Executive Summary
Firstly, the report analysed participation and group work in two parts. It has expressed that how to be participation in a group and theorises or experiences of group works. Following that, it has discussed evaluation of group study and individual development. These reports recommend that in a group work, people should focus on formal language use, cooperation, communication, information and time and task management.

Terms of Reference In this report, it has analysed our group work in this module, also evaluate case of animal testing and personal development of language use. Besides, it gave some recommendations for group work and self-development. It is in order to continue development of our skills and learn the theories or task management with animal testing case.
Analysis
Participation
Participation is important if you work together with other people. Without it, a single idea cannot be called “group work”. For example, when I first work in a group, I am wondering how to join in a group and how to share my idea and experiences to my teammates. Also, utilize some information and translate in English is difficult for me. Most of time I had kept quiet, but fortunately, our teammates always encouraged me and gave me more chances to share my idea. Besides, they give me some suggestions for the project and if I faced problems with English they will corrected me. Based on the help from teammate and my pre-learning of subjects, I have been enjoyed to participate in the group work. In my points of view that work together is a value way for people to exchange idea and advance speaking, communication, and analysis themselves. Moreover, for personal, participate a group well are also need this elements, such as speaking, timing, enthusiasm, cooperation, thinking and information preparation.
Group work
Group work, in another word is team work. It is a way to dividing work and increasing productivity. Also, it always utilized different knowledge, experience, talent, discussion by people. Therefore, in colleges and school prefer to use it to improve student group-based ability in the work places.( Infed, 2014)
Through the whole years study, group works occupy an important part. Based on participation of it, for me and my teammate have learnt a lot, including time and task management, cooperation, discussion and summary. For teamwork, especially task management and cooperation are important. A good task management is a first fundamental step for a group which can divide work well and make our arrangement clearly. Besides, in the following work of group is do a meeting together and discuss our topic or share people idea. The cooperation of a group is the main thing which we need to focus on. For example, if a group does not agree with a programmer after debate, the work cannot be continued. Because of teammates which have different background and thinking will put forward different ideas. In a result, in our responsibility, for member of a group, people should interrelate with teammate in a positive way.
Evaluation of Content
Animal texting case Evaluation is a logical method which evaluate the worth of object. In addition, a satisfied evaluation cannot without management ability, sensitivity to multiple stakeholders, analysis talent and other skills. It is aims to aids in decision-making. (Social research methods, 2006) Take animal testing case as an example, our group was character as an animal protector organization. The negative side are both me and one of my teammates had less about animal protection, especially animal texting because the social environment are not allowed for demonstration in China. However, there are lots of animal protection groups in Europe. We ask some classmates to share their knowledge about animal protect. After that, we combine the information of search, the experiences from other people and our teacher’s advices. We finally do some change for our animal testing statement and finish as well as we can.
My language use & development At the beginning of my language in a group work, it had a terrible structure. Although my teammate can understand me, it is hard work for them to be clearly about my views completely. Besides, my language use always general and too simple during the group work, however, the statement is necessary to use formal language. In order to prefer our statement, after the first writing of the statement we check the sentences again and again and change the language use in a formal way. Depend on it, in speaking, I am prefer to share and talk to them, especially with foreigner. After a period of time, I found it that my speaking is better than before and I am built confident for my language. Furthermore, I can understand people clearly in our group which means I can put forward my suggestion for their work. Additionally, I have already had some knowledge about statement between formal languages. For example, in our group’s statement, I wrote a sentence” FAT will write a letter to government and prefer the law of cruel treat of animal.” Finally, we change it became a formal sentences likes “FAT will write letters to the members of the legislature about the issue of vivisection”. So, group work which has benefit for my study a lot.
Recommendations
First of all, it is useful that use a formal language and common vocabulary and phrases use in a common file. Besides, list some strange vocabulary and language structure in personal notebooks. Secondly, arrange a timetable of group’s meeting and following the arrangement. It is a great method that benefit for your time management which is important for everything. Thirdly, conclusion your work every day and evaluate your work then you can learn from it and develop yourself quickly. Finally, communicate or interaction with teammates. Do not afraid mistakes, a problem and question is a better way for your successful in a group. Search skill has play an fundamental role in the work, therefore, practice more, improve more.
Conclusions
In a conclusion, group work is not just for an individual study, but also cooperation with other people. It is not a performance for yourself, but a group show. In my opinion, group work is a collectivism of Hofstede analysis which has more power than individual and I toward to work together. Also, in a group, teammate can distribute the work with their strength. Instead, there are also have the disadvantage, group work with non-cooperation and argue will damage work quantity and efficiency. In additions, it is positive for me that I improve myself in different aspect. Such as language use, communication, cooperation, time arrangement, task management and so on. I am enjoy work with each other, it is more useful for our study. We need communication, need speak more and desire knowledge. Eventually, in the future study or work, teamwork will accompany us everywhere and every time. Therefore, focus on teamwork now is an excellent choice for people.

