Some Truths Are Not Self-Evident

...Sanchez1 Professor Judith K. Gooch American Government 2301/2 6 August 2013 Some Truths Are Not Self-Evident In the article "Some Truths Are Not Self-Evident", the author; Howard Zinn's main point is that The United States of America's Constitution did not really do nothing much for their citizens, instead the citizens were and are the ones who have had and will have the courage to get their rights seen by the country. I actually do agree with Zinn’s opinion, The biggest role The United States Of America’s Constitution plays in citizens actions is to write down laws, However The Constitution is a document that has just a little of importance at the time of talking about justice, liberty, and democracy among citizens in The United States of America. Howard Zinn focused on five main issues of justice and liberty that lead to his conclusion. Those five issues are the matter of racial equality, free speech, economic justice, sexual equality, and when war approaches. When he mentioned racial equality he focused on black people. This issue was a huge problem in the United states back in time and it has decreased as of now but, not only among black people but colored people as well. Zinn mentions different movements that were taken by people; citizens from the country to abolish slavery. Thanks to those social movements laws were created, like the fourteenth and fifteenth Amendments. The actions taken by the citizens in the United States were outside the ...

Some Comparisons

...As a former Soviet citizen and Soviet Jew, I experienced a huge discrimination in the USSR. All Soviet citizens had passports with a record of nationality in them. Some people had Russian nationality, some Ukranian nationality, and some, like me, had a Jewish record on the first page. We needed to show a passport when applying for jobs, getting housing, or entering University. And when you had a Jewish record it was like being a registered sex offender in the US today. Jews were pariahs in the USSR. You should not tell anybody you were a Jew. Some Russian people would beat you. Silently, the Soviet government supported this. When I was a child, some neighbors knew we were Jews, so they sent their kids to fight with me. I was beaten many times, just because of the Jewish Scarlett Letter. The Soviet Police were responsible for maintaining the passport system, and putting the Scarlett Jewish ID there. This looks just like the situation for sex offenders in many states today. When their neighbors learn a sex offender family has moved next door, the sex offenders and their families are hassled, possibly their houses attacked, and some sex offenders have even been killed. After graduating from high school I was going to Leningrad University. A University worker asked for my passport. He made a note about nationality, and told me there are too many Jews here. As a result I got an F on my first test, and could not enter University. I was an A+ student in high school. When I......

Some of the Outsiders

...thought I was the only person in the world that did. So I loned it. Soda tries to understand, at least, which is more than Darry does. But then, Soda is different from anybody; he understands everything, almost. Like he's never hollering at me all the time the way Darry is, or treating me as if I was six instead of fourteen. I love Soda more than I've ever loved anyone, even Mom and Dad. He's always happy-go-lucky and grinning, while Darry's hard and firm and rarely grins at all. But then, Darry's gone through a lot in his twenty years, grown up too fast. Sodapop'll never grow up at all. I don't know which way's the best. I'll find out one of these days. Anyway, I went on walking home, thinking about the movie, and then suddenly wishing I had some company. Greasers can't walk alone too much or they'll get jumped, or someone will come by and scream "Greaser!" at them, which doesn't make you feel too hot, if you know what I mean. We get jumped by the Socs. I'm not sure how you spell it, but it's the abbreviation for the Socials, the jet set, the West-side rich kids. It's like the term "greaser," which is used to class all us boys on the East Side. We're poorer than the Socs and the middle class. I reckon we're wilder, too. Not like the Socs, who jump greasers and wreck houses and throw beer blasts for kicks, and get editorials in the paper for being a public disgrace one day and an asset to society the next. Greasers are almost like hoods; we steal things and drive old......

...Southern rock is a category of the genre of rock music. It developed in the United States and varies from rock and roll, country, and blues and it is focused generally on electric or acoustic guitar and vocals. Southern rock plays a huge part in the influence of modern rock music. Important figures of southern rock include The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Widespread Panic, Creedence Clearwater, and many more that have influenced the southern rock culture greatly and some bands which are still paving the way for the future of southern rock music. Southern rocks origins lie mainly in the American South. In the 1950's many Southern Rock stars came about such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis but however in the 1960's British invasion and the rise of folk, and psychadelic rock shifted the focus away from Southern Rock and the rural south and to large cities like Liverpool, London, New York, and San Francisco. Although this shift changed interests in rock in the late 1960's bands revived roots of southern rock such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, and The band. Creedence Clearwater Revival was among the best southern rock group in the 1960's. Also known as Creedence or CCR consisted of a lead guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter. Some of the Main Causes for Cancer

