Marvelous Christmas Vacation

...Marvelous Christmas Vacation Marvelous Christmas Vacation “There is no place like home.” The above passage made me eager to go home. My Christmas vacation started on December 19, 2010, so I left MSU together with my sister on that day also after attending Misa de Gallo. When I arrived home, my youngest brother surprised me. Because of the long time we didn’t see other we gave and received hugs and kisses in our family. Early in the morning in the next day, we attended the Misa de Gallo in our place since it has become a tradition in our family to attend the nine-day period of prayer or in short Misa de Gallo from December 16 through December 24 at dawn everyday to prepare ourselves in commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. Also, in our church it is our attitude that in every after Misa de Gallo there is always painit to be serve to the people who attended the mass. Christmas Vacation

...t was Thursday morning, December 23, and I rolled over and tried to focus a bleary eye on my alarm clock. I was 30 minutes late starting my Christmas vacation. Vacations are suppose to be fun, restful periods, so I had a strong inclination to do that and go back to sleep. But no, that’s not the American way. We have to go, go, go in order to get the most out of our vacations. We set schedules, make reservations and become slaves to them. I started wishing I were Samoan. Many folks stay home and celebrate Christmas with family and friends, but not me. I am a bachelor who likes to take every opportunity to go places and see new things. I have no family except two sisters – one 500 miles away and the other 3000 miles away. I had a month off from work, and I certainly wasn’t going to waste it hanging around the house and watching myself grow old. I had packed the previous day and partied the previous night, so my things were ready but I was not. It is difficult to overcome the urge to stay in bed and say the heck with plans. I’m not sure why I didn’t. I made my unsteady way into the bathroom where a hot shower put me in a better frame of mind. An hour later my dog Nina and I were in my truck and headed for the stable to get my horse and trailer. Nina and my horse are my immediate family, so I like to take them with me on vacation whenever possible. At the stable a colleague of mine, Pam, was visiting my horse BJ. She watched as I quickly hooked up my trailer and loaded......

Vacation

...The shadow of the palm trees reflecting on the soft sand at the beach side, while the waves of the beach are hitting the ground, is what makes this place so special. Just to imagine sitting at the beach while the palm trees are creating a shadow on my skin, and at the same time their branches are waving back and forth to provide a clear and clean breeze, is so relaxing. Therefore, I chose this State for my favorite vacation place. This alone that the nickname of the State is Sunshine State (en.wikipedia.org) shows a lot because that is what it is all about, a place to recognize the sun and its amazing features warming up the world to the joy of its people, making the climate so pleasant and relaxing. In fact, throughout the winter season, the climate is never below 60 degree and frost has never been reported there (www.statesymbolsusa.org). Furthermore, whenever I was there the sun always shone brightly comforting me with his strong sun rays, making it a place to escape from the cold New York during the freezing winter days. While strolling down the long and endless boardwalk, I got so inspired by its breathtaking sceneries. Starting from the beautiful beach view continuing to the white sand covered shore on one side, and on the other side many sky-high luxurious hotels each one with its amazing spa areas including incredible outdoor saunas and heated pools. Even after sunset the area does not lose its nice view since the colorful eye-catching lights take over by......

Vacation

...Sample Essay – My Summer Vacation I had a fantastic summer vacation! My family and I spent a lot of time at the beach. We also went on a trip to Disney World. We ended our summer by traveling to southern California for a soccer tournament. It was nice to be able to spend so much time with my family this summer. In the beginning of the summer, I went to the beach with my kids at least once a week. We were so lucky because every time we were at the beach I saw the dolphins splashing playfully in the surf. We would usually arrive around 12:00, when the sand was as hot as coals in a barbecue. Sometimes we would stay until 7:00 in the evening. At the end of the day I loved to watch the flaming red ball creep slowly down into the shimmering ocean. Going to the beach is my favorite thing to do in the summer. Towards the middle of my summer vacation, my whole family and I flew to Florida to visit Disney World. We had never been before, and I could not believe how big and beautiful the Disney property was. It was like being in the center of a rainbow. Everywhere you looked, there was loads of color. The weather was hot and humid. We were soaked with sweat the entire time, but we were able to refresh ourselves in the beach-like pool. We stayed at a hotel called The Beach Club, and the pool there actually had sand at the bottom of it. It was fun to travel all the way to Florida. As my vacation was coming to an end, we made a trip to Huntington Beach for my......

