First Game I will be talking about my first baseball game at Angel Stadium. I am writing this paper to share with you my experience being at Angel Stadium for the first time. For my girlfriend and I’s anniversary she surprised me with Angel Tickets! They were playing the Los Angeles Dodgers and I was super happy because it was going to be my first Angel game and it was going to be an intense game! The game was around 6pm but we got there really early so that we could tail gate! I have never really tail gated but that day I felt like I did. It was so fun and everyone was having a good time drinking and listening to music playing small games like bag toss or playing catch with a football! Once we started walking to the stadium I couldn’t help but feel a little bit excited because everyone was so pumped up to beat the dodgers. Along the way to our seats that had so many different banners of the players like Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton and anyone else that was on the team or a retired player of the Angels, but right when I walked through that entrance all I could smell was popcorn, hot dogs, pretzels, anything you could imagine they had! It was like a dream come true and my girlfriend and I being how we are get everything they had. We got kettle corn, ice cream, soda’s, a pretzel, and to top it off a nice pink cotton candy. Once we sat down the game was about to start the first thing I said when the angels were up to bat was bet you Mike Trout hits a home run and she said no he’ll probably get struck out, 3 seconds later, SMACK. Mike Trout with a home run over center field the crowd goes absolutely CRAZY. Im talking like the stadium felt like it was shaking crazy. After that the game was rather slow but definitely had a lot of amazing plays in it but the most exciting was when Angels were down 3-2 in the 8th inning with 2 players on base and Josh Hamilton…...

...contexts and can be imprecise. Instead, terms such as 'pathological gambling' or 'substance abuse' are used in the diagnosis of addiction related diseases. Video Game Addiction Researchers have explored the notion of video game addiction since the mid eighties, however the research on the topic is disparate and preliminary. Research is accelerating now. Due to the abovementioned shortfalls of the term 'addiction', the phenomnon has also been referred to in research by other prefixes and suffixes such as excessive, intemperate, overuse, pathological, compulsive and problematic. Researchers turned attention to the topic after reports surfaced of arcade gamers becoming alarmingly preoccupied with gaming and displaying anti-social behaviours to support play, including stealing to fund play and neglecting social responsibilities such as school or work. It is yet to be determined how severe the negative consequences are of video game addiction, compared to other syndromes which have research more research attention. Pathological Gambling Applied to Video Game Addiction It is useful to illustrate how behavioural addiction has been studied by first looking at pathological gambling. Pathological gambling is an example of a behavioural addiction, and is also the model most used to explore excessive video game play. Pathological gambling is well recognised by medical authorities and it has a diagnosis in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (or DSM,......

Development of the First Olympic Games

...Development of the First Olympic Games It was Pierre de Coubertin of France who dreamt up this ambitious project, although others before him had tried to revive these Games during the 19th century, without having Couperin’s success. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Olympic Games, he decided to create the modern Olympic Games. With this purpose, he founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894 in Paris. The new committee set itself the objective of organizing the first Olympic Games of modern times. In 1896, more than 1,500 years after the ancient Games were banned; the first modern Olympic Games featured many references to this legacy of Greek Antiquity. The IOC’s decision to hold them in Athens (Greece) was a reminder that the Olympic Games originated in Greece. The majority of the competitions took place in the ancient stadium (the Panathenaic Stadium), which was restored for the occasion. Most of the sports on the programme of the ancient Olympic Games were echoed in the modern Games. The organizers even went as far as inventing a new race, inspired by a legendary event: the marathon race. In ancient times, the Games were held first on one day and finally over five days. The 245 participants in Athens in 1896 came from 14 different countries and participated in forty three different events. As at the ancient Games, the Olympic Games in Athens in 1896 were an exclusively male preserve. When women made their Olympic debut four years later at the 1900......

