During the initial planning and design process construction and operational requirements of a commercial airport are established. The requirements are governed by the FAA under airport certification requirements identified in 14 CFR 139. Security systems, methods, and procedures within the construction and operational process are the obligation of TSA.
The Federal Security Director (FSD) is the designated TSA official that approves the required Airport Security Program (ASP) document, the document identifies how the airport will meet security requirements. The FSD and local FAA Airports Division officials should be consulted during all phases of the project.
Airport operators must integrate a Safety Management System process into their overall plan in accordance with FAA rules. Airports must establish hazard reporting systems, a risk assessment process, and a risk mitigation and assurance process with the participation of airport management. The best way to implement security in a facility is through advance planning and continuous monitoring throughout the project. Selecting, constructing, or modifying a facility without considering security for the general public, the facility, passengers, and airport and air carrier personnel can result in costly modifications.
All physical security upgrades should be based on applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and policies to ensure the protection of all persons and assets (including information systems and data). At a minimum,a physical security approach should include:
1. A vulnerability assessment, including a check of regulatory compliance (refer to Appendix A) to evaluate the existing security at an operational airport or a comprehensive security plan evaluating the potential vulnerabilities at a new facility or site;
2. A Concept of Operations (ConOps) that considers the physical and…...

...Below is a free essay on "Port Expander" from Anti Essays, your source for free research papers, essays, and term paper examples. A port expander is a device that allows one port on a computer system to connect to multiple devices. There are two basic forms of port expanders: internal and external. An internal expander has a connection inside the computer, typically on the motherboard, and the only part the user sees is the expansion plate containing multiple ports. An external device plugs into the existing port and then has multiple places to connect. When not part of a computer system, these devices are commonly known as splitters. An internal expander has a connection inside the computer, typically on the motherboard, and the only part the user sees in the expansion plate containing multiple ports. An external device plugs into the existing port and then has multiple places to connect. Now days there are no specific types of ports for different computers. Pretty much all computers from PC to Mac have all the same ports on them. One example of a port that was more specific just to Macs is the firewire, though these days firewire is rarely used. There are advantages and disadvantages of using a port expander. An advantage is that you get more ports to use. SAS takes one port and makes many out of them. A disadvantage is that a lot of the time they are external and can be annoying by being in the way. Also , if your power source isn’t good enough it could cause problems. When you add more devices it takes up more power, the power source can only handle so many extra ports. Port Expander

...A port expander essentially allows one to become two. What I mean by that is it allows more than one device to connect to a single port. Expanders are equivalent to splitters or extension cords in everyday life. They are usually inside the computer on the motherboard, with the only visible part of it being the extension plate showing multiple ports. Some example of the type of ports that we’ve covered and that I’m familiar with are: Ethernet Port Firewire Port Serial Port VGA Port Audio/Video Ports SATA Port DVI Port USB Port DB-25 Port Microphone Port Port expanders are pretty generic, meaning that they’re compatible for almost any PC. There is not a specific expander made for the numerous number of computer brands on the market today. The advantages and disadvantages sort of go together when talking about port expanders. They do allow you to connect more devices at one time but it also slows those devices down. Depending if the port has a 3GBps or 6GBps, all the devices had to share that speed, rather than being used individually and using all of the particular speed for one device. In most cases, buying port expanders are more convenient than trying to find a computer that comes with that many ports for a decent price. The only true downside you could run into would be the amount of power you have available on your computer. There are only so many ports you can use at one time before you overload your computer. Once it overloads, it will...

Port Expanders

...Gause 4/22/13 Unit 4 research paper: Port Expander “A port expander is a hardware device designed to utilize more than one device on a single port at one time.” In layman’s terms, this can also be called a “splitter.” There are many different types of port expanders, but they can be narrowed down to two major groups; internal, and external. They are generic devices that will function no matter where they’re installed. Internal port expanders attach to your motherboard, and the user will only see the back plate. From a hardware standpoint, there is no difference in the type of computer. If the card fits, it will work. The first image in the appendix is an example of a port expander. External port expanders are not attached to the motherboard. They plug into a slot on the computer, and allow multiple devices to attach to that slot. The second image in the appendix is an example of an external port expander. One of the biggest advantages to using a port splitter is during multitasking. For example, most user interface devices are USB devices, mice, keyboards, printers, and even cell phone chargers can all be plugged into a USB slot. Therefore, the more ports you have, the more peripheral attachments you can use. On the other hand, with so many devices plugged into a single port the power source could get overwhelmed. Without the proper safety measures, an overloaded power source could “burn out” and cease functioning. Appendix Image 1: Internal Port......

