In most courses, you must keep up with the scheduled course work. Courses are instructor led and in most instances, follow the same semester schedule as traditional courses. All specific course information such as how to reach the instructor, what work is expected, and deadlines to turn in assignments and take tests will be found within your course site. four popular methods of eLearning and explain how each method is unique.
Blended Learning
Generally when people use the term blended learning, they are referring to a combination of eLearning and face to face instruction. Blended learning can refer to a single course or an entire educational program. This means that one course can be made up of both face to face instruction in conjunction with some type of online course content. Or, an education or training program might be labeled as blended learning if the courses within that program are comprised of both brick and mortar classroom instruction and virtual courses. An organization may use a blended learning model to deliver instruction to increase flexibility, access, efficiency, and cost savings.
Rapid Learning
The term rapid learning can be a little tricky because it is often heard to describe both a method of creating eLearning courses and a speed at which people are instructed in an eLearning environment. When used in reference to course creation, rapid learning basically means that the course was created using a quick method such as a narrated slide show or Adobe flash file and made available for course participants online. If the term rapid learning is being used to describe the learning pace of a course or program, you can usually assume that the course or program itself is brief in duration and the lessons themselves are very short and to the point. Rapid learning, in both senses, is best suited for course material or subject matter that is in a fairly constant state of evolution thereby requiring the course and material to be frequently updated.
Mobile Learning
Many people mistakenly think that the terms eLearning and mobile learning (also referred to as mLearning) are interchangeable. The term eLearning is most often used when the coursework is delivered via a computer connected to the Internet. Mobile learning describes coursework that is accessed using a device that is more portable than even a laptop, such as a smartphone, tablet, or mp3 player. Course content can be sent to a mobile device in the form of text files, image files, audio files, or even by the mobile device’s communication tools such as phone calls, video calls, or email.
Social Learning
Social learning is considered to be an informal eLearning method, but with the popularity of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and blogging, it definitely warrants exploration. Social learning is essentially learning that takes place by interacting with other people on some type of social media network. This includes anything from following the Twitter feed or blog of someone considered to be a subject matter expert in a field you are interested in to clicking on a link in your Facebook newsfeed to an informative article. While social learning may not currently be a formalized way of delivering course content, experts say we should not discount social learning for the futu

...I’m E-student If I were living in few hundred or few thousand years ago, to learn something I might have to find someone who mastered it, and then I might need to follow that person in rest of my life to obtain that single skill. But in this century everything is different. Everyone can learn almost everything in front of their computer. In my case, I got my first internet access when I was 9th grade in 2008. I had a computer before but never had internet. I signed up my first e-mail address and forum accounts. Soon I realized that the internet was more than just a new piece of software, but a new way to learn and communicate. Back then I was very curious, easily interested person so I tried to read as much as possible from Wikipedia, but mn.wikipedia was very brief and almost had nothing. So I tried to read from en.wikipedia which was so detailed. In high school years most of my assignments was direct translation from there. Of course back then I stuck with online dictionary in just about every single sentence. But I improved soon enough. And forums. First I found asuultsambar.net (now known as asuultserver.com). There were so wide varieties of topics. That’s the place which leads me from beginner to intermediate in most of things. I usually read topics in science, computer, and literature. From there I found and registered to Englishclub.com. That was very useful site for improving my English. First time ever I chatted with someone who has native English. That was......

First and foremost, balancing my online learning endeavor together with maintaining my regular life commitments involving family matters, my job and social interactions is expected to be challenging. In order to overcome these challenges, I intend to create appropriate enabling environment for my online learning experience without too much disruptions affecting my way of life. To achieve my objectives, I may have to compromise on some of my social interactions, weekend retreats and hobbies. Establishing appropriate time and place for reading, comprehensions and conducting my regular assignments to stay on truck are critical success factors that enrich my new online learning experience. While I possess extensive experience using technology (computers and the Internet), acquiring reliable and sustainable communication bandwidth for Internet access is essential. ...There are several advantages and disadvantages with regards to motivation in e-learning. For many students, e-learning is the most convenient way to pursue a degree in higher education. A lot of these students are attracted to a flexible, self-paced method of education to attain their degree. It is important to note that many of these students could be working their way through college, supporting themselves or battling with serious illness.[92] To these students, it would be extremely difficult to find time to fit college in their schedule. Thus, these students are more likely and more motivated to enroll in an e-learning class. Moreover, in asynchronous e-learning classes, students are free to log on and complete work any time they wish. They can work on and complete their assignments at the times when they think most cogently, whether it be early in the morning or late at night.[93] However, many teachers have a harder time keeping their students engaged in an e-learning class. A disengaged student is usually an unmotivated student, and an engaged student is a motivated student.[94] One reason why students are more likely to be disengaged is that the lack of face-to-face contact makes it difficult for teachers to read their students' nonverbal cues,[93] including confusion, boredom or frustration. These cues are helpful to a teacher in deciding whether to speed up, introduce new material, slow down or explain a concept in a different way. If a student is confused, bored......

