Obama’s five-pronged approach to education
Spend from “the cradle through career”; spend until they proceed into the labour market.
More spending on early childhood education: visit of nurses to heck on the children health so that they can start well in life.
Toughen and clarify testing standards: There is no federal exam. Each State defines the curriculum. Each school creates its exam. You graduate from high school, but there is no national exam, the expectations vary from one school to the other. No child left behind program under Bush: school are encouraged to have higher pass rates, if they have better pass rates, then they receive more money. There is the idea, that to help getting better results, schools have lowered down the expectations, in order to have easier exams, and higher pass-rates.
Recruit and train teachers: Better teachers who are paid more, because better trained. He wants to introduce a controversial measure, to introduce merit pay. But the Unions protest, as it would favour inequality between teachers.
More charter schools: They are schools, which do not depend on local school board, which are more flexible to choose their curriculum but which are funded by the state. But there is the idea that charter schools take the money of the public schools. He wants longer school days and more of them in order to answer the challenges of today’s century.
Increase the number of Pell Grant Awards (federal scholarship): offer tax credits to the families to offset tuition costs.
ONE GOAL The US would have the highest number of graduates by 2020
The priority is to raise standards, and to raise the pupils’ achievements.
Due to federalism, the action of the president is very limited. Education is highly devolved in the US. (A devolved matter, Devolution:…...

President Obama’s Plan to Assist with College Expenses

...President Obama’s plan to assist with college expenses Margaret Ison Strayer University The Obama administration is planning to propose cuts in student loan programs for millions of students and parents struggling to pay for college. The administration is also planning tax incentives to assist in managing the financial burden of student loan debt. American families are continuously trying to figure out how they are going to pay for the rising cost of higher education expenses. These expenses can be overwhelming for those who aren't prepared. The U.S government is attempting to support those in pursuit of higher education and is sympathetic to those who are having problems managing this expense as well as those who have accumulated student loans that seem impossible to repay. In coming to the aid of taxpaying American citizens the U.S. government is offering a number of tax credits and other incentives that can provide substantial relief for many taxpayers. Let’s first consider the various credits and deductions available to students of higher education and for their parents. The most prevalent ways of reimbursing taxpayers for higher education expenses is through tax credits. There are two main credits available, one was introduced in 2009. The American Opportunity Tax Credit, it provides a credit of up to $2,500 per student. This credit is offered for up to four years of undergraduate studies and is therefore both an improvement and an......

Obama's Plan

...Clayton Howell Dr. Carolyn Schmidt POS 2041 11/26/14 Assignment 3 Obama’s Immigration plan that he introduced recently has many citizens outraged. This plan that Obama announced will change how immigrants live and work in the United States. Immigrants will no longer have to “live under the radar” and never fear deportation again. Obama claims that he will use his executive power to enforce this system and plan. There are many guidelines to debate with this plan, along with health care, social security, and jobs that immigrants may receive. I agree with Ander Crenshaw as he called these actions unconstitutional and the president refuses to listen to the public. Because I do not agree with Obama’s plan I have created a group who will take political actions against the Immigration Plan. Because Obama refuses to listen to the public, though I am sure most of the United States has no clue about this plan, I will make it known through media. So our political group would go about a public meeting and generate letters to send to local news or newspapers. Creating this special interest group could seek power by participating in volunteer work throughout the community would draw Television reporters to our meetings and hearings and hopefully raise awareness of the Immigration Plan. The outcome I think could be huge enough that the public would help spread this plan making other groups and people against Obama’s plan. I believe once everyone hears that approximately five......

Nur/405 Health Education Plan

...Health Education Plan NUR/405 October 10, 2011 Health Education Plan Educating the public is a role every nurse must participate in to promote, maintain, and restore health among a community. To accomplish such requires community members receive and have a practical understanding of health-related information (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2008). One method to accomplish such is to develop a health educational plan. The purpose of this paper is to create a health education plan based upon information collected from a windshield survey and Friedman family assessment conducted by a nurse in the community of Palmdale, California. Areas that will be discussed include, a description of the educational need based upon assessment findings, educational goals and objectives, educational methods that will be used to implement the health educational plan, and the methods applied to evaluate the educator and process used in the development and implementation of the health education plan. Identification of a Health Educational Need In conducting a windshield survey and Friedman family assessment, the nurse identified multiple educational needs. The priority educational need in common and identified among both the family and the community of Palmdale, California is the need for education on the maintenance of chronic illnesses. Determining what chronic illness to focus on in terms of development of the health educational plan however, presented more of a challenge. When observing...

Health Education Plan

...Health Education Plan Deborah Hibbs Nurs 405 March 12, 2012 Beth Meadows RN,MSN, NCSN Health Education Plan This health education plan is based on information collected from information gathered from a Windshield Survey and from interviews of a subject family. Educational Needs Although smoking rates have gone down over the last few years, there is still a need for education related to smoking and smoking cessation. In the Windshield Survey, it was stated that due to local and state regulations, smoking in public places is illegal and since these laws have been in force, smoking rates in the area have dropped. “New survey results show Washington’s adult smoking rate has dropped to a new low of 14.8 percent. That’s down from 15.3 percent the previous year. Washington now has the third lowest smoking rate in the nation—the state’s best ranking since measuring across all 50 states started in 1995  (Washington State Department of Health, 2010).” Even with the lower rate, there is still a need for more education, especially among the lower income group. According to the Washington State Department of Health (2010) website, “The smoking rates among people from low income or with lower educational backgrounds remain high at 29 and 27 percent, respectively. While people with lower incomes try to quit as often as people with higher incomes, they are less successful.” My subject family has a mother and father who are chain smokers and two teenage children who are suffering......

Personal Education and Career Plan

...Problems are human judgments about situations. Many question and steps have to be taking. Also with an ethical solutions in place. I’ve found that The Five P’s from my text book if placed right cover’s those questions to most problems although everyone problems or challenges maybe different you can use techniques to decide on a course of action. One of my listed above is fear of failure. I think when it comes to education and failure that can present a big problem, an attempt to impose expectations on us in a way that is difficult. In the 1940’s According to a survey reported in a 1988 issues of Time magazine, Schools faced problems such as Talking, Chewing Gum, and Improper Clothing. Source: Time Magazine, 2-1-88 and though that is far from the problems in the 1980’s just some examples how that could affect education and have a judgment or put someone in a situation where failure can present a big problem. Problems and Challenges Problems and Challenges can be viewed differently by simply following the 5 P process. But for those that don’t have access they see that a situation conflicts with their interests, and they declare, “There is a problem here” all is the same different terms what is the situation? Whom does it concern? How do we perceive it? Why does it concern you? What changes will it propose? Are all just other steps and procession question that have to be asked Another Problem is self-motivation it is hard for me to find the......