...Associate Program Material Cell Energy Worksheet Answer the following questions: Cellular respiration: What is cellular respiration and what are its three stages? 1) Glycolysis: the cytoplasm 2) Krebs Cycle/The Citric Acid Cycle: mitochondria 3) Electron Transport Chain: the mitochondria What is the role of glycolysis? Include the reactants and the products. Where does it occur? Glycolysis splits the glucose molecule into two pyruvic acid molecules. The Reactants going into the process are Glucose, NAD+ (and ATP to start the reaction). The products are 2 pyruvic acid molecules NADH and a net gain of 2 ATP (2 used 4 produced). This reaction occurs in the cytoplasm and is also considered the first step in both aerobic and anaerobic respiration. What is the role of the citric acid cycle? Include the reactants and the products. Where does it occur? Each of the pyruvic acid molecules will be processed in two separate citric acid cycles. Here the three carbon pyruvic acid molecule is processed to produce ATP and Carbon Dioxide molecules. This Cycle uses ATP to specifically break down the pyruvate into Acetyl Co-A. Once this goes through the cycle, limited ATP as well as more NADH are produced. This happens in the mitochondria when sufficient oxygen is present to form the Carbon Dioxide. What is the role of the electron transport system? Include the reactants and the products. Where does it occur? The role of the......

The Game

...playing a game in the square when suddenly the sky turns dark. A boy runs through the square yelling, “The world is ending! The wise men say the world will end in less than one hour!” The first man jumps to his feet and says, “I must go to the temple and pray!” The second man jumps up and says, “I must go home and be with my family!” The third man looks at them both and says, “As for myself, I shall finish the game.” I can’t count the number of times I have looked back on my life with regret for one reason or another. I have made promises I never intended to keep. I have hurt those I cared about the most. I have sinned against my Lord with something I have done, or not done. I have not lived as I should at all times. I would do or say something stupid or wrong, and I would tell myself, “I’ll fix it later.” But James warned us not to fall prey to that attitude. We are told in James 4:13,14 that we should not say we will do this or that tomorrow, for we don’t even know if tomorrow will come. We are not promised our next heartbeat, so why do we put off until tomorrow what needs to be done today? Why do we put off until later something that needs to be done now? What would you do right now if you were told the world would end in less than an hour? Would you run to the temple to get things right with God? Would you run home to make amends with your spouse or your children? Or would you be able to say, “I am living as I should. I shall finish the game.”...

...Game Time What is a commercial? A commercial is a paid advertisement on television or radio, or something related to doing business or for business purpose. I think without commercials a lot of things would not be sold in this world. When would be the best time to let everyone know what businesses are selling, the Super Bowl? In most commercials I think they use sex to sell or catch our attention to see what they are selling. As I watched the Super Bowl there was a lot of commercials and most of them if not all was advertising to sell something. One commercial that caught my attention was a coca-cola commercial. I think it was selling a lot and also showing that this product has been around for a long time. In this commercial to me it showed that the world has diversity by showing that different cultures also love to drink this product. Seeing that would make me want to buy their product because to me it shows that it’s not just one culture that buys this product and also it wants everyone to be satisfied with their product. This commercial also sold me by showing a family spending time together and really it looks like they’re enjoying the time their spending together drinking a soda that everyone in the family enjoys. It also shows that this product is good to have during a gathering because it seems so refreshing. Another thing this commercial used to sell this product was bright colors to catch the eye. It was showing that family should spend more time together. A......

Go east from Junon and follow the river until you reach a place where you can cross it. Go north and you’ll see a cave. Go inside and check how many times you’ve fought. If the number of times you’ve fought has the last two digits the same (like 388 or 511) then the guy there will give you an item. If you go in with say, 244 and you get a Bolt Ring, go outside, fight exactly 11 times and go back in. He should give you Mithril. If he gives you Mithril first time, lucky you. Oh and sometimes he just says how many times you’ve escaped or whatever, so go outside, battle once and go back in. After getting the Mithril, go through the game and get the Tiny Bronco. Once you have that, go to the right of Gold Saucer and you’ll see a hut. Go in the hut and give the guy there the Mithril. Then go to the second floor and open the safe-like thing there to get Great Gospel. This makes all party members invincible for the battle and restores all their Hit Points and Magic Points. The First Modern Day Olympic Games