E-Learning vs Traditional Learning

...ELearning VS Traditional Learning Rashonda Ocain COM 170 June 23, 2014 Professor Olson E-learning VS Traditional Learning Many Americans consider continuing their education every day, but do not know whether online or traditional education is the best fit. As technology progresses significantly, it has bearings on every area of life, even on the way of learning. Today’s way of living now gives students the option to not only attend school/class in a traditional classroom, but to also attend virtually. Therefore, if a student works full time and wants to attend school – he now has the option to attend online. Despite sharing some apparent similarities, the differences between traditional and online learning environments are extraordinary. Traditional and E-learning are suitable learning environments that have different executions in (a) scheduling and participation, (b) student/teacher relationships, and (c) assignments and test. The first distinctions between traditional learning and e-learning are scheduling and participation. Traditional classroom settings require a fixed environment, which reduces the amount of students that can learn at the same time. However, an online class allows thousands/millions of students to take the same course at one time. Moreover, traditional classes are not flexible. Traditional classrooms require that students and teachers show up for classes at a certain time, while online classrooms can be assessed anytime during the day.......

...Definition of e-Learning Is there only one way to define e-learning? Electronic learning or e-learning (sometime written as e-learning) has various definitions. E-learning is basically boils down to learning that is facilitated and supported via information and communications technology (ICT). The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) defines e-learning as a broad set of applications and processes which include web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classrooms, and digital. Much of this is delivered via the Internet, intranets, audio- and videotape, satellite broadcast, interactive TV, and CD-ROM. The definition of e-learning varies depending on the organization and how it is used but basically it is involves electronic means of communication, education, and training. Many terms have been used to define e-learning in the past. For example web-based training, computer-based training or web-based learning, and online learning are a few synonymous terms that have over the last few years been labeled as e-learning. Each of this implies a “just-in-time” instructional and learning approach. Regardless of the definition you chose to use, designers, developers, and implementers make or break the instructional courses and tools. E-learning is simply a medium for delivering learning and like any other medium, it has its advantages and disadvantages. E-learning covers a wide array of activities from supported learning, to blended or hybrid learning......

...What is eLearning? The teaching and learning methodology is a four-step progressive / recursive design adapted from experiential education theory. Using this methodology, material covered during this training will be systematically presented (Step A), practiced (Step B), assessed (Step C) and reviewed (Step D). Starting at the top of the circle to the right, Step A represents the introduction to new materials such as theory and skills. Progressing to Step B, participants will practice the application of the newly presented materials. Once applied, participants will assess their work in Step C, which will lead to a reflection or review of lessons learned in Step D that will inform and influence the next progressive iteration the learning cycle, beginning with Step A. A full progression of this methodology will be attempted each day of the training event. For example, the first day of this training will focus on the fundamentals of eLearning, where materials will be presented during the initial part of the day (Step A) and learning activities centered on the application of these materials will be conducted during the latter part (Step B). Concluding the day, participants will be asked to assess their understanding of the fundamentals of eLearning (Step C) and to identify questions and unresolved related issues for the next day’s session (Step D). ...TEACHING WITH E-LEARNING: A CASE STUDY Nicholaus Thomas Andrade Hall Department of Information Studies, University of Sheffield Western Bank,, Sheffield, S10 2TN, United Kingdom José Miguel Baptista Nunes Department of Information Studies, University of Sheffield Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TN, United Kingdom ABSTRACT The objectivist nature of lecture -based teaching is often perceived to be unsuited to encourage deep learnin g and the acquisition of contextualised transferable skills. On the other hand, collaborative and active e -learning is seen to be an approach capable of fostering these highly desirable outcomes in the learning process. However, given the pragmatic needs and constraints of teaching and learning in Higher Education (HE), lectures are still the prevalent mode of imparting knowledge to students.
