Introduction

This paper will present the Final Integrative Network Design outlining the cumulative plan that Kudler Fine Foods has accepted and agreed on for implementation of the following:

Final Network Design
The integrative network design project for Kudler Fine Foods will include Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) will be used as a means of communication within a private network or the internet for Kudler Fine Foods network devices. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is used for transfer of multimedia files, video, sound, and text over the internet. Kudler Fine Foods will implement File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to download files, transfer files, delete files, copy and rename files from the internet as needed. Mesh Protocol will be used to connect all devices such as printers, computers, and scanners on the network. In a true mesh topology every node has a connection to every other node in the network ("Common Physical Network Topologies ", 2014). The network will consist of a hardware firewall blocking unwanted access from outside of the location. The next step is to set up a hub or switch that will connect all of the stores terminals. All of these terminals such as registers and remote locations such as warehouse will be hardwired with twisted pair CAT 5 Ethernet cable. The server will be located in a room in each store with the hub or switch. A wireless access point/router will be centrally located in the store to provide good signal in every part of the store for employees using their handheld devices to be able to view and update the store inventory while on the sales floor
Since the blade servers are easily expanded upon, cost efficient, and energy efficient as well upgrading will be easy, for that reason a Cisco UCS E-Series Server, will…...

Kudler Fine Foods Network Topology Paper

...Integrative Network Design Project James Warren NTC/362 July 30, 2012 Andrew Carpenter Integrative Network Design Project This paper will discuss Kudler Fine Foods desire to upgrade their current outdated infrastructure with current technology that will let them stay competitive in today’s market. In order to do this they will need to tie all three of their existing sites together using wireless and VOIP technology. Distributed Computing Currently all three of the Kudlers facilities utilizes a distributed computing system using the same configuration of single server and multiple pc’s, each with a single UPS and 56k modem for connectivity. The computers are connected to an Ethernet backbone (typically a hub that is not very efficient in handling network traffic for many computers) and the 56k modem is the only external connectivity that the sites have. Centralized Computing In order to bring this system up to standards they will need to update to a more centralized computing system which all computing is done on a centrally managed computer system and the users use a dumb terminal (thin client) to connect to these central computers. The cost associated with this has been reduced over the years and was only used previously in enterprise environments but now more businesses are moving over to this type of system. Network Topologies Kudlers three offices use almost identical setups for their servers, POS systems and their site connectivity. They......

Network Design for Kudler Fine Foods Part 3

...Network Design for Kudler Fine Foods Part 3 Network security is an ever more important part of network design, with everything moving toward being fully electronic and companies expanding their networks farther and farther away from their central hub (by the use of satellites) the chances and opportunities are going ever more present in today’s work place. Kudler fine Foods is making a huge leap forward with redesigning their entire network and by linking all three stores together through a central hub. This is a double edged sword in that this will make the stores more compactable with each other and this will expand there ability to retrieve accurate data from the servers on the fly but this also opens up Kudler Fine Foods to cyber attacks that they have not had to think about before. Hardware is a key component to securing a network. Kudler Fine Foods new network will have multiple hardware choices to make. Each location has Point of Sale (POS) computers that need to be secured from attack; there are office computers that will need to be secure. The POS server will need to be secured as well. There is the wireless Ethernet switch that will connect to the modem and Wide Area Network (WAN) between the three stores. The central hub location for the WAN (the Del Mar store) will also need to make sure the data servers are secured as well as everything else already mentioned. The desktop computers are going to be up to personal preference for Kudler Fine Foods, most desktops......

Upgrading the technology will afford the company the benefit of having better communications internally at each location, as well as being able to communicate better from each branch. This will help to company to maintain a better system for such things as keeping inventory at a predetermined level. Recovering from any catastrophe in an orderly fashion is definitely a concern. Installing the right combination of hardware and software will create a more stable network that will be able to overcome many small bumps on the operation that could have staggering consequences on the current network. It is the goal of the development team to have a better LAN that will serve to enhance the network at each individual location. With that taken care of the upgraded LANs will in turn improve the link between each store on a WAN. Each store will be equipped with wireless capability that will allow for connectivity to all of the other stores and serve as the access for internet. Kudler Fine Foods System Solution

...Kudler Fine Foods System Solution Kudler Fine Foods System Solution Kudler Fine Foods was started by Kathy Kudler in 1998 and is a premiere gourmet grocery store with three different stores located in Southern California for those savvy shoppers who are searching for the finest meats, produce, cheeses, and wine. Customer satisfaction and very little competition are Kudler Fine Foods biggest strengths. However, their biggest weakness is the fact that even Kathy Kudler is the owner of the company; she is the sole person responsible for order replacement, inventory, and all other major business issues. Geographic expansion of the store and store profitability will suffer if Kudler Fine Foods does not diversify into e-commerce, if an Enterprise System is not developed to allow managers and executive to access real time information concerning store locations, and if new inventory and order replacement procedures are not developed to provide all store locations with necessary inventories and the ability to order the specialty items that Kudler Fine Foods is known for. Kudler's New Organizational Structure Kudler Fine Foods will need to adopt a new organizational structure in order for the proposed system solutions to be effective. Kathy Kudler currently is a one person show; she is responsible for all store inventory control and purchases and she travels to each store on a daily basis to manage the stores. This method of management and inventory......

Kudler Fine Foods Network Analysis

...In order to determine the requirements for the new Kudler Fine Foods network design, it is important to understand the importance of communication protocols and define the protocols that would be most effective for the Kudler Fine Foods network. Understanding the usefulness of a traffic analysis and the effect of latency response time and jitter are also necessary. Other aspects of developing an effective network design are understanding the effect of data rate on each part of the network and developing strategies to ensure the availability of network access in switched and routed networks. Communication protocols are the pre-defined set of rules which enable the networked devices to communicate effectively with each other. These protocols determine how messages are sent and received, detect and recover transmission errors and determine how messages are formatted. These protocols are important because they define the guidelines which determine how computers communicate with each other in a standardized manner. The protocol identified for Kudler Fine Foods is the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Protocol Suite. There are many advantages to using this protocol. It is compatible with all operating systems, hardware, software and network configurations. This protocol is routable and highly scalable which enables expansion of the network as needed.
