The role of ethics and social responsibility aids organizations in developing a strong strategic plan, while addressing the needs of stakeholders. Ethics and social responsibility require social awareness to address the needs of the environment and to increase the knowledge of employees, which will lead to a corporation focused on supplying the customer with what is needed, managers equipped with solid decision-making abilities, and employees who believe that he or she are an asset to the business. It is the executive manager’s responsibility to establish a clear vision for the corporation and place a specific focus on understanding stakeholder’s needs. In an effort to support these requirements agendas and regulations will be developed to maintain and enforce business ethics within the organization. It is vital for an organization to establish a firm code of ethics for employees and managers to agree and adhere to equality within the organization. Establishing a universal understanding of ethics and expanding the knowledge and of ethics will strengthen the corporation socially by enforcing respect towards everyone, respect for the organization and a corporation that is working together to form a universal business. Ethics are the morals, values, and beliefs of individuals it is the right and wrong behavior and believes of individuals. ...Decision-Making Process Paper MGT/230 Decision-Making Process Paper Important decisions are made daily within my life that will ultimately affect my future. Lifelong challenges which include career path choices, personal wellbeing, and lifetime goals are constantly evaluated; seeking to achieve a greater result. The ideal decision-making process as described in (Management: Leading & Collaborating in a Competitive World) Bateman and Snell (2011) includes six stages: * Identify and diagnose the problem * Generate alternative decisions * Evaluate alternatives * Making the choice * Implementing the decision * Evaluating the decision I use this method to make decisions and evaluate all possibilities before implementing the idea into an action. When I decided to go back to school, I had the option to continue with my last employer to change for a lighter workload while attending. I did not want to limit myself to my previous hourly wage and position. I look at all alternatives before deciding to focus on school and obtaining my real estate license to establish another source of income. Implementing decisions are challenging in the sense that you may face opposition towards changes. (Decisions are likely to attract varying degrees of opposition, ranging from mild dissent to outright resistance.) ("Laynetworks", n.d) Once an idea is implemented into my daily life, I constantly evaluate my situation to determine if my actions are leading to my......

...Decision-Making Process Paper Jovon Roberson MGT/230 December 17, 2012 Juan Mobley Decision-Making Process Paper My name is Jovon Roberson, I will be discussing my decision making process. I will try to supply research supporting my ideas. The paper will describe some steps of my process. I will compare some similarity to the text, and explain how some of the steps might be different. Most decisions people make in their life time will definitely be easy and some maybe very difficult. I truly believe that each individual is in control of their own destiny and in complete control of the decisions they have to make in their life time. My decision to start school was clearly decided right after I was terminated from my job. I was ill at the time and desperately needed to file for the family medical leave of absence so my job would not be in jeopardy, but that was a total loss. Once terminated I clearly had to make some important decisions about the future of my son and I, while thinking long and hard about how I was going to make ends meet. I had a discussion with one of my best friends and I came to the grips that I needed more than what I was getting and this really was my only option going to school. My steps are somewhat different from the ones in the text, but it is clear they there were important steps to take while making my decision to go back to school and I really believe it was one of the best decision I could have made. My decisions would have been......

...Decision Making Process Ashley Lopez MGT 230 University of Phoenix September 26th, 2013 The decision making process used by the student is one which focuses on the pros and cons of the decision needed to be made and potential consequences of the decision whether they are positive or negative. When purchasing a new vehicle the student had to base her decision on the financial obligations it would take in order to be able to afford the new car and whether or not it would take from other financial obligations she already had. The first process in the student’s decision making process was to identify the pros and cons of purchasing a new car. the pros were that the student would have better and more reliable transportation than her current vehicle, the costs of repairing her current vehicle would decrease to none because the vehicle would be new and the potential for the vehicle to break was slim to none, the new vehicle would have more space and a warranty as well. The cons of purchasing a new vehicle for the student was that the new vehicle’s payments would be more than her current vehicle which meant less money for luxury items and the increase in cost of insurance for the new vehicle. The pros clearly outweighed the cons in this matter. The second step was to determine which vehicle would be most suitable for the student and hr child. Once the student chose the vehicle she wanted, she then searched the area for the best deal, although not sacrificing quality for......

...• What is the new strategic role of human resources (HR)? How does this role affect you in your current position? Is this effect positive or negative? Why VARIANT 1 The role of human resources is a large responsibility to take on. It not only involves the hiring, training and evaluation of employees but takes entire control of the human capital within an organization. Human resources has all the responsibility to monitor the basic operations of a company. From design of work to recruiting all the way to working with supervisors and supporting the organizations strategy. Ensuring that the Human Resource department is critical yet ethical can help a business become a success. At my place of work, it is so small that we do not have a human resources department. The President of the company oversees all the responsibilities of the company. I believe that putting in a human resources department would help even the owners of the company stay honest and ethical in the decisions that are being made throughout the company. Is Human Resources positive or negative? If a human resource representative holds all the attributes of human relations, decision-making, leadership and technical skills then he or she would be a great benefit to a company. They would be able to oversee if any wrong-doing is going on in the organization and stop it immediately. Also, the human resource representative can ensure that all the recruits to the company are well qualified and trained to......

