Debate/ Ms. Joudeh
Affirmative: Death penalty should be abolished.
Definitions: Death penalty: capital punishment
Abolished: To put an end to.

Criminal punishment is a huge source of controversy in the United States. Opponents often argue that innocent people are sometimes executed and that the main motive is revenge, not true justice. Those who support the death penalty debate that the punishment offers retribution for victims of murder and is more cost efficient than offering life sentences in prison. Whether or not the death penalty will remain legal in the United States has yet to be seen. There are many reasons why the death penalty should be abolished: Executions are carried out at staggering cost to taxpayers, Innocent people have been convicted and executed, Race plays a role in determining who lives and who dies, and the death penalty is applied at random.
It costs far more to execute a person than to keep him or her in prison for life. A 2011 study found that California has spent more than $4 billion on capital punishment since it was reinstated in 1978 and that death penalty trials are 20 times more expensive than trials seeking a sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole. California currently spends $184 million on the death penalty each year and is on track to spend $1 billion in the next five years.
Scientific studies have consistently failed to demonstrate that executions deter people from committing crime any more than long prison sentences. Moreover, states without the death penalty have much lower murder rates. The South accounts for 80% of US executions and has the highest regional murder rate.
The wrongful execution of an innocent person is an injustice that can never be rectified. Since the reinstatement of the death penalty, 142 men and women have been released from Death Row…...

Despite the arguments of Individualism being a misconception, there are others who believe Individualism does exist. Take for an example this article One nation under individualism  by Maryam Hamedani and Hazel Markus explains why Individualism exist in this world. “We found that, for Americans, thinking about their ties to others sapped their motivation compared to thinking about their freedom from others. Also, “thinking we” led participants to feel weak and give up sooner than did ‘thinking me.’ (nydailynews).” Individualism throughout American history: As James Bryce, British ambassador to the United States (1907–13), wrote in The American Commonwealth (1888), “Individualism, the love of enterprise, and the pride in personal freedom have been deemed by Americans not only their choicest, but [their] peculiar and exclusive possession.” (Britannica.) ...group me and my colleagues Maryam and Ebtisam. They were very cooperative while doing the project, every one of us took part from the project. For example Maryam was working on the childrens activities, Ebtisam was working in the both genders activities and me I worked on the ladies activities. Luckily, the project was going perfectly we divide all the activities based on the genders and what is suitable to each gender, also we decide what is the best timing to each activity. Moreover, it was interesting to go in deep and know more about tourism in Fujairah and to meet different people like is Mr. Martin John to give us more details about the male activities. However, I meet Mrs. Maryam she gave us useful information and she was very cooperative with me and she welcomed us and was ready to meet us all and to be more specific. Unfortunately, we faced few problems while doing this project. First we decide to choose Arabian Adventure as our tourism guide to help us in this project, but after almost two weeks we called them because we need some information, a lady who answered the phone when we asked her some questions she apologize and she didn’t help us and she told us if we need any information we should visit their website. Jesus

...The prophet Jesus pbuh in the holy Qur’an The prophet Jesus pbuh, known as Isa or Isa Ibn Maryam in the holy Qur’an, is considered to be a messenger of god in Islam who came before the prophet Muhammad pbuh and is mentioned in the holy Qur’an on numerous occasions. The verses of the Qur’an regarding Jesus pbuh include stories such as Mary conceiving him whilst still a virgin, the details of his birth, and his talking to the people whilst still in his cradle. Also mentioned is the revelation of the Gospel (Injil) onto the prophet Jesus pbuh, his ascending and his second coming before the Day of Judgment. The many amazing facts and miracles referring to the prophet Jesus throughout the Qur’an reflect that he is clearly a significant figure in the Qur’an and in Islam. The birth of Jesus pbuh was a miraculous event as described in the holy Qur’an. Jesus’ mother Mary was visited by the angel Gabriel who gave her good news of a son: 'O Mary, God gives you glad tidings of a son through a word from HIM; his name will be Christ Jesus, son of Mary, honored in this world and in the Hereafter, and of those nearest to God (Quran 3:45). Mary was shocked by this news, as she was still a virgin. She asked the angel how she could have a child when no man had ever touched her. The angel replied: So your Lord says, ‘It is easy for me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to men and a mercy from Us.  And it is a matter (already) decided (Quran 19:16-21). The Qur’an states the virgin birth of...

...Al-Esmael Presented by: Dana AL-Zubaidi 201106564 Due 25th of December 2014 Analysis Maryam Qureshi case is one of the cases that show the role of “haraam” practices on behaviour and performance of employees. Maryam is a customer support specialist in the People’s Services inc, a very successful organization with high qualified employees and a reputation that is praised by the public. When Maryam firstly joined the company, she was a productive employee with high performance evaluations continuously, but suddenly, at some point, her performance started to be weak and her efficiency was decreasing. She acted in a very mad manner and many negative attitudes have been observed by her supervisor Haleema such as being late, taking long breaks for lunch, and her evaluations generally started to fall. Haleema decided to meet up with the boss; Nikhat, to discuss Maryam’s situation and try to come up with evidences about what are the major factors that resulted in Maryams attitude through the first year period she spent in the company. Her attitude and performance were like in an elevator, many ups and downs, and all was shown in the performance evaluations. Maryam received her first written disciplinary notice regarding her attendance and punctuality for January and February, she claimed that she had some problems at home, as her co-workers expected as well. After the first notice, Maryam got back again to business and the high performance and activeness was back again.......