...possible; just as it was in Ancient Greece with the polis or city-states. Olympic Games were held throughout Ancient Greece, but the most famous are the games that were held in Olympia in honor of Zeus every four years from August 6th to September 19th. The first record of these games is of one Coroebus of Elis, a cook, winning a sprint race in 776 BC. Most historians believe the games to have been going on for approximately 500 years before this. In the year Coroebus was made a part of history, there was apparently only one simple event, a race called the stade. The track was said to be one stade long or roughly 210 yards. In subsequent games, additional events were to be added, most likely to increase the challenge to these amazing athletes. In 724 BC, the diaulos, a two stade race, was added, followed by a long distance race, about 2 1/4 miles and called the dolichos, at the next games four years later. Wrestling and the famous Pentathlon were introduced in 708 BC. The Pentathlon consisted of five events; the long jump, javelin throw, discus throw, foot race, and wrestling. The Pentathlons, especially the successful ones, were often treated and even worshipped like gods. Because of their exquisite physiques, they were used as the models for statues of the Greek Gods. The superior athletic ability of these athletes affects the games even today. The twisting and throwing method of the discus throw, which......

...For hundreds of years game animals have been hunted throughout the world. Deer, elk, rabbit, squirrel, ducks, geese and wild turkeys are hunted in the United States. Unregulated hunting has seriously threatened some species of wildlife. Here are a few examples. Herds of buffalo that once numbered in the millions were nearly wiped out by hunters in the 19th century. They were killed for enjoyment and profit. By 1895 only 400 remained in the United States. In the west pronghorn and deer populations were nearly wiped out to feed the growing population. Some game birds such as the passenger pigeon were hunted to extinction. After all of these animal populations were decimated some people began to take notice. The general public caused some states to pass laws protecting some animals. The government also started to set aside land for national parks and wildlife refuges. In 1872 Ulysses S. Grant signed a bill that created Yellowstone National Park. This was the first ever national park. Several other national parks were created shortly after. Other laws were passed to set dates for hunting seasons and set bag limits. These laws also outlawed inhumane hunting methods. Once protected by laws and regulations game animals began to flourish. The spreading of human settlements also helped animals flourish. The settlers killed off predatory animals like wolves and grizzly bears. The animals that spread the most were elk and deer. These animals spread so rapidly that the area they were...

First Things First

...employee/ customer satisfaction, and often profitability. This can only be achieved through concise planning, high efficiency, and a bit of luck. We must begin with a focus; all organizations operate with a goal in mind. It is human nature in that we must have some sort of shiny gold star or an orchestra of applause and accolades to motivate us in order to thrive in our endeavors. How we come to achieve our goals is based on motivations and effectiveness. Stephen Covey’s book, First Things First looks at time management strategies and how one can best achieve effectiveness and therefore succeed in obtaining their goals Covey’s approach to effectiveness works with two very important dynamics in mind illustrated by the clock and the compass. There has to be reasonable amount of resources available as we contend with our aspirations or else one will face stress and frustrations hindering one in their pursuits therefore some self analysis and planning is required. “Our struggle to put first things first can be characterized by the contrast between two powerful tools that direct us: the clock and the compass. The clock represents our commitments, appointments, schedules, goals, activities what we do with, and how we manage our time. The compass represents our vision, values, principals, mission, conscious, direction—what we feel is important and how we lead our lives.” (Covey 20) As Covey illustrates with the clock, time is a very important part of our lives. We live by......

