Abstract
The intended purpose of week five’s assignment is for me to evaluate our chosen virtual organization. The virtual organization that was appointed to learning team A was Kudler’s Fine Foods. Within, this paper I will evaluate the selected virtual organization website, and discuss the intended audience for this site as well. I will then go over the design criteria that I created in week two and provide a description of why I selected and considered the ratings for each category to be of importance. Next, I will explain the results of the comparative review I performed on the three similar sites, and provide an appendix of the completed evaluation. A detailed analysis of the assigned virtual organization website will also be explored inside this paper along with a description of the changes I made in my prototype/mockup accompanied by a screenshot image. Lastly, an explanation of how I would use metadata or other promotional tools to promote the redesigned website, followed by a closing explanation of how the website changes will help the virtual organization to become more successful in the future.
In today’s society an online presence is the most effective way to reach the masses. Therefore, the way a website is designed is crucial to the success of the company. Websites want to provide a great first impression when prospects want to get to know more about the business, its mission, or the company’s vision. A website must capture ones attention, and be visually appealing. Furthermore, over the last five week’s learning team A collaboratively analyzed, evaluated, and redesigned our selected virtual organization website Kudler’s Fine Foods, and applied the effective design concepts that we learned throughout this course. Kudler’s Fine Foods is a gourmet food shop. Owner Kathy Kudler opened this business because she wanted to provide her customers with a wide…...

Virtual Organization

...Virtual Organization for Riordan Manufacturing Virtual Organization for Riordan Manufacturing Many companies today are looking to create virtual organizations for their businesses because of the innovation and organizational improvement it can provide. Creating an intranet in a virtual organization to hold shareable company data is the best form of communication between all employees. The intranet can be protected from outside interference by using the correct security measures. While reviewing the virtual organization for Riordan Manufacturing, there were some inconsistencies in the home page, accounting and finance, and human resources section that can be improved on. Home Page The home page is the most important web page for a user because it prepares and sets the tone for navigation and functionality. A glaring omission from the Riordan home page is the purpose of the Intranet and its usefulness for employees. Currently, the home page contains the mission statement, company facts, and a brief history. While this information is important, we would recommend creating a separate page named “About”, or placing it under the current link of “Riordan Industries”, which would be a more appropriate location. Our recommendation for the home page would be to include more details about the intranet itself. What is an intranet? Why is it important? Who are the users? These questions are very important, especially for someone who is new to the company. Additionally,...

Virtual Organization

...Virtual Organization: Riordan Manufacturing Learning Team B August 3, 2013 FIN370 Prof. Putnam, Richard There are many factors of strength that can be found in a company who’s going public, as well as the company understands that with going public, their real capital can be created. This capital can allow more money to go towards research and development, pay for current capital expenditures, or even help pay off existing debts (Investopedia, 2009). When an organization is publicly traded, this means that the public can notice a company on a much larger scale, than they would have in the past. There now is future potential of investors finding out of a company’s growing successes where they might not have heard of before as with the numbers being public, the success of the company also is shared (Investopedia, 2009). Another potential strength of going public is that of entrepreneurs if looking for a way out, or merely a way to cash out on a successful growing company, it’s a way to gain on that success. (Investopedia, 2009) <-THIS NEEDS MORE SENTENCES Although there is much strength to going public through an IPO, there are also many weaknesses. As we choose to go public we will have to consider the challenges of fully disclosing our company information for investors and publishing our financial records to be in accordance with Securities Exchange Act of 1934. In addition, we need to consider the added cost of complying with additional government regulations......

...Week 2 DQ2 – Two parts  • The process of creating and maintaining a website typically involves both development and production environments. What is one reason for maintaining the two separate environments and the purpose of each? Explain. Is there a scenario for bringing the two together? Explain. •   • According to the Korgaonkar, O’Leary, and Silverblatt (2009) article, eight design factors have been found to help attract and retain site visitors. What two of the factors do you believe could be added to the site you are building for this class? Explain. How would they be incorporated into your class site, either now or in the future? Do you think they would be effective in attracting new or repeat visitors to your site? Explain why or why not. While developing the web design you are typically creating a flow chart for the web page or coming up with ideas that meet the goals of the project. Coming up with the targeted audience is active in the developing stage. When you start designing the webpage you are in the production stage. You begin to take your flowchart, ideas, targeted audience and turn them into a masterpiece. Playing with colors, images, and the overall layout is included in this stage obviously. However, you get to see the outcome before the webpage becomes reality so trial and error also occurs here. The two begin to come together whenever you start your production phase by implementing your ideas into HTML, Java, Flash, etc. You...

Post your response to the following: What is DNS? How do users benefit from it? Provide a brief description of the DNS process to resolve a URL to its IP address. DNS stands for Domain Name System and essentially operates like a phone book. It keeps a list of computer names and IP addresses. Instead of typing a numerical address into his or her web browsers address bar, a user can input the name of the computer (www. hotmail. com). The request is forwarded to the users computers DNS client, and from there to the DNS server, which then forwards the user to that specific address. For users who are not mathematically inclined, it is easier to remember and input the name of a computer than it is to remember and input all of the numbers and decimals in an IP address. Also, there is no reason for DNS to rely on TCp because usually, only a single data packet is used to send......
