According to the Big Bang model, the Universe expanded from an extremely dense and hot state and continues to expand today. A common analogy explains that space itself is expanding, carrying galaxies with it, like spots on an inflating balloon. The graphic scheme above is an artist's concept illustrating the expansion of a portion of a flat universe.

The Big Bang theory is the prevailing cosmological model that describes the early development of the Universe.[1] According to the Big Bang theory, the Universe was once in an extremely hot and dense state which expanded rapidly. This rapid expansion caused the Universe to cool and resulted in its present continuously expanding state. According to the most recent measurements and observations, the Big Bang occurred approximately 13.75 billion years ago,[2][3] which is thus considered the age of the Universe.[4][5] After its initial expansion from a singularity, the Universe cooled sufficiently to allow energy to be converted into various subatomic particles, including protons, neutrons, and electrons. While protons and neutrons combined to form the first atomic nuclei only a few minutes after the Big Bang, it would take thousands of years for electrons to combine with them and create electrically neutral atoms. The first element produced was hydrogen, along with traces of helium and lithium. Giant clouds of these primordial elements would coalesce through gravity to form stars and galaxies, and the heavier elements would be synthesized either within stars or during…...

What I Have Learned

...LIFE, AS WE KNOW IT From different ups and downs I had experienced and from different people I have met in my college days, I can say that I had learned so much, much more than high school and elementary days. If those younger years let me become learned of basic education, this stage of life, being a college student taught me more than medical and nursing concepts. But it also taught me about other aspects of life such as the whole life itself, understanding other people’s life and feelings, knowing how me, myself and I help me in every problems, treasuring friendships and respecting other people. Health care spirituality is one of the courses that let me learn how these things affect my living. It teaches me more about life and the consequences of it. Life is a continuing process of learning. I believe that the every good deed, and everything we do to others, will not be written on transcript of records, but recorded on Almighty’s. At first, going to college made me feel ambivalent feelings. Feelings of excitement, fear, feeling of being misunderstood, not being heard, and of being alone. Coming from a Catholic school high school institution, I decided to choose a Catholic college institution. One selfish reason is that, I prefer to go to school which has a lower dense of population, I don’t prefer to be in a crowded universities and college, because I think that the lower the population is, the more focused the teachers and administration can give to the students.......

What I Have Become

...| What I Have Become | Sandtron Leon Harrell | | | | Approaching the end of my Fall Semester of 2011 I had accomplished one of the greatest things in my life. I had become a member Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. All was well and I felt as though there was not too much else for me to conquer. Then as the semester drew to a close being advised and selecting classes for the Spring Semester began to be advertised all over myUWG. So to rid myself of all the irksome alerts of West Georgia I went and got advised. While selecting my classes my advisor brought up Personal Relationships. When I first heard it the first two things I thought were “my girlfriend took that class” and “she said it was easy.” So with me being the collegiate student I am I decided I would take it. I figured why not I’m in a personal relationship I should be able to relate. The first day of class was definitely not what I expected. I did not know that my teacher would look, think and talk like a student! From then on I knew that this was class was going to have the biggest impact on me, the way I thought, the way I talked, the way I evaluated relationships and how I looked at my life’s up and downs all together we’re going to change in due time. From the time I got advised up to the first day of class I honestly thought that this was just going to be another class. When in reality it wasn’t just another class, it was going to be THE class. From January 10, 2012 and so on, my life......

I Have a Dream

...I HAVE A DREAM Good morning everyone. According to the government’s statistics, every year in Hong Kong estimate more than 5700 people died from cigarettes. It accounts for 90% of lung cancer deaths in men, and more than 30% of all cancer deaths. It kills nearly 16 persons in Hong Kong every day. 1 Since 2007, the Hong Kong government has planned to restrict the act of smoking – started with proposals to make restaurants, offices and karaoke smoke free. This legal action indicated the harmful effects of smoking. It also implied that the government was taking intervention to deal with the public smoking problem. I believe that the legislation is not a restriction of freedom, and the law enforcement is not a prevention of enjoyment, but a mean to move Hong Kong towards a healthier city. However, we have just achieved partial success. Although the number of smokers is declining, we still have a long way to go. We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. All people have their right to enjoy, but, when this right endangers the safety and health of the others, it should be prohibited. So, today, we need a change. Even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. I have a dream that, one day everyone can take a deep breath and feel the marvelous fresh air in a busy street. I have a dream that, one day all people can smile with their teeth in snow-white......