... Issue  1,  pp.122-‐128,  2013 THE IMPACT OF VIDEO GAMES ON STUDENT GPA, STUDY HABITS, AND TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS: WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? Jordan Weaver, Walsh University, jordanweaver@walsh.edu Philip Kim, Walsh University, pkim@walsh.edu Richard L. Metzer, Robert Morris University, rlmst26@mail.rmu.edu Julie M. Szendrey, Walsh University, jszendrey@walsh.edu ABSTRACT Playing video games has become one of the largest leisure activities in the world. This study examines the effects video games have on college students, their grade point averages, time management, and study habits. Existing literature has linked video game usage as being negatively correlated with each of these three variables. This research, using a sample of the undergraduate student population at a private university in northeast Ohio, found a statistically significant correlation between video game usage and grade point average. Statistically significant relationships were not found between video game usage and the variables of time management skills or study habits. It is important that college students are aware of these possible negative effects of video game usage on their academic performance. This research can serve as a foundation for future research on the impact of video game playing and student performance. Keywords: Videogames, GPA, Study Habits, Time Management Skills, Student Performance INTRODUCTION The video game industry has flourished to become the world’s......

...Video Games First off, you would imagine how thrilled our team was to have to write a paper during the holidays, with a deadline just two days after the winter break, so we came up with a clever way to bypass all the research work needed and just start writing about things we already knew and also loved doing, in order to grasp a more subjective approach on the chosen topic. People often say that if you don’t truly believe in the things you are working on and don’t have fun whilst doing them, you won’t be successful in any of your endeavors. This means you have to work with passion, because the first person you are ultimately going to sell the idea of the finished product is yourself, and if you can’t fully embrace the concept, it’s going to be even harder to pitch it to someone else. That being said, we quickly searched for a topic that each member of our team could relate to, and also provide valuable insight upon his experience and personal preferences on the subject at hand. In the end we settled on the topic of video games, due to the wide variety available these days. Figure 1. Pacman machine Figure 1. Pacman machine The first ever commercially produced video games were arcade games back in the early ‘70s in the United States, and I think we all remember in movies those huge machines that took up quite a lot of space in pubs, where people could play games such as Pacman, Space Invaders or Donkey Kong. They were very successful and in fact,......

Video games are a large and growing market. However, within it, there are only selected portions that contain venture capital investment opportunities. Our analysis highlights these sectors, which are interesting for reasons including significant technological change, high growth rates, new product development and lack of a clear market leader. The opportunity lies in non-core products and services. We believe that the core hardware and game software markets are fairly mature and require intensive capital investment and strong technology knowledge for success. The best markets for investment are those that provide valuable new products and services to game developers, publishers and gamers themselves. These are the areas that will build out the industry as it undergoes significant growth. • A Quick Snapshot of Our Identified Areas of Interest • Online Games and Platforms. Few online games have historically been venture funded and most are subject to the same “hit or miss” market adoption as console games, but as this segment grows, an......

First Person Shooter Games in Real Life

...First person Shooter Games First Person Shooter Games in Real Life Jason Campbell English 121 Deborah Zeringue 6/4/12 First Person Shooter Games in Real Life Shooter games have been around since man made the first projectile weapons, and his children tried to emulate the hunt. From running around with sticks, pretending to shoot the other kids, to the more evolved forms we have today. Today there are a variety of these types of games, though mainly these games are found on entertainment consoles. To experience these types of games for yourself in real life, without the controller, there are two to choose from, Airsoft or Paintball, and while similar, have many key differences, such as equipment used, projectiles, and game formats. Airsoft and paintball both have very similar game formats, and type of equipment used. Paintball utilizes a weapon called a “marker” to propel a paint filled gelatin shell ball using compressed air or CO2, while an airsoft weapon, called a “replica”, uses battery power to fire a 6mm plastic BB from a very realistic looking weapon. Projectiles fired from the paintball marker are used to hit the other players and mark them with paint, and when they are hit, they are out of that current game by being called “dead”. The same goes with airsoft as well, but as there is no paint, it relies on the “honor system” or to call out when you have been hit. The team that still has players......
