Resource | Description | How each resource can be used by the Mayflower Theatre | Buildings and facilities | The location of where a business operates. Every business needs some form of building to work in. It can range from a small office in a web based company to a massive warehouse for a company like Wilton Bradley Ltd. | They have a grade 2 listed building in which the theatre is located. | Materials & Waste | The type of materials depends on what type of business it is. Some businesses choose to help the environment by only having recyclable materials (paper, energy etc.). Waste is what isn’t needed therefore removed from the area. | The materials used by the Mayflower Theatre are things like paper, electricity for lighting and computers etc. These are all used when tickets are bought, profit is counted and throughout the day when the theatre needs lighting. | Plant & Machinery | These are the items used for physical movement in businesses. Anything needed to be moved or removed would be done by a piece of machinery which could be of any size. | The Mayflower Theatre uses things like fork lift trucks to move larger equipment on and off of the stage. They also have electrical testing equipment which are used for safety reasons. | Equipment Including IT | The things used by every business come under the equipment category. Things like pens and computers are all equipment used by businesses. | Computers are in the Mayflower Theatre which are all used daily for various reasons. One of them being when a ticket is bought it would go onto the system. | Planned Maintenance & Refurbishment | Planned Maintenance is any variety of maintenance to any object, building or equipment. Refurbishment is the servicing of old/damaged equipment to bring it back to a useable state. | Anything that needs updating or repairing will come under the planned maintenance and refurbishment apartment. This can range from a whole new section being built at the Mayflower or just repairing part of the stage. | Emergency Provision | Emergency Provisions are preparations for emergencies. Emergencies are unexpected therefore businesses should prepare for them and have all types of equipment to prevent such things. | Having this emergency provision will stop the Mayflower Theatre from being further damaged after an unexpected emergency has happened. With fires, the business will have fire extinguishers to put them out, as well as fire exits. | Insurance | Every building owned must be fully insured. This can include floods, fires and electrical damage. | This can be used by the Mayflower Theatre as any type of damage can occur at any time. Therefore, you should be covered for all types (flooding, fires, vandalism etc.). For peoples’ safety also, it will ensure that the business doesn’t get shut down if they have the right type of insurance. | Security | However small the business is, it is always necessary to have some type of security which ranges from employed security guards or CCTV cameras. | CCTV cameras are used in case of any emergencies, damage, vandalism etc. This could help the Mayflower Theatre in many ways, such as if they were broken into they would have visual evidence. |

These are used in some businesses like clothing brands, which have lots of different designs. | These resources are used by the Mayflower Theatre by having them before, during and after all types of shows. Music will be played at some of the times as well as video clips. | Accumulated experience and skills | Businesses will plan appropriately so that they know what types of experience they’re looking for so that the right person comes along. Required skills such as retail experience would be necessary in a job that involves selling clothing in a shop. | The Mayflower Theatre would use this resource by having all the people they employ have previous customer service skills or experience. This would be necessary as this business deal with customers daily. | Software Licenses | All businesses need licenses to use certain software. Microsoft Word and Excel are examples of software that require licenses. | The Theatre would use all types of software for different reasons. Sending emails or other notes would all be used on Microsoft Word. | Protection Via Patents & Copyrights | Patents and copyrights are both required by law.