...move with them when they relocated again to find work. As a child, his circle of support was often the small group of blacks living in his community. As a young African-America adult, he found a kinship in Harlem, New York’s New Negro Movement (Harlem Renaissance). While the poem “Theme for English B” is not autobiographical, the insecurity Hughes felt as a young man is echoed in the struggle of the poem’s unnamed protagonist to find himself, his truth, while enduring the racism and struggle for social equality that all blacks were struggling with in America at that time. Theme for English B is a poem about a young African-American student attending a predominantly white college. He was given a writing assignment to write the truth. The poem begins with the student recalling the assignment given – “The instructor said, /Go home and write/a page tonight. /And let that page come out of you--/Then, it will be true.” (1-5).The immediate struggle of identifying truth begins. There are some things the student knows to be true. He is “twenty-two, colored” (7). He has journeyed to New York to attend “college on the hill above Harlem” (9). He is “the only colored student” in his English class (10). He likes to “eat, sleep, drink, and be in love” (21). He likes to “work, read, learn, and understand life” (22). He is secure in the knowledge of his everyday likes and dislikes; however, his insecurity is exposed as he struggles to find the truth that the instructor......

Advanced English

...Advanced English ‘Homecoming’ was written in 1968. This was at the height of the Vietnam War when the tide was turning and the anti-war movement was gaining momentum. In his poem, Dawe depicts the harsh realities of war. One of the main ideas explored in the poem is the senseless waste of human life during the war. Dawe uses many techniques to convey his message. “All day, day after day”, the repetition emphasises the futility and senselessness and creates an image of a continuous flow of bodies; it implies that the war is never ending. This is not unique to the Vietnam War, and many still face these realities in war, this means the audience connects to and feels empathy for the situation, as it still exists today. Loss of hope is another prominent idea in the poem; the imagery in “telegrams tremble like leaves from a wintering tree” forces the reader to imagine the leaves, fragile and dying. Personification likens these leaves to the telegrams being opened. This idea is further shown in the last line “they’re bringing them home, now, too late, too early”, the paradox in the line expresses almost bitterness, a loss of hope and futility. It evokes strong emotions from the reader. The effects of war on the environment and communities can be seen in “the steaming chow mein”, in which Dawe uses a common Vietnamese food to express the destruction of the landscape. They all felt for the soldiers and respected their efforts, even the dogs who “raised muzzles in mute......

Office Depot Advanced Small Business Model

...Governmental Contracts Office Depot currently offers contracts with state and local and federal governmental agencies. Contracts with state and local agencies offer savings for schools and communities on paper pricing, large quantities of office furniture, copy and print savings and a variety of cost saving tools. Contracts with federal agencies help to cut costs and maximize productivity by offering selections on office and computer supplies, AbilityOne items, and furniture and technology/business machines. At this time there are strict guidelines that the Federal government must follow when ordering these items due to budgets and unique requirements set by the FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation.) We would like to set up our webpage with a compliance database that would allow ordering for these agencies to be more efficient. The database would be able to specify whether or not a product falls within the FAR guidelines. The database would also display the negotiated discount prices on both brand name labels and off brand labels for comparison shopping options. To go along with this, the newly enhanced governmental website would include additional resources for technical support and customer service. Currently, Office Depot only allows for technical support for companies with a 0-400 employees and PC tune up for mico-businesses and consumers. Agencies that have a contract with Office Depot would not be limited to these rules. International Expansion With the......

Text a and Text B English

...address their audiences very differently in the beginning. Sue, in text A doesn’t seem to want to ask questions outright, so begins with a phatic utterance “how yer doin Kat” to establish a conversation before launching in. This demonstrates her feelings of intimacy, probably because she is familiar with the audience, as seen by this fact that she wants to keep the informality. It also exemplifies the context as this is spontaneous speech and she is not certain which way the conversation will go until it happens. In contrast, text B launches in immediately with the point and purpose with “Now I am fortunate” which demonstrates that he has attitude that precision and direct approaches are necessary, and an attitude he wanted to convey in order to achieve his implied purpose of gaining support. This is also done due to the context as people have shown up to hear this speech and the purpose is very clear and he knows what the audience want to hear. In Text B, the personal pronoun “we” is used to show the feelings are conveyed by the whole audience, which adds a personal touch and creates a sense of belonging and intimacy with a large audience, utilising the fact that we all have a human desire to belong. In Text A, Kat uses the personal pronoun “you” when “one” would be more correct, conveying the information in an informal way. This is typical of spontaneous speech as she has less time to think about what she is saying and she is speaking to a close and familiar friend which......

