Research
Management Dilemma and Research Question
The management dilemma in this ABC Shirt Corporation case is that there seems to be some change in sleeve preference in the western region. Management is concerned that the shift in consumer preferences may continue and intensify if news of a fresh West Nile Virus outbreak comes during the next summer season and needs to determine if they should include a “West Nile Virus” feature to the coming summer marketing campaign.
Hypothesis
Based on the management dilemma described above, a relational hypothesis is determined to be the most suitable type of hypothesis for this research study among proposition, descriptive hypotheses, and relational hypotheses. The hypothesis is defined as “Consumers in the western region prefer long sleeve shirts over short sleeve due to people’s concerns on the West Nile Virus outbreak in the region.”
Define Variables
The independent variable in the hypotheses is West Nile Virus outbreak news, and the dependent variable is increased demand/preference of long sleeve shirts.
Research Design
To execute the research and examine the hypotheses defined above, a survey research method is determined to be the most suitable method. The survey research method is a communication-based research method that allows researchers to learn much about people’s options and attitudes toward things happening around them. Since the purpose of this research is to examine the cause of people’s preference toward wearing long sleeve shirts, the survey research method is deemed to be best suitable.
Type of Sampling
The probabilistic stratified random sampling is utilized because it increases a sample’s statistical efficiency, provides adequate data for analyzing the various subpopulations, and enables different research methods and procedures to be used in different strata.…...

Alzheimer’s Disease Research Grants Project Proposal

...Alzheimer’s disease Research Grants Project Proposal The risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a form of dementia in which mental capabilities of an individual rapidly deteriorates, increases with age. Singapore is currently facing an ageing population and if a medical cure is not found soon, the number of cases of dementia patients is expected to increase by approximately 20,000 every 5 years from now. Hence, research is definitely needed in order to learn more about AD and hopefully find a cure. There are several possible post-translational modification (PTM) mechanisms that modify protein structure and function. 3 of such processes are Phosphorylation, Glycosylation and Proteolysis. PTM works with other mechanisms to control eukaryotic gene expression. Such mechanisms include alternative splicing, and histone modification. Alternative splicing is the process where exons created during transcription are joined in multiple different ways during RNA splicing. Histone acetylation loosens chromatin structure and enhances transcription, while DNA methylation reduces transcription. From the Fig 2 above, we can see that the greater the phosphate content in tau protein in the brain, the greater the risk of AD. Hence, excessive phosphorylation increases the risk of AD. Phosphorylation of tau protein regulates its activity to bind to microtubules and stimulate their assembly. A normal level of phosphorylation is required for tau protein optimal function, whereas......

Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal

...Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal Tamra Sanders Nur/598- Research Utilization Project June 2, 2014 Patricia Dehof Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal In the United States, 15-25% of patients who are in the hospital have urinary catheters and 75% of urinary tract infections are associated with a urinary catheter. The most vital risk for acquiring a catheter-associated UTI (CAUTI) is the extended use of a urinary catheter. Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) causes an increase in morbidity, mortality, hospital cost, and length of stay. There are approximately 380,000 infections and 9000 deaths related to CAUTI’s per year. CAUTI’s can increase a patient’s hospital stay by 2-4 days. The cost, in United States hospitals, per year, is over 500 million dollars to treat CAUTI’s (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012). Having a urinary tract infection can lead to unnecessary antimicrobial use, and the urinary drainage system of the urinary catheter can harbor multidrug-resistant bacteria, which can spread to other patients (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012).This paper, the nursing research utilization proposal, will focus on preventing CAUTI’s. The key resolution to prevent CAUTI’s is to implement a quality improvement (QI) program to improve the appropriate use of indwelling catheters and to reduce the risk of CAUTI’s based on health care organization’s risk assessment. A quality improvement program will......

Project Proposal

...Provisional title The provisional title of the following project proposal is “LSA Logistics UK innovative shipping of artworks” Hypothesis for the project This project aims to investigate whether there is an appropriate field in United Kingdom for the idea of innovative shipping of artworks to grow up and be successful. According to Valerie J. Easton and John H. McColl (1997) there are several kinds of hypothesis such as: null, alternative, simple and composite hypothesis. In this particular project I choose the alternative hypothesis as a tool for investigation. In other words this means that I will try to explain and prove that the new idea of shipping service will be successful and at the same time that it will provide a lot of advantages for the company LSA Logistics UK not only when it comes to finance returns, but when it comes to gaining new loyal clients and excellent reputation, too. Valerie J. Easton and John H. McColl (1997) claim that alternative hypothesis should include a proper investigation, which conclusion should explain why the newly invented product or service will be beneficial and needed for a sufficient number of potential clients. To make an alternative hypothesis a person should have objects or services to compare. In this case I have a great deal of competitors, which do offer this type of service. So at the end of the investigation I should be able to conclude that the new highly improved service of LSA Logistics UK is better than the services......

Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal: Topic Selection

...Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal: Topic Selection Amanda Reese NUR/598 June 16, 2015 Patricia Dehof Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal: Topic Selection Dementia is a broad spectrum umbrella word that encompasses many disorders that affect a patient and memory loss. There is Alzheimer’s type dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, delirium and more. As the general population in the United States gets older dementia becomes more and more of a problem. Generally speaking healthcare staff is not adequately educated and trained in dementia and the proper treatment of patients. There are several courses that are offered but there are very few policy and procedures in health care facilities regarding training people to care for dementia patients, and there are very few dementia programs within hospital settings. Topic Selection The topic selection for this paper is the need for dementia programs and policy and procedure related to the care of the dementia patient. The goal for the facilities would be to establish a care team that would be knowledgeable in the care of the different types of dementia. The team would be able to educate families as well as staff and be a resource. A team could examine the best ways to prevent injury to the patients that are in an unfamiliar hospital care environment and help work with the family to aid in the transition between home, the hospital and back again. With the knowledge the team has they can institute a policy and......

Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal

...Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal Abstract The issue of controlling and preventing hospital-acquired infections is a major problem in the Healthcare system. Most patients admitted to hospitals are at some risk of contracting a hospital-acquired infection (Paterson, 2012). Some patients are more vulnerable than others; these include the elderly, patients with defective immune systems, and premature babies. Hospital-acquired infections remain a major concern, and they can occur in any care setting, including acute care within hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, clinics, and long-term care facilities (such as nursing homes or rehab centers). Four categories account for 75% of all acquired infections in the acute care hospital setting. These are surgical site infections, central line-associated bloodstream infections, ventilator-associated pneumonia, and catheter-associated urinary tract infections (Nassof, 2009). Urinary tract infections comprise the highest percentage (Paterson, 2012). These infections usually are spread by the contaminated hands of healthcare providers or the patient’s family members. They are also caused by contaminated surfaces or hospital equipment that has not been properly cleaned (Nassof, 2009). The rate of exposure to infectious materials could be reduced if healthcare providers adhered to certain standard precautions such as hand hygiene. The proposal for this nursing research utilization project is to educate nurses on the......

Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal Section D

...Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal Sally Martin Torres NUR 598 September 11, 2011 Dr. Veta Massey Nursing Research Utilization Project Proposal Section D: Methods of Implementation Health care throughout the history has shown many changes. Every change brings in challenges in a workplace because change is more often met with resistance. It also brings in innovative ideas that steers the organization’s advancement and performance. The major motivation of change in this organization is to sustain a successful future in its continuum. For change to succeed, brilliant strategy, and clever implementation are necessary (Gandossy and Sonnenfield, 2004). Organizing the Plan The problem that was stated in Part A of this proposal was medication error and the organization is aiming at reducing the incidents of administration errors that involve medications. Although there are three proposed solutions, the one that gained the highest priority is the use red disposable apron during the medication rounds. This type of innovation is cost-effective, requiring short staff in-service by the nurse clinical educator, it is maintenance free, and does not require space for storage. This intervention will also allow a less difficult data collection for measuring outcomes. Every institution requires the approval of the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) to pilot an intervention. The intervention will be introduced in a small 30-bed medical-surgical unit which will last for four......

The purpose of this study is to test whether motivational instructions improve performance on standardized tests with students in two different schools in the Chicago Public Schools System. Figuring out whether doing simple things such as changing the way the test is presented to positively impact the way the students take the test and their resulting scores ways heavily on those who give these standardized tests. An e-mail will be sent around to all elementary school principals and fourth grade teachers in the Public Schools System in Chicago. This e-mail will discuss the concern of high standardized test scores in all schools across the United States. It will also ask these principals and teachers if they will be willing to participate in a simple study that will give educators more insight as to whether the way a teacher presents the instructions of their tests has an impact on the scores of these students. Of the schools that send back an e-mail stating that they are interested in the study, five to ten schools will be chosen. These schools will be chosen according to the number of students in the fourth grade, male to female ratio, their average test scores, socioeconomic status, and representation of the population. The schools with the most similar of these variables will be chosen...

...developing and developed countries. In Kenya, the incidences of juvenile delinquency have increased in the resent years and thus it has prompted the research studies on juveniles and crime. Juvenile delinquency is a type of offences committed by young people. The major offences committed by juveniles include vandalism, auto-theft, vagrancy, truancy and incorrigibility. The prevalence of juvenile delinquency has fostered by high living standard in the country, media and technology, availability and misuse of drugs, poor parental skills and broken-homes. However, most cases of juvenile delinquency are never reported, thus making it impossible to arrive at an accurate assessment of the number of children who engage in delinquency. In the 1960s in the United States of America, Gottrieb and Ramsey (1964) observed that only about third of adolescents apprehended by the police for offences considered delinquent were ever taken to police station or juvenile court. Usually, published figures underestimate the real incidences(Snooks, 1980). Therefore, this research proposal tries to study both the overlooked cases and addressed cases of juvenile delinquency in order to understand the risk factors and come up with more accurate figures that will help the CJS and rehabilitative centers come up with effective preventive measures.. This research proposal seeks to explore the different root causes of delinquency in Kericho County; and the extent to which the issue of delinquency......