Prophet Eesaa

...Prophet Eesaa While Maryam (Mary), may Allaah exalt her mention, was praying in her place of worship, an angel in the form of a man appeared before her. Filled with terror, she tried to flee, praying: {قَالَتْ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِالرَّ‌حْمَـٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِيًّا . قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَ‌بُّكِ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ ۖ وَلِنَجْعَلَهُ آيَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَرَ‌حْمَةً مِّنَّا ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرً‌ا مَّقْضِيًّا} 'Translation' {…'Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, (so leave me), if you should be fearing of Allaah.' He said: 'I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you (news of) a pure boy (i.e., son).' She said: 'How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?' He said: 'Thus (it will be); your Lord says: 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter (already) decreed.'} [Maryam:18-21]. The angel's visit caused Maryam, may Allaah exalt her mention, great anxiety, which increased as the months went by. How could she face giving birth to a child without having a husband? Later, she felt life kicking inside her. With a heavy heart, she left the place of prayer and went to Nazareth, the city in which she had been born, where she settled in a simple farm house to avoid the public. But fear and anxiety did not......

Feminizm

Racism

...actually start working, that really not the case (Maryam, Umm). People should be born free and be able to pick his or her own destiny. Not being able to do that is like being a prisoner with no trial and no escape. Saudi Arabia is a country where almost 10 percent of the society is refused equal rights just because the color of their skin! Black men are forbidden to run for a governmental stand and black women are indicted and can’t do anything to help themselves. Children are forced to go where ever the most powerful person in their family wants them to be. Even though in 1962, under pressure, they abolished slavery, princes and princesses from Saudi Arabia still sell slaves on social media! (Greenfield, Daniel). That’s just inhumane and corrupt for people to be doing to others that don’t deserve a thing coming to them. This country has gotten the world to pay attention to the racist and extreme dealing methods for the Muslim refugees. It was also said that everyone should leave alone any racist speeches and only contribute to the well-being of the refuges who are trying to escape. Saudi is in huge dismay after the events in the World War II. There is close to about 20 million African-American refugees and 40 million undeserving people caught up in this mess and that number is still climbing. (McClatchy). Saudi Arabia should not be able to hold people like hostages, especially 40 million people! That’s brutal!   Work Cited Maryam, Umm. "Racism in Saudi Arabia?" Umm......

...Maryam Hadadj Summary: Using my results from my questionnaires I can see that quite a lot of people had a positive view towards science. The people I questioned ranged from teenagers, to teachers to the general public. Doing this ensured that my results had a wide range of opinions. Most of the people I gave the questionnaire to gave me useful feedback that helped me understand their views on the role and importance of science. Everyone that completed the questionnaire stated that science should be taught in school as it helps everyone understand the world better and it also gives us a different view towards science. One person felt that science should defiantly be taught in schools as they stated that 'we need to understand the world we live in'. Most of the people that completed my questionnaire did not really have any knowledge on current issues associated with science in the news. This shows that many may not have an interest in watching the news or finding out about current issues in science. From carrying out this questionnaire I have started to understand the publics views on what scientists do, many stated that they research and do experiments etc. Doing this helps us gain more evidence to prove things for example scientific theories. From my questionnaire I can conclude that the issues that people knew about were very general as they were related to the environment for example global warming, pollution and climate change. I have gathered an......

Change Management in Ericsson

...1. CASE ANALYSIS Maryam Zarrinjouei, a software designer at Ericsson, who was a group member in this change management, was interviewed whose comments would be referred to during the discussion of application of Kotter’s eight step theory. The case analysis is based on the given answers and the corresponding theory proposed by Kotter. Kotter listed and provided thorough explanations for reasons of failure of business organizations during the implementation of transformation process. As shown in the theoretical framework, there are eight steps for organizational changes and the analysis consists of eight parts accordingly in order to investigate if they have been implemented at Ericsson during the integration of 4G systems. The results show that the change model proposed by Kotter is highly considered in the change management of Ericsson. 2.1. Establishing a Sense of Urgency According to Kotter, the first step that prepares any organization to accept a change is to keep the level of complacency as low as possible and make sure that the sense of urgency is prominent. Maryam confirmed that the organizational change in telecommunication industry is characterized by high uncertainty levels and most of people involved are aware of that uncertainty. There were many awareness activities to which disastrous consequences may happen in case that transformation was not considered. That was what Kotter mentioned as triggering the sense of urgency by revealing some......