Self Reflection on Business English

...Self Reflection on Business English This semester I took classes from my dear teacher Linda Wu, and enjoyed good times watching the exciting and entertaining reality show The Apprentice. As we all known, The Apprentice is an American reality show hosted by real estate magnate, businessman and television personality Donald Trump. The show often starts with 16 to 18 business people competing in an elimination competition. The final prize is a one-year, $250,000 starting contract to run one of Trump's companies. As a symbol of the show, each episode typically ends with Trump eliminating one of the contestants with the words, "You're fired". Different from the Celebrity Apprentice, The Apprentice 10 shows how the ordinary business men or women, who have been influenced by economic crisis, competed with each other in every challenging project. The biggest change is to the rewards—unlike the often lavish rewards that had been granted in prior seasons to the winning teams, in this season, the winning Project Managers are rewarded with one-on-one meetings with some of America's best-known business leaders and CEOs. However since the season received the lowest audience figures of any Apprentice season, Mr. Trump confirmed that this format would be permanently discontinued after this season, and that all future seasons of the show would be in the Celebrity Apprentice format. In my opinion, this season’s conflicts between all the participants were much fiercer than the past seasons...

In your response, make detailed reference to ‘The Second Coming’ and at least ONE other poem set for study. Note to students: This question requires you to write about ‘The Second Coming’. Sample response: Poetry Prescribed text: WB Yeats: Poems Selected by Seamus Heaney Introduction outlines the common aspects of both poems while responding to the question | Yeats had a distinctive world view that is evident in much of his poetry and explored through recurring imagery and motifs, as well as through language and ideas specific to individual poems. His views about civilization and change are expressed in ‘Leda and the Swan’ and ‘The Second Coming’ which, taken together, explore the beginning and the end of Western history in Yeats’ terms. Both poems look at the supernatural influence on human affairs, at a tipping point between stability and change. They consider human helplessness in the face of blind destiny, but also examine human acquiescence in the march of history. While they share features of language and structure, they also...

Theme for English B

...Theme for English B The path to wisdom is a winding road that often digresses from a sole reliability on schooling, which allows for individuals to be shaped by a vast array of influences, such as social interactions and cultural environments. In his “Theme for English B,” poet Langston Hughes speaks on the ethnical and cultural differences that appear to divide us, while on the contrary these discrepancies are nominal and all of mankind is interconnected through an inseparable bond. While a racial disparity in the classroom creates a sense of remoteness for Hughes initially, he later finds that as humans there is an inalienable connection between all humans. Although individuals may be disjointed due to skin tone or age, these hindrances should not prevent an exchange of knowledge and an incorporation of others into oneself. Hughes utilizes first person in order to immerse the reader into a personal experience where it is effortless for the reader to become absorbed into the environment that the speaker is portraying. Due to Hughes’ ethnicity he is able to provide a unique point of view, which provides a glimpse into the perspective of a young African-American man as he transitions into university in Harlem. The foundational qualities of the speaker that will influence his angle are established through aspects such as “I am the only colored student in my class” and “I’m what I feel and see and hear, Harlem, I hear you”. The most resounding and physical of the previous......

What is the graph about? What information does it present? When was it published? By whom is it published? Where is it situated? What time period does it cover? What does it indicate/measure? (what units of measure etc) . 2. Description (Observation): Describe the graph in relative detail (see example below), using business English vocabulary and terminology. What do we mean by relative detail? As a rule thumb, if you were to read your description to someone on the phone they would be able to visualize your graph quite clearly! Tip: Be sure to quantify! When describing data expressed in graphs, your reference points are the actual changes in the graph behaviour or the ‘trends’. In other words, your focus is the duration and quantity of a particular movement in the graph line, until that movement changes, either increasing or decreasing in degree. Hence, each movement or trend is best described by means of concise sentences, commencing with the ‘WHEN’ first followed by the “HOW MUCH’ and the ‘FOR HOW LONG’. This, however, is where the graph jargon comes into it for without the appropriate descriptive terminology we cannot describe graph behaviour, or indeed any trends, in a clear professional manner.
