I would have to say that my “ahas” from the past five weeks have to be the way that I learned that everything that I do in my current role, can be enhanced with the things that I have learned so far from starting my role transition into professional nursing. I have learn that it takes clear defined roles in committee to ensure success, I’ve learned that learning others philosophy of nursing helped me to development/ pave the road for my own philosophy of nursing. Over the past weeks I learned that it takes past experiences to help us understand where nursing received its foundations and has grown to be an ever changing dynamic. Over the last several weeks I have observed several co-workers performing their many job functions as research nurses, one thing that I have learned is that the BSN handle patient care issues differently, they are better organized and they used a systematic approach when coordinating patient care issues. Since starting this program, I must say I have gained a drive to want to do my job better, to become a better nurse, to use my critical thinking skills to problem solve different obstacles along the way. My understanding as a whole has changed I rationalize my decisions and prioritize the need of tasks more efficiently.
Knowledge that I have gain would be, how to give constructive feedback in a way that others are able to receive feedback in a positive way. I’ve learned to not only retrieve peer-reviewed articles, but to summarize and analyze them in a way that I never understood before. I learned to organize materials in this course in order of importance, urgent, non- urgent, and also just because something is not urgent on my list, it may urgent for my supervisor or other members of my team. I ‘ve also learned the importance of committee’s and the function that they serve, which is to improve patient care outcome measures and ensure that the department functions at the best achievable level.…...

...In The News - Amazon Signs $600M Cloud Infrastructure Deal With CIA At first glance, when I saw this article, I was more curious than anything, and had no thought of how this piece of news could be blended into the BUSN-412 discussion thread. However, after reading through the article, it became apparent to me that Amazon’s deal with the CIA was still a business transaction, albeit with the Federal Government. My thoughts began to race as I pondered how this would be different from any other business decision reached by such an enormous company like Amazon. After all, they are a multi-billion-dollar company, who are in business to make money. In an article published by CRN, a very reliable technology news organization, unconfirmed reports state that Amazon has reached a 10-year, $600 million cloud computing deal with Amazon. Amazon, if confirmed, and already a major player in the building of Cloud Infrastructure, will have scored a very large victory in the tech world. With such a sizeable deal in the works, one could speculate about some of what went on behind closed doors. As it may relate to our week two discussion thread on SWOT, I would speculate that the CIA did its own SWOT analysis of Amazon. I am sure that the CIA would not have even considered Amazon for this venture, before scrutinizing Amazon from top to bottom. For the business managers that were involved in this process, it should have been the standard way to conduct business, save for the fact it was......

V for Vendetta New Beginings

...traumatic imprisonment and spends decades preparing to take vengeance on his oppressors under a new persona.”— (Wikipedia). The ideas of the film are explained and consistent all throughout, the historical events gives the film a lot of substance and depth. The contents of the film are both bias and objective. The movie itself was very biased but some characters are, I believe, more objective. The fictional government’s way of thinking and message is exceptionally bias, they believe in solely one strict way to live life supported by a specific religion. The fact that they have exterminated those who thought differently or were different shows how biased their government is. An example for this is when Evey’s parents are ‘black-bagged’ because they protested against the government. Another example is the fact that everything from movies to music, books to paintings, religion to ethnicities are monitored and censored all based on the Chancellor’s personal opinion. V has many of these ‘black- list’ items in his house, which is has stolen, same with Evey’s friend Deitrich which one is a hidden copy of the Koran. Right before V’s terrorist siege over the TV news station, a scene shows a conversation between two BTN employees, as the lady asks if he co-worker thinks the people will believe the cover-up story for the destruction of the Old Bailey, he replies, “why not, our job is to report the news, not fabricate it. That’s the government’s job.” This shows the government’s......

Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, visiting Berlin, urged the German government to do more to boost lackluster domestic demand, which the U.S. and others argue is partly to blame for the anemic economic growth in the euro zone as a whole. Do Tax Cheats Solve the U.K.’s Productivity Puzzle? URL:http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2013/10/22/do-tax-cheats-solve-the-u-k-s-productivity-puzzle/?KEYWORDS=productivity abstract: Economists in Britain have long been scratching their heads over the nation’s troubling “productivity puzzle.” Now Markit, the financial information provider that publishes the purchasing managers’ indexes used to gauge activity in the global economy, has tentatively suggested that former tax cheats might be muddying the waters. Britain has a bigger workforce than it did before it tipped into recession in 2008 yet is producing far fewer goods and services. This mismatch between output and jobs has led to a collapse in productivity, a measure of how effectively an economy uses its resources that’s an important driver of future growth prospects. ...Business Policy 3/15/14 The article that I chose to talk about is about Apple and Samsung; they have both been competing to be number one in the market for phones, TVs, and now watches and new advances in technology. Apple has a huge a range of customers who are very loyal to them and that are what had made them so successful in expanding their business. Samsung is also very successful because of the advances that they have been making with Android and the new Tizen strategy. Tizen is a new form of technology that allows manufactures to turn phones in watches and other everyday items. Tizen and Android are very similar and most people cannot tell them apart if the systems are switched. Apple has a huge disadvantage with Samsung because they do not move as fast as Samsung. Samsung’s disadvantage is that China can easily make knockoffs of the brand and sell them for as low as $35 compared to $700. * Samsung’s marketing strategy is to cover everything that they can internationally, spending 4 billion dollars. * Apple’s business strategy is to keep its loyal customers happy with the products that they currently own. * Samsung’s business strategy is to keep the customers that they have while trying to gain new customers. * Samsung and Apple’s main challenges are environmental because people care about what their phones can do. Which means applications like Facebook, Instagram, and Candy crush? * Another area that they are competing in is the tablet market,......

...While developments were taking place in the telescope and spectroscope, the discovery of photography brought these observations into the realm of fact. By means of this new art the heavens could be photographed, and true pictures of the relative sizes of sun, moon, and stars were presented to the world at large. The discoveries of Professor Tyndall on the subject of radiant heat became known in 1863, when one of the foremost men of science, Sir William Thomson (afterwards Lord Kelvin), was using his experiments in electricity for practical ends. PROFESSOR TYNDALL. | One December night in 1858 the first electric light flashed over the troubled waters from the South Foreland lighthouse, though private houses were not lit with it till 1878. By this time the great work of Lord Kelvin's life was done, and he had been the means of laying the deep submarine cable, first from Dover to Calais in 1851, then from Ireland to Newfoundland in 1866, until every foreign country and every colony were in communication one with another. New discoveries in plant life by Sir William Hooker and other botanists led to the re-establishment of the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew: they were the very first gardens of their kind in the whole world. LORD KELVIN. | A closer study of plant and animal life led Charles Darwin to the new theories which he gave to the world in 1859 on The Origin of Species. His book gave rise to much discussion, but when in 1871 it was followed by The Descent of......