...Some of the Main Causes for Cancer Cancer has been facing the world's population since the begin of the human history. Although scientists have found the cause and the cure for some kinds of cancer, some of the causes are still unknown. This disease is common in every region in the world. Who has never heard about someone near that died because a cancer? Every year millions of people die because of some kind of cancer, but researchers say that many of these deaths occur because these people had bad habits. Some common causes for cancer are excessive sun exposure, air pollution and unhealthy food. Firs of all, air pollution has been the main cause of lung cancer in the last years. Although scientists and doctors consider air pollution worst than smoking to cause lung cancer, industries around the world dispense tonnes of pollution in the atmosphere every year. As a result of the industrialization, earlier industrialized countries like China and India are one of the most polluted countries of the world. Also, fossil fuel burning from cars and household heating dispense high levels of toxic gases in the atmosphere. Air pollution is an arduous problem to be solved because it is a world problem, but there are others causes for cancer that can be avoided. One cause that can be avoided is excessive sun exposure that increase the person's chance of skin cancer because of the high concentration of UV rays. The UV rays cause sunburn that damages the skin cells, and repetitive......

...the Middle Kingdom c. 2040 BC, reaching a peak during the reign of Pharaoh Amenemhat III. A second period of disunity heralded the arrival of the first foreign ruling dynasty in Egypt, that of the Semitic Hyksos. The Hyksos invaders took over much of Lower Egypt around 1650 BC and founded a new capital at Avaris. They were driven out by an Upper Egyptian force led by Ahmose I, who founded the Eighteenth Dynasty and relocated the capital from Memphis to Thebes. The New Kingdom, c. 1550–1070 BC, began with the Eighteenth Dynasty, marking the rise of Egypt as an international power that expanded during its greatest extension to an empire as far south as Tombos in Nubia, and included parts of the Levant in the east. This period is noted for some of the most well known Pharaohs, including Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, Akhenaten and his wife Nefertiti, Tutankhamun and Ramesses II. The first historically attested expression of monotheism came during this period as Atenism. Frequent contacts with other nations brought new ideas to the New Kingdom. The country was later invaded and conquered by Libyans, Nubians and Assyrians, but native Egyptians eventually drove them out and regained control of their country.[5] The Thirtieth Dynasty was the last native ruling dynasty during the Pharaonic epoch. It fell to the Persians in 343 BC after the last native Pharaoh, King Nectanebo II, was defeated in battle. Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt (332 BC–641 AD)[edit] The Greek Ptolemaic queen......

Some of the Causes of Obesity

...Some of the Causes of Obesity Nantelle Watson Everest College Some of the Causes of Obesity Why is obesity spreading all over the U.S.? People cannot blame the food because the food doesn’t walk into our mouths. There are so many foods that are claimed to taste unbelievably good, they can’t be avoided. It is the foods that are unhealthy for our bodies that we choose to eat. Americans want to eat what we want then at the end of the day complain about how it made us gain weight or become obese. Obesity affects both adults and young children all over the U.S. and it’s become a huge problem over the years. People choose not to eat unhealthy after they find out they’re having heart trouble or breathing problems caused by obesity. Why wait until the last minute or until you’ve reached your last breath? To overcome obesity diet changes have to take place. Government data shows that in 2012 about 34.9% of the adults in the U.S. country were obese, which is about 35 pounds over a healthy weight. The obese percentage was about the same in 2010. Since 1960 the obesity rates are continuing to grow as decades go by. If nothing is done about obesity more death causes will happen each year because of obesity. There are ways to lose weight. Most people just refuse to take action. Exercising is the number one way to produce weight lost. Some believe you have to go to the gym to lose weight, but you don’t you can simply take walks each day and shed pounds. Setting a weight loss goal......

Some triggers a page fault. Keep in mind that when this bit is zero, the kernel can do whatever it pleases with the remaining fields. The R/W flag stands for read/write; if clear, the page is read-only. Flag U/S stands for user/supervisor; if clear, then the page can only be accessed by the kernel. These flags are used to implement the read-only memory and protected kernel space we saw before. Bits D and A are for dirty and accessed. A dirty page has had a write, while an accessed page has had a write or read. Both flags are sticky: the processor only sets them, they must be cleared by the kernel. Finally, the PTE stores the starting physical address that corresponds to this page, aligned to 4KB. This naive-looking field is the source of some pain, for it limits addressable physical memory to 4 GB. The other PTE fields are for another day, as is Physical Address Extension. A virtual page is the unit of memory protection because all of its bytes share the U/S and R/W flags. However, the same physical memory could be mapped by different pages, possibly with different protection flags. Notice that execute permissions are nowhere to be seen in the PTE. This is why classic x86 paging allows code on the stack to be executed, making it easier to exploit stack buffer overflows (it’s still possible to exploit non-executable stacks using return-to-libc and other techniques). This lack of a PTE no-execute flag illustrates a broader fact: permission flags in a VMA may or may not......