...“I have a Dream” On August 28, one of the most powerful speeches was given by Martin Luther King Jr.During the mid-20th Century, racism was a huge issue in the United States, which the most prominent was the racism of African-Americans. Although all blacks were supposed to be free, under a corrupt law system, blacks were victimized mercilessly. Therefore, blacks decided to try and change the system and multiple civil rights activists and groups appeared. Throughout the 1960s, King engaged in various civil rights boycotts and protests, helping to further the movement and gaining its eventual victory.Out of all of his civil rights-related efforts, he gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech in our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. The speech was given in front of the Lincoln Memorial and is known by many as one of the most influential speeches on freedom and the equality of Americans, regardless of their race. 200,000 people gathered to hear Dr. King talk about the segregation and discrimination against African Americans in our nation at that time. In his speech He used pathos such as using the bible to get emotional reactions, with logos he gave real life situations as examples, and ethos he used what people thought and knew about Abraham Lincoln. This were just a few examples of what he said in his speech. King bought to the attention of the American people that our country was founded upon freedom and as a democracy we have the right to change laws and......

I Have a Dream

...A Dream That Is Still Coming True After studying the Emancipation Proclamation and segregation is high school, I know a little bit about black suffrage and the Civil Rights Movement. However, Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech “I Have a Dream” puts it into perspective just a little bit better. No one truly knows the severity of a situation until they hear it from a primary source. If I had to pick one quote to sum up what I learned, I would have to choose, “It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment.” Learning about segregation in my high school was very different from reading about it in this speech. I went to a mostly white high school with very few minorities. Of course we touched on the subject and discussed how it was awful but there was no one to put emotion into it. There was no one to make us see just how unfairly African Americans were treated. Being from a small, slightly Southern town, I think I was stripped of the opportunity to become more familiar with black culture. That being said, I do think King’s speech was effective, however, the effects still haven’t reached some people. King had amazing intentions with this speech. He wanted nothing more than freedom and equal rights for African Americans. I do believe this speech was straight from the heart and sincere in every way. Personally, I think he was right in every way making this speech and saying things that no one had dared to say in public. No African American had been able...

What I Have Learned

...A few Things I have learned in my 18 Years Life tosses a lot of lessons, some are difficult to learn and some are easier, it’s all about how you handle it. Something’s that life wants you to know, are little and stupid and seem life they don’t have any significance to your life. However, it is either going to educate you not to do it again, or it will be a amusing story to tell your friends down the road. The little things make life a little lighter sometimes where as the large things helps you open your eyes and helps you in the long run. Life has taught me numerous things. Everyday I learn something new, adding to that list. One of the very first things that I recall learning, is to not lie on the ground attempting to look underneath the vacuum when mom is in the middle of vacuuming. For some individuals, this lesson is one that does not need to be learned, but for me, it was something I had to learn. Spending hours of crying, as my mother pulled every strand of hair out, and hours of my mom being annoyed yet laughing about it anyways because how bizarre is it, that I got my hair stuck in the vacuum. While facing the pain, I thought I learned that I should steer clear of housework; my mom on the other hand, did not. Something else I have learned is that telling someone that they look ill or worn-out, isn’t going to make him or her feel better. I, of all people should know, this because if someone were to walk up to me and say something like that, my heart would...

...Economic opportunity, social equality and personal freedom are societal ideals desired by nearly every individual, and such is no different for those who lived the Cuban Revolution. Poet and political activist Nicolás Guillén well documents these widely sought after ideals in Cuban society by expressing the newfound liberties of post-revolutionary Cuba in his 1964 poem “I Have.” Through anaphoric repetition of the poem’s titular phrase, Guillén emphatically depicts a vibrant Cuban nation teeming with natural beauty, societal peace and equality, and individual liberties by poetically listing the newfound personal freedoms and opportunities of post-revolutionary Cuban society. Guillén illustrates the dissipation of racial and class divisions by establishing himself, “being Black,” as a firsthand authority in witnessing the changing social climate of Cuba (29). By specifically referring to his skin color as a source of his authority on the subject, Guillén establishes ethos in his firsthand accounts of how racial and class boundaries are deteriorating. To evidence his assertion of a positively transformed social climate, Guillén illustrates a new Cuban society devoid of racist mentalities and remarks by calling upon specific examples of how no one can “stop [him] at the door” or “on the rug of a hotel” and how no one can “scream at [him] that there are no rooms” (30-32). Guillén’s illustration of dissipating racial tensions is accompanied his personal account of how he......