Islam the Begining

...had four daughters. Muhammad had two significant roles in Islam his preaching and Hijra. Around the time 610 Muhammad heard the voice of an angle Gabriel telling him to reflect the word of God. Muhammad began to preach publicly but was initially only able to get a small group of people to follow him in his beliefs. Most people feared him because of his paganism threated the center of Mecca. (pg 180 Chambers). After being run out of Mecca Muhammad took his Ideas to a town known as Medina. This travel from Mecca to Medina is known as Hijra which occurred around 622. This journey will later be known as year one of the Islam calendar. The Hijra was the most important turning point in Muhammad career he became a political leader. As this new power Muhammad was able to get his followers to fight for God and began battle against Mecca in 624 and won in 630 (pg 181 Chambers). Muhammad left one building standing in his battle of destruction in Mecca known as Kaaba. Kaaba where Muslims believe Abraham built as a temple. Muhammad died in 632 and had grown a strong and prosperous religion (pg 181 Chambers). The Holly Quran According to Islamic tradition Muhammad received his first revelations from God in the Cave of Hira. The revelation of Quran started in the year 610 AD and was completed by year 632 AD (Fisher, 1997). ...News and Current Affairs Programme 1 ITN National and World News This programme is a national type and is broadcast right across the British Isles on a daily basis. It is not a specialist programme in the sense that it does not focus on one particular genre of news.eg sport, instead it covers every area and delivers it in a formal manner. The particular programme that I have taken notes on appeared on our screens and was broadcast on 10/10/10 at 6:00pm. It was presented by Alastair Stewart and Mary Nightingale and the headlines of each individual story were read out in the studio. This was then followed by images and graphics appearing on screen as the voice-overs of the news presenters could clearly be heard explaining the story. The first story that was covered was about how the Vitamin B could potentially benefit people that suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. The first part of this story used graphics on the screen as well as the use of voice-overs to narrate what the diagrams and statistics on screen meant. The story then progressed into interviews with experts on the matter, all of a medical background and with extensive knowledge in Alzheimer’s disease and also the Vitamin B. These interviews were taken in medical rooms with clear equipment and charts visible on camera the whole time to reiterate the issue. Finally the story was concluded with footage of old age pensioners who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and a summary voice over being made on......

...The company “Nutiva” did a re-branding campaign the beginning of 2014 for its product line with new labels. Nutiva is the world’s leading brand of all-organic hemp foods, coconut oil, red palm oil and chia seeds. Their logo is: “Nourishing People and Planets. Revolutionizing the way the world eats”. They are a values-driven brand, dedicated to providing nourishing food and supplements. The beginning of this year, they launched a clean simple new look to the labels of their products which hadn’t had a packaging change in 15 years. Their inspiration for the change was to look as fresh, healthy and vital on the outside of the package as what they have inside. The labels are simple, clean, modern looking white background with watercolor inspired designs of the plant product that is inside. The website article found at Nutiva.com was my choice for this assignment. This re-branding idea is very important in successful advertising to help rejuvenate a product. Nutiva’s original labels were very every day common blending in with its competition. The fresh look will attract new consumers that may be buying other similar products. Media campaigns with the new look that were launched by Nutiva are part of the marketing mix to help this product sell. The internet marketing and advertising Nutiva has done with the “new” look are the campaign mix that the DeVry course in “Advertising and Public Relations” is teaching. Nutiva wants to keep its brand image consistent and also have it......

...In the News Apple has revealed a new promotional material that lets its users have the ability to switch between major mobile carriers for their data plans. Apple will now ship out in their new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 a built-in sim card that allows users to purchase wireless service on the spot. Previous ipads have always had the ability to let you hop between carriers just by swapping out the sim card; however, Apple has simplified this process further with one sim card that lets you hop onto whichever carriers is listed on their iOS. These carriers include AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile in the U.S., and EE in the U.K. Apple does plan to expand the list of global carriers in the future. Why does this matter? Well I think this really takes the carriers out of the retail loop and makes it easier for Apple users to be able to switch seamlessly between the three major U.S. carriers for on the go data plans. It makes the carriers a lot closer to the interchangeable pipes that they’re afraid of seeing because it effectively lessens the powers of the mobile carriers since they rely on their control of the retail sales and service channels to prevent customers from switchovers and to be able to upsell additional products. Interestingly enough, Verizon has opted out of this new Apple sim so far, which shows the disproportionate strength of Verizon in our market as compared to the other three carriers. Verizon thinks that they have enough market power to tell Apple what to......

