For one to be effective and successful they must have personal responsibility. People must be held accountable for what they want to accomplish when achieving personal responsibility. By using time management and practicing self-discipline, they are able to take charge of their actions, which is a necessity in being fruitful in their daily lives. These two skills alone can help anyone lead a productive and successful life in all aspects, including college success. Time management is vital when it comes to personal responsibility. Deadlines must be met in order to show that one is responsible for the management of their time. Two effective ways of accomplishing time management are making a schedule and keeping it and setting goals for tasks that need to be completed. Practicing self-discipline by taking charge of your actions is imperative when it comes to achieving the goals that you have set for yourself. In order to stay focused on the goals that you have set for yourself, specific plans should be made. This can be done by setting both short-term and long-term goals. Short-term goals can be anything from accomplishing something within a few hours to a few months. Long-term goals are normally goals that are set to accomplish from a few months through many years down the road. To stay on track of any term goal that has been set, it is extremely helpful to reward yourself along the way as deadlines have been met. This helps you stay focused in achieving the bigger picture which is being successful in all aspects of your life. Being accountable for all your actions when it comes to personal responsibility is part of selfdiscipline. There are many ways to be accountable for yourself; having organization skills, knowing what resources are available to you, learning different ways to manage stress and not letting procrastination get in your way are just some of the ways…...

Gen 200 Personal Responsibility Essay

...Personal Responsibility GEN 200 June 11, 2012 Professor Youngblood Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility is a life skill that gives you the ability to be accountable for your actions on how to live your daily life. A few traits of personal responsibility include time management, organizational skills, motivation and dedication. Personal Responsibility is an essential characteristic that can make any individual successful in life. We are forced to deal with responsibility on a daily basis. But how we decide to respond to it is a key trait in helping us balance it, no matter what the tribulation is (whether at home, work or school). By accepting responsibility, I will not be coerced into making decision by outside influences. Thus, every decision I make is made with integrity. Every day we are faced with obstacles. Many jobs and educational institutions seek those individuals who have high responsibility characteristics. How does a high sense of personal responsibility influence us? Individuals who lack this trait and cannot adapt accordingly have a higher possibility of being terminated from a job or fail in their education. An example, a student must being held responsible for ensuring that all assignments, whether individually or grouped, are turned in on time in order to receive credit. Without this sense of personal responsibility, a student can possibly be placed on academic probation, dismissed from school, or be forced to pay back their......

...Personal Responsibility GEN/200 August 9, 2012 Personal Responsibility Although many people do not stop to think what personal responsibility really truly means to them, they have never realized that living without it could not only jeopardize their way of life and career goals, but also their relationship with others. I like to believe that I live with personal responsibility every day just to live happily and to help me succeed in my goals. I have set goals in the past and achieved them using my experience as a female veteran and as an adult. It has been proven that if an individual does not have a grip on responsibilities, then they do not have a grip on self-esteem and self-worth (Morling, Rothbaum, & Rusk, 2009). When an individual that does not have personal responsibility, their personal life could really lack fulfillment and pleasure. An individual that is lacking personal responsibility cannot live to their full potential and have everything they have ever wanted on a mental and material level. If a person lacks a main aspect to live the right way, they cannot become satisfied with their life and are not doing anything to take charge of the problems that they have acquired along the way from incompetence. If there is a lack responsibility, then they do not have any confidence (Clouder, 2009). Confidence is a feeling that anyone should have about life as an adult. An individual might find it hard to take charge of their life the way they want to......

...Personal Responsibility Essay Personal responsibility is synonymous with accountability. Accountability is defined by Webster’s as “an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s actions.” To me personal responsibility is the act of taking ownership of your actions and the decisions that you make, whether good or bad facing the consequences for any and all choices that you make. Taking personal responsibility will ensure your success in college, work and your personal life. Personal responsibility ensures that you complete the tasks by any reasonable measure necessary. It is putting 100% into any and all tasks that you complete, obstacles that you may run into and goals that you may set. If you put 100% into anything you will get the most out of it. Personal responsibility and successes and failures go hand and hand. When you put 100% into your college success and take personal responsibilities for all areas that are lacking or that need to be addressed you will succeed. Taking personal responsibilities also goes further in that you take ownership to improve the faults or shortcomings that you may have in order to ensure your success. You should make no excuses and take responsibility for not showing behaviors that will contribute and lead to your success. You will succeed if you do not blame anyone for your actions or for bad results, but take responsibility when something goes wrong. At the same time take personal responsibility...