Vacations

...Vacations Doris A. Davis Vacations Cruises appeal to many travelers because they are considered all-inclusive vacations. Pay one price and receive accommodations, meals, entertainment, and transportation between island and port destinations. But once onboard, many cruisers find themselves shelling out hundreds of additional dollars for shore excursions, alcoholic beverages, and gratuities. What happened to their supposedly all-inclusive vacation? Many land-based resorts also refer to themselves as all-inclusive, yet [the properties offer a different set of included amenities. As I look at the picture my mind can imagine exactly what my experience would be. So what does it really mean to be all-inclusive? I have compared the pictures of all-inclusive resort and cruises at sea I believe all-inclusive land resort vacations are the best. All-inclusive cruises and resorts tend to include different amenities in the base price. Book a mainstream cruise, and you'll receive accommodations, all meals and snacks, certain beverages at meal times, use of the ship's facilities (such as the pool, kids club, and fitness center), onboard activities and entertainment, and transportation between ports-of-call. You will have to pay extra for soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, tips for a waiter, spa treatments, shore excursions, airfare, and airport transfers. Luxury liners may include tips for the waiter and alcohol in their base price. On the other hand, book an all-inclusive resort......

Christmas

...Christmas is a holiday celebrated by Romans. The first time the birth of Jesus Christ was ascribed to December 25 in the 4th century, according to the early Roman history. Early celebrations of Christmas are considered to have resulting from Roman and other European festivals that marked the ending of the harvest, and the beginning of winter solstice. Some traditions from those celebrations that have survived include decorating homes with greenery, giving presents, singing songs, and eating winter foods. There is a legend about St. Nicholas. Although a lot of his history is unconfirmed, he lived in the 4th century and is believed that he was a bishop. Many miracles ascribed to him are doubtful. Yet he was considered a patron saint in some countries. Children, sailors, and the poor also considered him a saint because he helped them. So to honor him, the Feast of Saint Nicholas was celebrated on December 6th and presents are given the night before. This tradition was well recognized by many countries by the 12th century. Eventually, Christmas Day and St. Nicholas’ Day were combined because they were so close together. St. Nicholas took on different characters in different countries. For example, The Netherlands have Sinter Klaas, Father Christmas gives gifts in Great Britain, Père Noël gives gifts in France, and in Germany St. Nicholas has had many names including Klaasbuur, Burklaas, Rauklas, Bullerklaas, and Sunnercla, although the name Father Christmas is becoming......

Christmas Is Christmas

...Christmas or Christmas Day is a holiday[4][5][6] generally observed on December 25 (with alternative days of January 7 for many Orthodox churches, January 6 for the Armenian Apostolic Church and January 19 for the Armenians of Jerusalem and the Holy Land[7]) to commemorate the birth of Jesus, the central figure of Christianity.[8][9] The date the actual birthday of Jesus is not known, and the events of Christ's birth are only recorded in two of the Canonical gospels. Christmas may have initially been chosen to correspond with either the day exactly nine months after Christians believe Jesus to have been conceived,[10] the date of the Roman winter solstice,[11] or one of various ancient winter festivals.[10][12] Christmas is central to the Christmas and holiday season, and in Christianity marks the beginning of the larger season of Christmastide, which lasts twelve days.[13] Although nominally a Christian holiday, Christmas is also celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians worldwide,[1][14][15] and many of its popular celebratory customs have pre-Christian or secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, music, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations; including Christmas trees, lights, garlands, mistletoe, nativity scenes, and holly. In addition, in Western Christianity several figures, known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, and Santa Claus, among other...