...Turner Estes English 152 Thornhill 9/29/15 Justice for All The author of the “I Have a Dream” speech is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., King is well known for his efforts during the Civil Rights movement in the 1960’s. Throughout King’s speech, he uses numerous rhetorical devices to connect to his audience to influence change in the minds of black and white Americans about equal rights. The speech was intended for a very wide variety of people and was given in Washington to possibly influence politicians. Throughout King’s, “I Have a Dream”, speech he uses purposeful repetition, alliteration, and imagery to connect with the audience on an emotional level to realize America has fallen short of its promises. Throughout Dr. King’s speech he gave in Washington D.C. he used vivid imagery to give his audience of over two hundred-thousand people a visual concept of the message he gave. This is a very powerful rhetorical device because it connects the audience by putting a visual image in their heads. In this quote King uses the words dark and valley as he tries to express how the current state of racism across America, “Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.” The word dark typically describes a place of little or no light and people typically do not like that. The word valley is a low place that is typically a hard spot to get out of and people don’t like being trapped either. So by King using a dark valley......

I Have a Rendezvous with Death

..."I Have a Rendezvous with Death" Alan Seeger was an American poet. He lived during what is known to us as the most crucial time in man's history. The poem "I Have a Rendezvous with Death," was actually written during world war one. Without a doubt, this poem made me give death many divers thoughts. What I conclude after reading this poem is that Alan Seeger wanted people to know that dying for your country was the noblest attempt in which death takes place. All this to say that being a patriot is far more than just a privilege. The first stanza is the most striking of the three it makes a great relation between, spring, blossoms, and birth. Of course, we must not forget that at some point or another it is inevitable to escape death. All this makes a link with war, all the tons of people that died in war have them too meet death. Just as spring come around every year, it also brings about new faces and new challenges to life. These new people are probably the ones that were much to young to take part in it previously. Stanza two, takes you through the stages of death. With the angel of death, nearly holding you hand all along the way and reassuring you that everything will be fine. That you are of course doing this for your land and people. This too made me have a visual image of dead people scattered around on the fields, up on the hills. So helpless, dead and left all alone for the winter's cold. Yet, come spring their bodies no long their, probably decomposed and the......

Dr. Martin Luther’s “I have a Dream Speech” is one of the most important and influential speeches ever given. This speech was given in Washington D.C. amongst high racial tensions in the U.S. between white southerners and black southerners. This speech perfectly personified the feelings and ideas of 90% of the black community. Dr. King spoke for the minorities that had no voice during this time period. Dr. King’s speech is well known for his hope for the future of his country and his people. Dr. King started with, “….even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.” Stating that in his interpretation of the American dream, he begins with “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal." ...Chapter 6- Health Care Marketing 1. According to Buchbinder & Shanks, (2012) marketing is defined as the process of creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, and society as a whole (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012, p. 96.). The main principles of marketing are to satisfy customers, target the 'right' customers, facilitate exchange relationships, stay ahead of competitors and enhance profitability. These principles are essential for managers to understand and satisfy their customers in the health care industry. The person receiving care must be pleased with the services received from the health care facility, and the health care facility must likewise be satisfied with the financial reward received in the exchange. The hospital that adopts the key components of the marketing concept is likely to identify patients needs, provide products and services at an acceptable price and stress the benefits through promotion. The most important reason to satisfy customers seeking medical service is that they will become repeat customers or users of the facility. Consumers want to feel they are getting the most value for their money, and this includes the health care industry. Therefore, marketing mainly consists of satisfying target customers while striving to seek their loyalty and consumption. 2. In the past, healthcare organization were slow to incorporate marketing because many felt it was an inappropriate and......