Personal Responsibility Essay Gen 200 Uop

...Personal Responsibility Gen 200 September 18th, 2013 Evelyn Aiken Abstract It is easy to point the finger and become the victim when things go wrong in your life. When you can take personal responsibility for your actions, not only are you showing signs of growth and maturity, you are also showing that you are reliable and trust worthy in the work place. The world we live in today, it is easy to become the victim. We have radio lawyers who will be happy to help you sue even if the accident is your fault, there are therapists who will dig into your past and blame your upbringing for poor decisions that you have made, and we can even blame McDonald’s for being fat! Part of the problem is that people feel that there always has to be a winner and a loser. Just because you accept responsibility for your decisions or mistakes does not mean you have lost. It means that you are mature enough to understand what you have done and you can use that as a learning tool to move forward and hopefully not make the same mistake in the future. As children we are programmed to “tattle” and point the finger at our peers, but when we don’t grow out of that it can have damaging effects on us as adults. “It is time to take personal responsibility for our choices and actions and let maturity shine.” (Sue, 2007). Not taking personal responsibility also causes laziness, if we can blame others for our short comings then why should we even try to better ourselves? If I grew up in public......

...Personal Responsibility Evelyn Gonzalez Gen/200 April 21, 2014 Dr. Samantha Ward Individuals must learn how to be accountable for the action and decision. People always want to blame other circumstances versus looking at if they had any part to play in the situation. When a person takes responsibility, they become empowered and develop into better individuals. Personal Responsibility is when an individual takes responsibility for their action and / or decisions. When I have taken responsibility and taken ownership of the outcomes whether it is good or bad, has high value. Now this is how I have learned so to me personal responsibility means learning something new. The world is a cold place and not everyone take responsibility, let alone accountability. Usually you encounter individuals trying to blame anything, but I think it is a matter of how a person is brought up. Transitioning this to me personal and academic growth, by setting a short and long goals than seeing the progression I make. I have done this prior to being in school. One short term goal was to pay off minor balances on credit cards with high APR rates, then slowly work on higher balances. Now since I have enrolled in school, yet again. My only short term goal would be to ensure I set time to do all my work required for each class and the long term to finally finish obtaining my bachelor's degree. Personal Responsibility Rough Draft

...Personal responsibility Dan Patterson 6/11/2014 I believe that personal responsibility defines a person on what type of character they are and what kind of priorities they uphold. These characteristics directly tie into a person's mindset on how they approach every challenge in their lives such as achieving a higher education. I strive to use these priorities to drive the foundation of my lifestyle to advance my career and make better choices in life. My personal responsibilities are to my family. I devote most of my time to raising my two children and keeping my family together and happy. Though I do take some time to myself when it is available, I often contemplate on how to make use of my time to its maximum potential. I often dream of following the path for music and entertainment but the logical approach would to excel at a career choice that would best conform to the convenience of helping my family strive in today's economy. There is potential at the entertainment business, however in my case I need the proper funding to pursue such a path therefore I must concentrate my efforts to lay down the path to fuel my dreams. Achieving a higher education is among many individuals top priorities therefore the idea alone becomes a personal responsibility. One does not attain a degree by themselves and often works among other students in a team. As a team member, the individual must be depended on to carry their own weight as part of an assignment. Gen 200 Personal Responsibiity

...Personal Responsibility is Essential for Success John Smith Gen 200 January 25, 2014 Professor Charles Shapiro Lack of personal responsibility will keep some people from achieving goals and dreams. Personal responsibility creates the foundation for success, successful behaviors, and not being dependent on others for success. Some people will blame other individuals or circumstances that may arise instead of their deficient level of personal responsibility for their lack of success. Three main components of personal responsibility that are the core to achieving academic success are time management, stress management, and health. Without following these few key points academics can be more of a challenge than it should be. Taking responsibility for one’s actions is the first step towards building a solid foundation for one’s success. It is likely that one will make some wrong choices, but it is in making wrong decisions that create opportunities to learn valuable lessons. When one admits to being wrong, it creates a vulnerability that is needed to grow in decision-making. Being honest is what will set one free to be able to learn more about one’s self and to become better. Ellis (2011) found “ The principle of telling the truth is applied universally by people who want to turn their lives around” (p. 25). All of these self-evaluation practices will be ineffective without taking action. It is like having a combination to a lock and never using the combination to open......