Some Words of Caution

...MUHAMMAD AMIR HAMZAH BIN MOHD ARIS 4141005251 PMS 3293 CHANGE MANAGEMENT SOME WORDS OF CAUTION    1. Expect some unanticipated outcomes : Although there is a link between action and outcome is very controllable and predictable, there are likely to be some unanticipated consequences reinforcing outcomes and counteracting outcomes. 2. Be alert to measurement limitations : Assessing success of innovative practices is an inherently complex and ambiguous challenge, and that is why it is required to be wholly and watchfully studied and researched.   3. Don’t declare victory too soon :   Do not declare the victory too soon because the result can be changed, but we can celebrate a win. As one said “Declaring the war won can sometimes be catastrophic”.  4. Beware of escalation of commitment :  Escalation means intensification, and there are four factors that can lead to escalation, and these include :- (a) Project determinants, (b) Psychological determinants, (c) Social determinants, and (d) Organizational determinants.  Seven practices that can help reduce escalation : (A) Don’t ignore negative feedback or external pressure. (B) Hire an external assessor to provide an independent view on progress. (C) Don’t be afraid to withhold further resources/funding; as well as limiting losses, it has symbolic value in that it is a fairly emphatic signal that there is concern with progress. (D) Look for opportunities to redefine the problem and thereby......

...Single channel vs. dual channel vs. triple channel – Installed in pairs for maximum throughput, memory frequencies should match, slots are often coloured the same o   Single sided vs. double sided – the groups of memory on a module that can be accessed and not the physical layout of the memory package ·         RAM compatibility and speed – DDR 3 RAM will not be compatible with any other version of RAM due to the pin assignments and slot at the bottom of the RAM. Speed is measured in MHz and is calculated by dividing the PC value by 8 example: PC-3200 = 3200/8 = 400 thus PC-3200 is in fact DDR-400Mhz * Chipset * Northbridge The Northbridge typically handles communications among the CPU, in some cases RAM, and PCI Express (or AGP) video cards, and the Southbridge. Some Northbridge also contain integrated video controllers, also known as a Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) in Intel systems. Because different processors and RAM require different signaling, a given Northbridge will typically work with only one or two classes of CPUs and generally only one type of RAM. There are a few chipsets that support two types of RAM (generally these are available when there is a shift to a new standard). For example, the Northbridge from the NVidia nForce2 chipset will only work with Socket A processors combined with DDR SDRAM; the Intel i875 chipset will only work with systems using Pentium 4 processors or Celeron processors that have a clock speed greater than 1.3......

Some Inspiration knees on the floor, I had already fallen asleep. Just a note of advice, when you get an idea about something that is church related in a good way, you should probably listen to it,…….but of course I was too lazy and forgot. Waking up the next morning was a little bit better even though I still hit my head on my way to turn off my alarm. I went through the routine of my morning and made it to the seminary with a similar feeling to the previous day. When each of the other council members took their seats, I felt something different. It was a pain of guilt that I had when we were asked if we had prayed for help to find the scripture the night before. Having not done so, I felt pretty bad, but was able to cover up my guilty face by eating some pretzels and smiling when someone told a funny joke. We were then instructed to go out into separate rooms by ourselves to search the Doctrine and Covenants for anything that could be our theme. I didn’t know what to expect, but I went out into a room and closed the door, I began to think of what on earth I should do. I remembered my previous guilt from not praying and decided to pray before I read. I read over the book for about twenty minutes and had a few scriptures that sounded alright, but none that really stuck out to me. After the council had returned to the room and discussed what we had found, there were over fifty different scriptures written on the board. I had no idea of how we were going to narrow that list down to one......

...device that supplies electric energy to an electrical load. The primary function of a power supply is to convert one form of electrical energy to another and, as a result, power supplies are sometimes referred to as electric power converters. Some power supplies are discrete, stand-alone devices, whereas others are built into larger devices along with their loads. Examples of the latter include power supplies found in desktop computers and consumer electronics devices. A CD-ROM /ˌsiːˌdiːˈrɒm/ is a pre-pressed optical compact disc which contains data. The name is an acronym which stands for "Compact Disc Read-Only Memory". Computers can read CD-ROMs, but cannot write on the CD-ROM's which are not writable or erasable. A network switch (sometimes known as a switching hub) is a computer networking device that is used to connect devices together on a computer network by performing a form of packet switching. A network switch is considered more advanced than a hub because a switch will only send a message to the device that needs or requests it, rather than broadcasting the same message out of each of its ports. A network switch is a multi-port network bridge that processes and forwards data at the data link layer(layer 2) of the OSI model. Some network switches have additional features, including the ability to route packets; these switches are commonly known as layer-3 or multilayer switches. Switches exist for various types of networks including Fibre......
