For my Virtual operating system I chose an Ubuntu (64bit) operating system since I had no former experience with it I will be running the operating system on the Oracle VM Box Manager. My first experience with the Virtual Operating system is that I had to go to to download the files to use to get the program for the virtual operating system. This took some leg work for me because I wanted to make sure that I was doing this correctly I didn’t want to accidently download a virus or something that would hurt my machine or break it so to speak. I consulted and I found that the information there seemed legitimate so I went ahead with the downloading process. When you look on the site for the Oracle VM Box Manager they do include a very detailed manual so I found the correct install for my host which is windows it only took a couple of minutes for it to download. Once downloaded you go through the wizard which is pretty straight forward but I do highly suggest keeping the manual open for a reference so that you are able to know how much RAM to allocate your guest operating system. Once you have your virtual machine named and set up with a virtual hard drive you are ready to install your guest your operating system. Don’t worry there is a wizard for......

...Neiman Marcus Hacking and Securing a POS System John Fischer Security Research Paper 9/22/2014 For several years we have been using the point of sale (POS) system for payment at major retailers. In the last year there have been several attacks on major retailers POS systems. In this paper, I will focus specifically on the breach of security at Neiman Marcus. In this discussion I will explain how to help secure a POS system. Neiman Marcus was founded in 1907 by Herbert Marcus with his sister, Carrie Marcus Neiman, and her husband A.L. Neiman. Their initial investment was $25,000. The original Neiman Marcus was on the corners of Elm and Murphy streets in Dallas, Texas. In 1913 a fire destroyed the companies building and its entire inventory. A new building was built in 1914 on the corners of Main and Ervay, also in Dallas, Texas. Neiman Marcus’ headquarters is still located in this building. Neiman Marcus is a high end retail store. The target market for Neiman Marcus is the top 2% of the income bracket of the United States, plus the wealthiest people around the world. Neiman Marcus retails high end goods such as clothes, jewelry, cosmetics, home furnishings, antiques and even rare books. Neiman Marcus also has an online store, started in 1999, that offers customers access to high end luxury goods. In 1926 Neiman Marcus first issued their holiday catalog. Many different items have been offered in their holiday catalog, including life size robots and......

The Pos System in a Restaurant

...The Pos System In a Restaurant The times of "Marge" taking your request giving the ticket to the short-request cook, taking the client's installment and putting in the trade register are over in for cold hard currency the advanced restaurant business. Marge, and the short-request cook, may even now be there, yet the money register has been supplanted by a Point of Sale framework. The framework still starts with the client's request. The Pos framework track deals are a framework where you can't be undermined in light of the fact that a machine will be figuring your bills. For instance, the waitperson enters the requested things into the machine or by touching the screen. The machine computes the bill including duty. At the point when the client pays the waitperson enters the receipt number and the sum paid. The POS charges the credit or check card or, on account of money, enters the money sum and computes the change. Other than that, the way the planning of nourishment is kind of systemic it is in a totally robotized framework the request shows up on the machine screen back in the sustenance readiness territory. The cook readies the dish and keys that it is done into the machine. In less refined frameworks, the POS framework creates a ticket which is physically given to the nourishment prep staff. Besides the drink site of the restaurant is basic and simple. Case in point, the barkeep is advised through the POS System that beverages have been requested by the client......
