...the world economy. During the past three months, the price has ranged from $ 11.5000 to $ 14.0000 per gram. S2 can be sold after electrolysis for $ 0.1533 per gram or it can be further purified. Purification costs are $ 0.0433 per gram of pure S2 (PS2) produced, which can be sold for $ 0.2000 per gram (both the $ 0.1533 and $ 0.2000 prices have remained relatively stable during the past year and management expects no significant changes during the next year). This purification process reduces the volume of the S2 product by 20%. (1 unit of S2 = 0.80 unit of PS2) The P1 can be sold after electrolysis for $ 14.3333 per gram or further purified and sold as PP1 for $ 18.3333 per gram. Purification results in a 10% reduction in the volume (1 unit of P1 = 0.90 units of PP1). The total cost of purification is $ 1.6200 per gram of PP1. The total cost of winter road transportation was 2 million dollars 2011. This cost was split equally between KMM and the residents of Carlsbad. During the spring, summer and fall periods, all shipments between Whitehorse and the mine site have to be made by float plane and helicopter. ... I think the only other avenue I would have pursued may have been the use of free samples. Today the news and information would have been more quickly disbursed and widespread in moments rather than over a few days. It could have created more problems, forcing decisions to be made more quickly and under more pressure. In the instantaneous world we live in, the information would have been available to many across the world and could have cause more panic, more money spent in recalls and recovery, and unfortunately more copy cat killers. ...PM598 – Contract and Procurement Management PEACH COMPUTER COMPANY Case Analysis At the meeting, the decision was made to utilize detailed design and engineering specifications so as to obtain competitive bids on the project. The executive committee required completion of the building within twelve months since the new facility would allow for production necessary to meet a new government contract. The contract was of vital importance to Peach since it would yield additional net income of $4,000,000 annually. Within 2 months after the meeting, Don issued a request for proposal using the recommended specification method with a specific construction time of 9 months. Four proposals were received. Don reviewed them quickly since he had 3 weeks to award the project and execute a contract. Winstrom Construction was a local Ohio firm that had completed much of the construction at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. They submitted a bid of $5,960,000 with a required deposit of $1,000,000. Winstrom had worked previously on a similar project for Peach and had finished it on-time. Don was concerned with the deposit given that Peach would have to supply these funds from capital reserves which were invested at 8% annually, but he rated their quality an A since he heard they had a partnership attitude in dealing with the inevitable problems on the AFB projects. Frazier Construction was a firm from Florida who had completed several projects around the country for competitors of......

Monetary Policy

...country’s unemployment rate. The Bank of Japan (BOJ) adopted, the approach of pursuing monetary easing by, changing the overnight rate to around 0 per cent to 0.1 per cent and injecting 55 trillion yen to purchase Japanese government bonds (BOJ, 2011, pp.1). Reduce the overnight rate will increase the money supply in banking system as it encourage banks to borrow money from Central Bank. Thus, other than a reduction in interest rates on loan and deposit accounts in bank, there will also be a lack of incentives for households to save, which therefore, encourages them to spend. Furthermore, an overnight rate between 0 percent and 0.1 percent is as good as free to the ordinary man, according to the Globe and Mail newspaper. (Carl Mortished, 2011, pp1) To accelerate the process, BOJ introduced additional 5 trillion yen from 50 trillion yen to purchase the government bonds. This adds up to a total amount of 55 trillion yen (BOJ, 2011, pp3). BOJ combated deflation with additional 5 trillion yen through the purchase of other financial assets as corporate bonds, commercial paper, real estate funds or anything that can inject cash into the economy. (Carl Mortished, 2011, pp2) In brief, expansionary monetary policy is an approach that stimulates the economy of the country. Its importance tool was highlighted in the case of Japan where it was employed by the BOJ to stimulate the economy to combat Japan’s current issue of deflation. 2.2 Contractionary Monetary Policy A......