Port Expande

...In this research paper I will be addressing the different types of ports available on expander hardware. I will also talk about whether port expanders are made for specific types of computers, or if they are generic devices that will work with any computer. I will also discuss the possible advantages and disadvantages of using a port expander The first question what is a port extender? Well a port extender is a hardware device designed to allow a user to utilize more than one device on a single port at one time. For example, the device may allow seven devices to connect to one serial port. Another example if you only have one USB port and you had a USB Mouse and Keyboard, you can use a USB Port expander to connect to the USB port and have the USB Mouse and Keyboard connect to the port expander. There are many types of ports available on the expander hardware such as SCSI Port Expander Hardware, Audio Port Expander Hardware, VGA Port Expander Hardware, RS-422 Port Expander Hardware, SATA Port Expander Hardware, Ethernet Port Expander Hardware, Modbus Serial Port Hardware, and the SSD Port Expander Hardware. Second question are port extenders made for specific types of computers, or are they generic devices that will work with any computer? Port expanders are made to be generic and can be used on almost any computer. So you can use any port expander on any computer and it should work. Third question what are the advantages and disadvantages of using a port extender...

Port of Dieppe

...11/2/12 UNHP Port of Dieppe, Evening by Claude Monet I have chosen to write my paper on Claude Monet’s painting “Port of Dieppe”. This painting is in the Dixon Art Gallery and Gardens and part of their Ritchie Collection. After researching a little, I found that Claude Monet was a French painter that lived between the times of 1840 to 1926. He was a founder of the French Impressionist Paintings. He had a number of paintings throughout his life, but to me his painting “Port of Dieppe” sticks out more than any other painting I have seen in the art galleries. This painting was completed in Eighteen Eighty-Two, and is an impressionist style of painting. You can see this with the many short strokes Monet has used to make up this entire painting of a seaport with the skyline above a city and boats throughout the water. This painting somewhat can remind one of the painting “Starry Night” from Vincent Van Gogh. I say this, because of the style of painting that it is. All of the small strokes and blurry features of everything in the painting give it a weird look. It is not a detailed picture of exactly everything that he can see, but at the same time there is a lot of detail in every stroke that he has used to make up this entire painting. This is something that attracts me to this painting. The colors in this painting are very vibrant too. From the title and as you can tell in the painting, it is late in the day as the sun is going down. The sky is made up of many different......

Port Expander

...Port Expander I had never heard of a port expander before this class, but after much looking, I’ve found out what a port expander is and what it does. “ A port expander is a hardware device designed to allow a user to utilize more than one device on a single port at one time. For example, the device may allow seven devices to connect to one serial port.”(Computer Hope, 2016) It still didn’t make much sense to me, even after reading about it. As I went along finding more information, the more sense it made. What I found about this item is that additional ports receive and send data into a parallel format, which means it needs to be converted to a serial format. I found on the internet sixteen different port expanders, those would be SCSI port expander, audio port expander, VGS port expander, SATA port expander, Ethernet port expander, Modus Serial port expander, SSD port expander, SAS port expander, DB-25 port expander, USB port expander, VDI port expander, Microphone port expander, Video port expander, and Serial port expander (termpaperwarehouse, 2016). As far as if the port expanders are made for specific types of computers, what I’ve found are mixed answers online for this one. So for my own conclusion, I’m going to say they are generally basic, but doesn’t mean it will work with all computers, because a port expander doesn’t actually introduce any new hardware, just introduces a connection. It seems there are advantages and disadvantages to using a port expander...
