted to have fun and I did because I have never done some of the things the dance instructor told use to do. We were dancing to a rappers song called “Work Hard, Play Hard” by Wiz Khalifa. It made it just a little bit easier that we danced to a song that I knew. If given the same opportunity again I would do it again. I had fun because we looked like we belonged in an Usher video or something when we got through. Another plus was that there were a couple of nice young ladies dancing as well, and that’s never a bad thing. All in all that was a new learning experience in my life that I never expected to happen. I just wish I could remember the dance so I could show it to other people....

This improvement is especially apparent in the world of architecture and civil engineering, where there has been an unremitting ambition to surpass the existing boundaries, particularly with regards to height. The most renowned early example of a structure where height was key are the Pyramids of Giza where elevation was crucial in order to radiate power and divine authority. The tallest pyramid, standing at 146.5m, was built more than 4500 years ago, and remained the tallest manmade structure for the next 3800 years, until the 1300s when Lincoln Cathedral was built topping it by only 13.5m......

See You Again

...See You again, by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth is a song that appeared in Furious 7 as a tribute to Paul Walker. The lyrics are the main focus, but is heavily assisted by the music. See You Again emits a very emotional aura. The song begins with a repeating piano line that sets  the emotional mood for the song. The voice of Charlie follows with the main focus being on the lyrics and the melody. Charlie’s voice really adds the emotional impact in this song as his high notes are filled with such delicate intensity. There is a change in pace in the song when Khalifa’s slow rapping follows Puth’s soothing voice. After Khalifa’s part, all of the background instrumentals become quiet as Puth voice and the piano appear, causing a more prominent emotional impact. The shift from Khalifa’s rapping accompanied by a lot of background music to Puth’s soulful voice with just the soft accompaniment of the piano creates a goosebump worthy musical experience. What makes this song so emotional for the listener is how relatable it can be. Unlike many other emotional songs, the lyrics to this song can be applied to almost any person who has lost a loved one. Even though I have not lost anyone close to me, I still feel very emotional when listening to the song. This fact illustrates the powerful effect this song has on the listener. The music does not merely support the vocals, instead they support each other, and make the other that much more impactful to the listener. In particular, the......