Personal Responsibility Essay (Gen 201)

...Personal Responsibility Essay Hiba Sohaib GEN/201 July 14, 2014 Efren Ordaz Personal Responsibility Essay Personal Responsibility is when a person takes full responsibly of their own actions. In more detail, “Personal responsibility is the willingness to both accept the importance of standards that society establishes for individual behavior and to make strenuous personal efforts to live by those standards.” (Haskins, July 2009, The Sequence of Personal Responsibility). Even though you can sometimes step back or neglect personal responsibilities, they are important in order for one to succeed as a student because it gives you an idea of how to go further in life by setting realistic life and career goals for yourself as well as giving you the opportunity to make ethical decisions. I believe personal responsibility is important in order to succeed as a student. When a person accepts their personal responsibilities, they cannot blame anyone but themselves for any failures they may face. Any action I take, not only in my academic life but also my personal life, reflects directly on me and the person I am. As a student I try to study hard and learn as much as I can from all my courses, especially the ones that challenge me. I put in extra effort to help myself understand or solve a problem, as this will help me achieve good grades and evolve and grow as a person. If I fail in any way, I set myself goals to do better and achieve better, and when I reach those goals, I......

...Personal Responsibility Charen Santos Gen/200 February 3, 2014 Professor: Kenneth Farrell When given this assignment, I began to think of what personal responsibility truly meant. In the true definition, we see it states that Personal Responsibility is the obligation to manage ourselves, and making a decision that affects the result of life. In the aspect of being personally responsible, I can relate this to having a primary obligation to something that can directly be attributed to the cost of triumph or cause of a failure. Personal responsibility can also be related to a state of being that allows us to hold ourselves accountable and make independent choices. To be responsible is to be obligated to something particular. Currently, in our society we have taken a huge step backwards in accountability. Accountability makes responsibility meaningful and complete the process of delegation. The relationship between personal responsibility and college success, can relate to our commitment in reaching for excellence, the use of our talents, and our personal responsibility in the quality of the work we seek and do. ...Personal Responsibility Essay: Academic Success vs. Creating an Excellent Credit Score Charnelle Riley GEN 200 July 23, 2013 Hector Fulgencio Personal Responsibility Essay: Academic Success vs. Creating an Excellent Credit Score The definition of personal responsibility is when a person is responsible for all that concerns them. Personal responsibility is a subject that not everyone will define the same. Viewpoints are often influenced by culture, peer pressure, and others opinions. Being accountable may range from daily chores, work duties, acquiring a good credit score, taking charge of your education, to being an active member of your community. An article found by Steve Brunkhorst, labeled ‘12 Reflections on Person Responsibility’ reinforces the point made in this essay, “Personal responsibility begins from the inside and moves outward. We must begin by taking responsibility for our thoughts, choices, and reactions. Then we can be responsible for the circumstances we create in our world” (Brunkhorst, 2005, pp 1). People will often show that they are responsible when they have built a high credit score. Building a high credit score means that a person has paid his or her creditors on time. Another factor that will help credit limits rise is to make sure that the limits are not maxed out for each line of credit that may be opened. An article written by Selena Maranjian and Dan Caplinger, Six Smart Moves to Boost Your Credit Score state, “It's a......

College diplomas are not given to teams. These special certificates are presented as an acknowledgement of individual accomplishment and a testament to a student’s hard work, personal dedication and commitment in achieving academic success. However, once someone has been provided with the tools and resources to assist them along the way, ultimately it is up to the individual on how to use those tools correctly.