...News The News is a wonderful and scary thing at the same time. I personally steer clear of the news as it tends to blow matters way out of proportions and with being in the military I rather be briefed on things of national security by my superiors vice the local news that only gets pebbles from the locals. I think that the news can be good at times, but in my experiences it tends to stress society out way more than it needs to be. An example of this is I have been to Bahrain numerous times, and all my mother would see on the television is riots and unruly behavior there. I on the other hand did not watch the news, got the security brief from my superiors and carried on my mission. While I was there it was nothing as what my mother and the news had depicted. Every time I have been there it has been peaceful and the locals have always been so very nice. Audience The intended audience was originally for locals, as it was broadcasted on the local news channels. The written news article I chose was from New York Times. Since the incident occurred in Phoenix, AZ, I purposefully chose the New York Times as it is located across the country. This choice makes for a better comparison of data from across state lines. Credible MSNBC and the New York Times are both credible sources that individuals rely on everyday to hear anything from the weather to local in international news. Both of these reports were similar in nature. The New York Times tends to go more in depth, so their...

...A news article discusses current or recent news of either general interest (i.e. daily newspapers) or of a specific topic (i.e. political or trade news magazines, club newsletters, or technology news websites). A news article can include accounts of eyewitnesses to the happening event. It can contain photographs, accounts, statistics, graphs, recollections, interviews, polls, debates on the topic, etc. Headlines can be used to focus the reader’s attention on a particular (or main) part of the article. The writer can also give facts and detailed information following answers to general questions like who, what, when, where, why and how. Quoted references can also be helpful. References to people can also be made through the written accounts of interviews and debates confirming the factuality of the writer’s information and the reliability of his source. The writer can use redirection to ensure that the reader keeps reading the article and to draw her attention to other articles. For example, phrases like "Continued on page 3” redirect the reader to a page where the article is continued. While a good conclusion is an important ingredient for newspaper articles, the immediacy of a deadline environment means that copy editing often takes the form of deleting everything past an arbitrary point in the story corresponding to the dictates of available space on a page. Therefore, newspaper reporters are trained to write in inverted pyramid style, with all the most important......

...make the changes that others not only don’t see, but haven’t even thought to look for. The old cliché is that the first step is to admit there is a problem. That is where humans can go wrong. Because it is far easier to ignore the problem and work around the problem then to try to fix the problem. Change can inflict fear, the fear of failure. Role of Delivery Skills: Some of the lower level ‘leaders’ are experts delivering the product or idea. However, that is only a small part to the overall process of innovation. It is important to be able to deliver the product for lack of a better term. The idea of how to change the process in order to fix or improve a product is great. But the sole idea without the follow through to see that the new plan is implemented the idea is worthless. Just like the workers or follows flawlessly achieving just inside the box and never striving to reach past the broken process to improve the product is just as worthless. Leadership Practices that Support Innovation in Organizations: How does one foster the part of the process of which he or she is lacking? Being able to self-identify is the first step. Leslie states that “data show that many leaders’ strengths are not in areas that are most important for success. Organizations report greater bench strength in areas of building and mending relationships, compassion and sensitivity, cultural adaptability, respecting individual differences, composure, and self-awareness. In organizations......

It is essential to generate power that you need when you want things to change. self-empowerment: Self-empowerment is controlling your emotions, your feelings, the way you think. The ability to generate positive thoughts when you are facing problems in your life will help you to face these issues in a productive manner. Also self-empowerment is the key for success and achieving your dreams. define who you are Realizing who you are is an important thing to move ahead in life. Defining yourself comes from a combination of expressing your values and acknowledging your strengths. Knowing these things will give you a clear picture of where you want to go and the tools you have to get there. Once you have defined who you are, you now have the power to approach your life and goals from a position of strength instead of using a set of tools that has been thrust upon you. Confidence comes from a combination of healthy self-esteem and feeling comfortable in the situation. When you go into every situation feeling at ease with who you are, no matter what happens, you’ll come out ahead. When you understand that you don’t have to live under other people’s definition of who you are, it’s mind-blowingly liberating. You know longer have to waste time worrying what other people think about you or trying to live up (or down to!) their expectations.