In fact, that is one of behaviors of transformational leadership. According to our textbook, “Transformational leaders influence, inspire, move, and literally transform followers to achieve organizational goals beyond their self-interests (Burns, 1978), thus initiating and bringing about positive change,” (Weiss, 2011, p.51). There are four behaviors of transformational leadership. They are idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. Idealized influence is the charisma that can inspire followers, (Weiss, 2011). They will want to be like their leader filled with charm and will likely follow him/her because of that charm. Inspirational motivation is exactly what it sounds like. The leader will be able to inspire their followers toward completion of goals. Intellectual stimulation excites followers by pushing them to think outside of the norm. According to our textbook, “Intellectual stimulation can include such leadership behaviors and practices as brainstorming, challenging the beliefs and norms of the group to innovate and be creative, promoting critical thinking and problem solving to make the organization better, and persuading......

...MGT 380 WEEK 3 DQ 1&2 A+ Graded Tutorial Available At: Visit Our website: Product Description MGT 380 Week 3 DQ 1&2, 1– It is important for a leader to be able to manage across cultures because the business place is no longer confined by location. Communication has changed dramatically and is technologically-focused in today’s market. This difference in communication technology has broken down distance barriers, allowing business to be done in more than one location at a time. According to our textbook, “First, the U.S. population is changing, which affects workforce demographics. Second, globalization, or the increasing integration of regional and national economies, is changing the way the world does business,”(Weiss, 2011, pp. 120-121). The workplace requires emphasis on cultural diversity to thrive. An Introduction to Leadership states, “Companies are now able to conduct business on a global scale, employing people all over the world through outsourcing and recruiting talent. Professionals can fly from country to country for meetings or simply hold a video conference call. The U.S. workforce is affected at all levels, as people of different educational backgrounds, generations, and cultures interact,”(Weiss, 2011, p.121). 2– In the case of Zappos, the organizational culture influences the leader. According to our textbook, “As CEO Tony Hsieh stated, “We’ve actually said......

For the human resource frame, I scored 20. For the political frame, I scored 14. For the symbolic frame, I scored 13. I scored low in the structural frame. According to our textbook, “A low score may mean a blind spot,” (Weiss, 2011, p.154). This means that I would most likely not flourish in a bureaucratic-type culture. I find it odd that I would score so low on the structural frame as I really enjoy procedure and structure in my personal and work life. I scored highest in the human resource frame. I really appreciated scoring high in the human resource frame as my minor is in human resources. This means that I focus on people, developing their skills, seeing their growth as a personal accomplishment, and seeing them as not just a means to and end– but as the most important part of the organization. 2- Vision is the foundation of a successful organization. It is the base on which mission statements and strategies must be built on. Our textbook states that, “Teams can be led by a formal leader or through a particular division of labor across team members. This distribution of leadership responsibilities is called team leadership capacity (Day, Gronn, & Salas, 2004), with capacity referring to the potential for such leadership to fulfill those responsibilities,”(Weiss, 2011, p.179). Bill Wrigley Jr. II and Bill Perez shared responsibilities at Wrigley. According to An Introduction to Leadership, “Perez managed the day-to-day operations and finances, while Wrigley focused on long-term strategy and culture,” (Weiss, 2011, p.179). Both took equal responsibility for the company tasks. The two together were able to accomplish more than they would have been able to separately. In other words, they exhibited synergy (Weiss, 2011). 2—- Using Kotter’s eight-step change theory can improve the process of change in an organization dramatically. In this discussion I have chosen three of the eight steps to explain and provide examples of. The first step I will discuss is Stage 1: Create Urgency. This stage encourages......

...Functions of management MGT/230 Week 1 Functions of management Management, or the successful operation of a business or organization, can be simply described as the implementation of processes and procedures in order to solve problems in a productive and resourceful manner. This process can be carried out by means of what are commonly designated as the utilities or functions of management. The four common functions are: planning, organizing, leading and controlling which have the projected outcome of making use of any businesses available assets and resources in such a way that its mission statement and goals can be acceptably accomplished. The first and possibly most important step of managing an organization or business is the planning step. This function of management involves predicting the potential course the organization will be directed toward in upcoming months and years and coordinating specific routes that need to be followed in order to reach the businesses full potential. The planning phase of business management is a comprehensive program that concerns impending plans for specific actions. “Planning is concerned with the future impact of today's decisions.
