Bill Russell was born on February 12, 1934 in the small town of Monroe, Louisiana. Bill’s parents were Charlie and Katie Russell. By the time Bill was born the white people had managed to keep blacks “in their place.” They also kept them from using white facilities and institutions through Jim Crow laws that indicate racial separation.
Bill was the starting center on the U.S. Olympic team that won the gold medal in 1956. He went on to play for the University of San Francisco and win the 1955 and 1956 NCAA championships. This college team also held the record for most consecutive games won: 60.
When Bill joined the Celtics they already had the best record in the league which would only get better. Bill played for the Celtics for thirteen seasons. In those thirteen seasons he won eleven NBA championships. He was also the MVP in 1958,”61,”62,”63,”65. Bill was also a twelve time NBA all star.
Bill averaged 22.5 points per game and led the league in rebounds. In one game he fifty one rebounds in one game and had forty nine in two others. In his career he had a total of 21,620 rebounds.
Bill Russell went on to coach the Boston Celtics after he retired from being a player. He was one of the greatest basketball players in the NBA. When Bill retired he was also admitted to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame located in Springfield, MA.

...management, there would be higher variance in product quality and the brand’s value would decline. Caterpillar Tractor’s distribution network is another example of crucial resource supported by a key capability. Cat’s dealers are a central part of their sales and service activities. Many dealers have been in place since World War II, building their franchises as the global post-war economy grew. They provided fast, expert service to contractors working under deadlines. Without this rich and highly competent network, it is not clear that Cat would be able to withstand the competitive pressure of rivals such as Komatsu. Yet it is Cat’s activities in managing and supporting its dealers - through incentives, component supply, and marketing programs - that maintains the value of the dealers to the company. Returning to the discussion above regarding resource valuation, it is clear that a firm’s expertise in exploiting a resource determines its value. When firms bid against each other for an asset, the winner’s ability to extract a higher economic return from it determines in large part the amount paid (see the sidebar below). The winning firm’s projected economic returns from purchasing it are simply higher, assuming the bids are based on valid information. Successful U.S. bank holding companies, such as Banc One, Nationsbank and First Union grew during the 1980’s and 90’s by developing effective methods for turning around small to medium sized local banks. ...When using traditional marketing methods to understand consumer behavior, managers must consider “whether the participating groups are truly representative of the larger population, whether the answers given in these formats represent actual market behavior, (and) how to isolate the effects of different variables that influence demand” (Farnham, 2014, p. 93). The use of technology in marketing to expand the use of these traditional methods can create biases that may unduly influence manager decisions about consumer behavior. For example, a type of bias that can result from the use of technology is sampling bias. “A common cause of sampling bias lies in the design of the study or in the data collection procedure, both of which may favor or disfavor collecting data from certain classes or individuals or in certain conditions. Sampling bias is also particularly prominent whenever researchers adopt sampling strategies based on judgment or convenience, in which the criterion used to select samples is somehow related to the variables of interest” (Panzeri, Magri, and Carraro, 2008). A second type of bias that may result from the use of technology is response bias. “In survey sampling, response bias refers to the bias that results from problems in the measurement process. This bias may result from leading questions, in which the wording of the question may be loaded in some way to unduly favor one response over another, or social desirability, because most people like to......

...water but you can make him drink it. Same holds true in the construction industry, you can provide all the safety training in the world and supply the best safety equipment, but it is ultimately up to the worker to choose the right choices. Review and Analysis October 2012, a construction worker fell to his death while working on an unfinished rooftop more than fifty feet in the air. According to witnesses in a preliminary investigation, the worker was not wearing a safety harness. The company the worker had been working for was fined prior the incident happening. The company was issued a citation previous to the accident, according to Gordon (2012), “the serious violation was issued because the firm did not provide a proper training program for employees who were exposed to fall hazards of up to 43 feet while engaged in steel installation” (p.1). The willful violation came as a result of the employees who were engage in installing metal roofing, they were not protected by mean of a safety harness, safety net, or any other means of a restraint system (Gordon, 2012). According to Gordon (2012), “A serious violation means conditions were such that if an error were to occur, the resulting injuries would be serious in nature, including death, multiple fractures, loss limb or contusions”(p.1). This was not the first time the company had been fined or issued citations; the company had been cited with six serious violations in the past. Citations included, scaffolding issues,......

...diligent folk will generally smile and appear to accede, but quietly to themselves, they're thinking, "No bloody chance mate, if you think I'm standing for that load of old bollocks you've another think coming…" (And that's just the amenable types - the other more recalcitrant types will be well on the way to making their own particular transition from gamekeepers to poachers.) Instead, change needs to be understood and managed in a way that people can cope effectively with it. Change can be unsettling, so the manager logically needs to be a settling influence. Check that people affected by the change agree with, or at least understand, the need for change, and have a chance to decide how the change will be managed, and to be involved in the planning and implementation of the change. Use face-to-face communications to handle sensitive aspects of organisational change management (see Mehrabian's research on conveying meaning and understanding). Encourage your managers to communicate face-to-face with their people too if they are helping you manage an organizational change. Email and written notices are extremely weak at conveying and developing understanding. If you think that you need to make a change quickly, probe the reasons - is the urgency real? Will the effects of agreeing a more sensible time-frame really be more disastrous than presiding over a disastrous change? Quick change prevents proper consultation and involvement, which leads to difficulties that take time......
