...Deborah Rodriguez April 22, 2014 Social Security & Disability Seminar Assignment Unit 4 In unit four, we learned about the attorney fees that came up with our assignment. There are two main sources of attorney’s fees in Social Security cases. Most awards by far are paid by the claimant, usually out of past-due benefits. Another source of fees is the Equal Access to Justice Act (EAJA), a federal fee-shifting statute. For the most part, attorney’s fees for OASDI and SSI claims are governed by the same or similar rules. Many of the same rules apply also to non-attorney representatives. Attorney’s fees paid out of the claimant’s benefits are regulated by statute and regulations. Fees for claims resolved within SSA are authorized at the administrative level where the final decision is reached. Thus, administrative law judges approve fees in cases where a favorable hearing decision was issued, and the Appeals Council authorizes fees in cases decided finally only by the Appeals Council. The representative must file a request for fees in writing, which must include a list of services performed, the amount of the fee, and any expenses incurred. SSA considers a number of factors when evaluating a representative’s request for fees, including the type and amount of services performed, the difficulty of the case (including the skill required of the representative), and the results achieved. Although the amount of benefits received is taken into consideration, it does...

Advantages * It is accessible to all modules in a program * You only have to declare it once outside the modules * It is good to use it for constants you want to keep consistent * It simplifies maintenance, avoids duplication of local constants * It can make a program easier to read in reference to constants Disadvantages * It makes debugging difficult * If modules use global variables it is dependent upon the module and if other modules are presented you have to redesign all over each time. * Any statement in a program can change the variable * It makes a program hard to understand since it can be modified and have to be aware of all other parts of the program that access it. * Global variables are not willing direct into flowcharts 2. How can you declare global and local variables in flowcharts? * Global variables are displayed in pseudo code but not in flowcharts directly In order to declare global variables in a flowchart, you’d put that variable in the main part of the program (the main box where other functions will branch off from) for local variables, you’d put those variables in the box where each separate functions executed. 3. What is the main difference between global and local variables? * A global variable applies to the entire application you are writing as for a local variable it could only apply for the section you are......

...AB140-04: Intro to Management Unit 4 Assignment Matthew Barnett I think creating a new position between the CEO and the location managers would help grow the business. I think this would give the managers at the locations a direct person more accessible to speak with about the business. I think it’s important to promote within to fill this position. This was there is already someone who knows the business and won’t be starting from scratch. Promoting within makes current employees more hopeful for future opportunities and the current employees are already comfortable with this person being promoted. I think all management currently in place should have a say so in the decision making of who will be the person they are reporting to under the CEO. This is important so everyone feels like their voice is being heard. You don’t want to step on peoples toes and create animosity between managers and upper management for no reason. I think that a supervisory leadership, strategic leadership and power have all been created. This new position would encompass all three. They would have to provide guidance, support and corrective feedback. They would also have to anticipate and envision the outcome for a stronger future for the business. They would also have to show a form of power by making the hard decisions and decide what is important to bring to the CEO and what he and/or she would be able to control themselves. This would be showing legitimate power and reward power. Thy...

What conclusions can you draw about the supply of and demand for labor at Yahoo? The conclusion about the supply would be for Yahoo to try to continue to do what they were doing when the old internet of Yahoo when business was booming but little twist to getting involved in the new internet. The twist of getting the new internet into their business would be the demand of their supply. Something that can attract the new generation especially since it’s all about the internet and the new technology. I also think that Yahoo should partner with other investors that will help advertise their business. Example would be like Samsung and Amazon Fire use google or have the google app already on their devices. So going into business with another company/investor can also help them as well. 2. What actions might Yahoo take to strengthen its internal recruiting? How might these efforts support Yahoo’s corporate strategy? Some actions that yahoo can take to strengthen its internal recruiting would be to advance in careers and to have the employees share their ideas. It states that Yahoo is seeking pathways for growth so since the employees already have an idea of what the company is expecting or may need; maybe promoting someone into office and having them share their ideas on what the company needs can strengthen the company...

...it 4 as1PAUL LILLY TEREASA KATYNSKI UNIT 4 STUDY 1 Overcoming the perils of Canoe Lake * Describe the general structure of skin Epidermis, and Dermis The epidermis is the relatively thin, tough, outer layer of the skin. Most of the cells in the epidermis are keratinocytes. They originate from cells in the deepest layer of the epidermis called the basal layer. New keratinocytes slowly migrate up toward the surface of the epidermis. Once the keratinocytes reach the skin surface, they are gradually shed and are replaced by newer cells pushed up from below. The outermost portion of the epidermis, known as the stratum corneum, is relatively waterproof and, when undamaged, prevents most bacteria, viruses, and other foreign substances from entering the body. The epidermis also protects the internal organs, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels against trauma. In certain areas of the body that require greater protection the outer keratin layer of the epidermis is much thicker. Scattered throughout the basal layer of the epidermis are cells called melanocytes, which produce the pigment melanin, one of the main contributors to skin color. Melanin's primary function, however, is to filter out ultraviolet radiation from sunlight which damages DNA, resulting in numerous harmful effects, including skin cancer. The epidermis also contains Langerhans cells, which are part of the skin's immune system. Although these cells help detect foreign substances and defend the body......

...Assignment Instructions Unit: 4 Instructions: This week's Assignment consists of reading a scenario about Sandwich Blitz, Inc., and responding to four questions. Dalman and Lei have discussed two possible avenues to grow and expand Sandwich Blitz, Inc. One possible strategy would be to franchise locations. Another strategy would be to secure venture capital to finance an internal expansion by opening more company-owned shops. Dalman feels that he just doesn’t have time to investigate these options because he is spending an increasing amount of his time assisting the location managers. Lei noted that two of the location managers had exhibited a lot of skill in the management of their locations and perhaps a new position could be added to coordinate with the location managers. This would free Dalman to work on these larger issues. After reading the scenario above and your assigned readings in the textbook, paying particular attention to the section on authority, respond to the following questions: (Please number your responses 1 – 4 according to the four questions) 1. How would creating a new position between the CEO and the location managers help the business to grow? 2. Is promoting an existing manager the best option to fill this position?
