Gke Task1

...GKE1 Task1 Student 320979 A. One significant environmental factor in the development of the Egyptian society is the Nile River. The Nile River made it possible for the Egyptian people “to form the first nation by 3000 BCE” (The Gift of the Nile, n.d.) From its rise to its fall the Egyptian civilization depended on the Nile River. The Nile focus created a more positive point of view for Egyptian society “for it could be seen as a source of never-failing bounty to be thankfully received, rather than a menacing cause of floods” (Guisepi, n.d.). The Nile River flooded yearly when the snow melted off of the East African mountains. The violent flow of water would turn up silt, fragments of plants and soil, and deposit them along its banks. The nutrient laden silt allowed the Egyptians to plant and cultivate crops. This natural resource created a vital ecological dynamic that aloud them to build an empire around. The Nile River also provided them a way to transfer goods and connect with others. “These contacts spread certain Egyptian influences, notably in monumental architecture, to other areas” (Guisepi, n.d.). The Egyptian people used the environment along the Nile River to their benefit and not only developed the land, but their culture as well. B. The first reference to charioteers in the civilized world comes from Syria around 1800 BCE (Plubins, 2013). Over the next 400 years the advancement, “either by direct migration of steppe people or by diffusion,” (Plubins, 2013)...

...------------------------------------------------- D1 Unit 4– Evaluate the appropriateness of business information used to make strategic decisions. ------------------------------------------------- D1 Unit 4– Evaluate the appropriateness of business information used to make strategic decisions. Strategic decisions made by Amazon. Inc: Amazon uses a lot of information from different sources to help them make important strategic decisions. Some of these decisions include lowering prices and market judgement. Many of their important decisions are made with data. Lowering Prices: Amazon has made a decision to continuously and significantly lower prices for customers year after year as their efficiency and scale make it possible. When they lower prices, they don’t just look at the numbers, which always says that the smart move is to raise prices. They have significant data related to price elasticity. With fair accuracy, they can predict that a price reduction of a certain percentage will result in an increase in units sold of a certain percentage. With rare exceptions, the volume increase in the short term is never enough to pay for the price decrease. However, their quantitative understanding of elasticity is short-term. We can estimate what a price reduction will do this week and this quarter. But they cannot numerically estimate the effect that consistently lowering prices will have on the business over five years or ten years or more. Their judgment is that......

Unit 13 Managing Human Resources in Health and Social Care

...Unit 13 Managing Human Resources in Health and Social Care 1.1 Explain the factors to be considered when considering the recruitment of individuals to work in health and social care The first factor to be considered when planning employment is the overall aim of the recruitment with a particular focus on what the organization wants to achieve. For example, whilst some recruitment may be to replace an existing worker due to retirement or career advancement, other recruitment may be due to the creation of a new job role. In the latter case, the organization needs to have a clear understanding of the skill set, competence, education and experience levels of the individual they want to recruit. From this, the organization then needs to consider the availability of workers, that fulfill the job requirements, that either already work for the organization or who reside within the area. If such workers are not available, the organization must then consider the financial implications associated with either training individuals to the required levels or offering remuneration and relocation incentives to encourage skilled workers in from other areas. Once these decisions have been made, the organization then needs to consider how to attract the right candidates for the available roles. Advertisement of jobs in areas where there are adequate skilled workers in the local area is commonly carried out in local newspapers and in the local Job Centre, however, where this local......

In this case, would it be better to use the variable or absorption costing method, and why? In the case of the Polk Company, it would be better to use absorption costing method, because it only includes overhead that is allocated to the 80,600 units sold. The absorption costing method will show lower loss to help keep the confidence of the shareholders in the company. Absorption costing will give a true and fair view of the financial position of the Polk Company.   The variable method will count fixed overhead as a period expense, such as fixed overhead for this period is calculated on the basis of the 95,500 units that are produced. Using the absorption method will give management a clearer picture of the fishing lures profitability. What are the benefits of the two methods? The benefits of absorption costing are that it recognizes fixed costs in product cost. As it determines the price of the product, and the price based on absorption costing does ensure that all costs are covered. Absorption can provide management with accurate information concerning product cost. The variable method is beneficial by providing an output that is closer to the cash flow of the company that may be short on cash flow. Variable costing aids in the analysis of cost-volume – profit by separating the variable and fixed in the income statement is another benefit. ...
