Talking Points

...workers age 31 and under. The recruiters seemed most concerned with millennials’ long-term commitment, professionalism and reliability. They also said millennial workers need major improvement in their interview skills. Based on the survey results, there are 5 interview mistakes millennials make: • Wearing inappropriate interview attire • Posting questionable social media content • Don’t ask enough questions • Haven’t done their research • Overconfident in their abilities and experience. Lessons Learned • In an interview, always dress appropriately. Stay away from flashy jewelry, plunging necklines, too-short hemlines, t-shirts, and shoes that are too casual or too difficult to walk in. Never wear anything that can be distracting, so if you have to think twice about it—skip it. • Never post inappropriate or explicit photos, share too much personal information about yourself or others, write with poor grammar or spelling, or use profanity on social media sites. • Do internet research on the company, position and interviewer; read as many recent articles as you can find about the industry; and use your LinkedIn connections to talk directly to someone already working there about the culture and environment. • Show interest and ask questions. Some of the best questions to ask in an interview are: How would you describe the ideal candidate? How does this position fit into the company’s long-term plans? What can I do for you as a follow-up? Questions you should......

Boiling Point and Melting Point

...Determination of Boiling Points and Melting Points of Organic Compounds During this laboratory session, we will practice determining the boiling point of a liquid organic compound and the melting point (or we could call it the freezing point) of a solid organic compound. The boiling point of a liquid is the temperature at which the pressure of the vapor above a liquid equals the existing pressure. As we heat a liquid, the pressure of the vapor above the liquid slowly increases. When this pressure equals the pressure existing in the container, the liquid begins to boil– the liquid turns to vapor. If not contained, the vapor will “escape” into the atmosphere. In other words, the liquid evaporates. If the vapor is contained, and then passed through an area where the temperature is lower, the vapor will “condense” and enter the liquid state again. This would be a distillation. Atmospheric pressure is approximately 760 mm Hg; i.e., the weight of a column of mercury measuring 1 mm2 and 760 mm tall. This equates to about 29.7 inches of mercury. If we reduce the pressure above the sample that we are heating, we can reduce the boiling point of the liquid. This is referred to as a vacuum distillation or carrying out a distillation in vacuo. For example, while water boils at 100oC (or 212° F) at 760 mm Hg, it boils around 22oC at 20 mm Hg. The boiling point of a liquid is a physical characteristic of a compound. Many factors go into the estimation of the boiling point of a liquid such......

Exegetical of John 6:32-38

...Introduction The Exegetical Passage in John 8:32-38 is full of life and truth. Throughout history, scholars have often debated the authority and accurate historical account of the Gospels of Jesus Christ and have deliberately tried to defuse or bestow doubt on the accuracy of Jesus Christ being the son of God, the Savior of the Word or even God Himself coming down in the form of man to reconcile us back to Himself. Through this passage, we can conclude that Jesus Christ is the bread of heaven that God has sent to reconcile man back to himself to give and sustain life to all those who partake of Him. The teachings of Jesus Christ from one looking in from the outside, sounds foolish to those who are not confessed Christians and often times astound the “Believer” who is seeking truth and knowledge from the Word of God. Jesus Christ is the bread of life that gives life to those who partake of Him and in this Exegetical Analysis, we will look at the points of references that guides us to the truth that Jesus Christ is the “bread of life” and all those who partake of this bread will by no means be cast out. Historical The view that John, the son of Zebedee, one of the original twelve apostles, wrote the Fourth Gospel, was held uniformly by the early church fathers and for this reason became the traditional view held by the Christian church until modern times. The Gospel of John was known and used authoritatively from the very earliest times and can be seen in......

...compared to other formats have a small file size this enables them to be put on to website quickly and easily. Continuing from this point animated GIF’s have lossless compression this helps the file size to be reduced without a large amount of distortion so quality is not excessively lost. Another advantage of animated GIF’s is that they support transparent backgrounds, meaning that a transparent background can be used on a website instead of using a plain background, this will make the website look more unique. Some of the disadvantages of animated GIF’s are that they only support a maximum of 256 colour pallet so if you wanted to create an animation using specific colour shades then an animated GIF won’t allow this. Another disadvantage of animated GIF’s is that they only work in some web browsers that don’t support animated GIF’s such as they don’t normally operate on a file system explorer but they work on Google Chrome. Software tools available for animation; Layers Layers separate different elements of an image, so that when they are played together they are seen as one image. Layering can divide backgrounds from different layers so that they can be worked on separately. Frames Frames are played in a sequence at a specific rate known as frames per second (fps). The most used and default is 25fps. Whereas a Key Frame is the start and end point of any transition; an example of this is a person throwing a javelin, the key frame will be the arm moving back and then......

...government’s poverty reduction strategy. In 2013, the World Bank released the results of its impact evaluation study on Pantawid Pamilya. It showed that the program has increased enrollment among 3-11 year 2 The World Bank (2009) and DFID (2011) have a comprehensive review of CCT outcomes and impacts. For a review of CCT experience in Southern Africa, refer to Vincent and Cull (2009); for Latin America and Carribean, Handa and Davis (2006). 2 olds (an increase of 10 percentage points for 3-5 year olds and 4.5 percentage points for 6-11 year olds). The significant impact on school participation however vanished among children 12 years old and above. This is unfortunate considering that dropout in this age group is one of the main problems in the education sector. A study by Reyes [2013] also showed that Pantawid Pamilya is not affecting enrollment rates beyond the age covered by the program. With regard to health outcomes, the World Bank study [2013] finds that there is a 10 percentage point reduction in severe stunting among 6-36 months old children and there is increased intake of deworming pills among elementary students. There was no impact observed on child immunization rates and facility-based birth deliveries of pregnant women. Along with the education and health conditionalities, CCTs have also aimed to improve consumption of program beneficiaries. In the Philippines, one of Pantawid Pamilya’s explicit objectives is “to raise the average......

The Point in Point of View

...The use of point of view is what allows authors to paint a descriptive and always evolving story line through the use of words. It gives the reader the keys to unlock their imagination and let their mind run wild with possibilities. An example of two different narrative styles can be seen in Margaret Atwood’s “Death by Landscape” and Richard Ford’s “Great Falls”. Using completely opposite methods to convey their stories these authors achieve a very similar effect on the reader. These methods include: foreshadowing, mystery, and highlighting the protagonist characteristics’. Both stories leave the reader with a feeling of empathy and a burning desire to know the truth. “Death by Landscape” is a handcrafted masterpiece written in third-person, about a young girl named Lois. Atwood however, takes it one step further in that of limited omniscience. By doing this, both the reader and Lois have the same feelings and reactions to Lucy’s disappearance. She “stepped sideways, and disappeared from time.” (Atwood, 35) The mystery and lack of closure that surrounds Lois also surrounds the reader. The same can be said for Ford’s “Great Falls”, who portrays the narrator as a young boy named Jackie. Ford does something unique by using Jackie as a distant narrator. He doesn’t want to know what is going on despite knowing something is wrong. “I have never known the answer to these questions, have never asked anyone their answers.” (Ford, 575) Although they use different styles of......
