Selecting A Topic

As I’m completing my activities throughout the course, I have learned a new skill called "freewriting", which can be utilized to write whatever comes to mind about a subject underneath the prewriting stage. It is a continuous writing session that can last from 5-10 minutes with anything that comes to mind. This skill has changed my writing process in a way to enhance my prewriting strategies with greater ideas. I'm also getting detailed ideas on how to do create a topic outline and a sentence outline. With the detailed ideas through the course of writing I have learned how to use my outline to coordinate with the start and end of my rough draft. For example, adding what is on my outline to the rough draft with more detail and supporting sentences that follow it. I'm also getting better with my revising and editing stage by using my peers second look at an assignment. They are very here to help me make any corrections if necessary. From there, I continue double-checking my grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure making sure my writing flows.

Selecting a Handgun

...Selecting a Handgun In order to purchase a handgun that fits your needs, certain aspects such as action, caliber, weight, and features need to be considered. Getting all this right the first time can save time and money in the long run and increase safety. Also, purchasing the correct handgun can literally be the difference between life and death and should not be taken lightly. Prior to walking into a guns store or dealing with private party sales, you must learn the laws that pertain to your purchase. Politicians have the nasty habit of trying to keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens because they think it will make them safer. Therefore they sometimes try to make purchasing a handgun as complicated and expensive as possible. Knowing the laws could alleviate possible heartache down the road. Next is to decide on the purpose of the handgun. Is it for carry or to keep in the house? If for carry, normally a revolver is the best option because of the misfire correction is as simple as pulling the trigger again. A larger caliber is also desired for the one-hitter-quitter effect to immediately modify an attacker’s behavior. If kept in the house, you would want to consider buying one with several safeties to mitigate unwanted discharges. A newer style semi-automatic may be the choice. Also over penetration can be an issue, especially if living in the city or the suburbs. Therefore caliber and ammunition type must be decided upon. There are rounds out there, such...

...powder, lipstick, lotions and shampoos. In a food supermarket we can also buy many different things at once: sausages, fish, sugar, macaroni, flour, cereals, tea. At the butcher's there is a wide choice of meat and poultry. At the bakery you buy brown and white bread, rolls, biscuits. Another shop we frequently go to is the greengrocery which is stocked by cabbage, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots, beetroots, green peas and what not. If I’m not mistaken, everything is sold here ready-weighed and packed. If you call round at a dairy you can buy milk, cream, cheese, butter and many other products. To tell the truth the methods of shopping may vary. It may be a self-service shop where the customer goes from counter to counter selecting and putting into a basket what he wishes to buy. Then he takes the basket to the check-out counter, where the prices of the purchases are added up. If it is not a self-service shop, and most small shops are not, the shop-assistant helps the customer in finding what he wants. You pay money to the cashier and he gives you back the change.  Questions: 1. What do we do when we want to buy something?  2. What kinds of shops are there in every town?  3. Selecting Kpis

...Selecting KPIs Selecting the right metric is an art more than a science (Eckerson, 2005). The essential objective in selecting KPIs is to identify the measure that best communicates the meaning of a strategy (Kaplan & Norton, 1996). Each KPI measures the achievement of a certain strategic objective; and therefore managers should (1) understand very well the strategic objective and (2) select the KPI carefully to translate the achievement of this particular strategic objective. If managers do not understand the strategy or fail to select the right measure, management of the company may be misled by not measuring what needs to be measured. As Kaplan and Norton (1996) indicated, the art of defining the KPIs rests in the performance drivers (leading indicators) that enable the outcome KPIs (lagging indicators) to be achieved. Leading indicators are useful to have as they give the time to influence the outcomes KPI (Eckerson, 2005). There is a third type of KPI that can be selected which is the diagnostic indicator. The diagnostic indicators are not leading or lagging indicators; they measure the health of the operations just like measuring the human temperature that should always be under a certain level. While selecting the leading indicators for a certain outcome KPI, managers should do a brainstorm session to understand what drives the performance of this specific outcome KPI (lagging indicator). Good mix of KPIs should be (1) linked and aligned with strategic......

Selecting Strategy

...Colorado Technical University Online Campus Brian Sargeant October 30, 2015 Selecting Strategy Dr. Debra Baldwin Research Design Methods & Applications BADM440 INTRODUCTION The research I am going to do for this class is based on a problem that we as a country are facing in the day we live in. Businesses and institutions nationwide and even worldwide are struggling with how to deal with guns and how people use them. Most of this came about due to the recent spate of school shootings, culminating in the tragedy that happened at the Umpqua Community College outside of Roseburg, OR on Oct. 1. I live in the same town. Our town has come together in support of the students and staff of this college. Politicians of both parties have proposed different solutions to combat criminal usage of guns and the president has weighed whether or not to require gun dealers to initiate background checks on every sale. In addition, I have compiled for Phase 5 the results of my nonscientific survey and analyzed them below. I have also added for Phase 5 ethical considerations for my survey and a listing of the sample population I sent the survey to. I will also include a discussion about the measurement strategy I used for this project. The Topic What I am asking friends and family about in a survey is whether or not they think the government should be imposing gun control on the country or something else. Many people in government have bandied about several ideas. I don’t think any......

...Topic 1: What career would you like to choose after leaving school Model answer: Today, it is not easy to choose a career. Hundreds of students pass various examinations every year and compete with one another for positions in the various professions which are not so many as there are applicants. I would, however, like to choose teaching as my career. Teaching is an interesting career for several reasons. As a teacher I can learn many things, especially if I teach to an udder-secondary school. If I teach History or English, for example, I have to read many books to make my teaching lessons more interesting to my pupils. Thus, I can acquire more knowledge of the subjects that I teach than what I can learn from the class text books. It is indeed a fact that a teacher learns a lot from the class text books; but that is hardly enough to make the teacher's lessons interesting to pupils. A good teacher must therefore read many other books. Again, as a teacher, I have to speak well so that my pupils will be able to understand my instructions well. In this way I can improve my powers of expression. Even my pronunciation of words will improve to great extent. Further, as a teacher, I shall have enough leisure to read and prepare for various examinations. It is possible today to sit for many important examinations by studying entirely at home. Thus, I can acquire important qualifications. Finally, as a teacher I will be respected as an educated person. People will......
