Topic 4 DQ 1 “Asian-American victims of domestic violence rarely seek help from police or health care providers. While cultural barriers can discourage victims from seeking help, there also is a lack of culturally sensitive services available to them and also in many Asian cultures, seeking help can be seen as shameful to the victim and the victim’s family” (Asians reluctant to seek help for domestic violence). Given Ms. Li’s ethnicity, she’ll most likely appear reserved, avoid eye contact, stoic, and will not ask many questions. She will not speak unless she’s being spoken to, her willingness to answer and ask questions may differ if she is second or third generation in America. I would be mindful not to ask any leading questions that'll make her suspicious of my intentions, use open ended questions, reassure her privacy, and use motivational interviewing to obtain vital information. I would avoid complicated terminology and use language according to her education level. I would also be very careful of any signs and symptoms of possible suicide ideation and remind her that whatever happened is not her fault and she has nothing to fear or be ashamed of. There might also be a tendency to give yes or no replies. The Abuse Assessment Screen (AAS) “is a multiple-item questionnaire that asks about past and current emotional, sexual, and physical abuse, both prior to and during pregnancy (see copy attached below). The questions assess the severity and frequency of injury and abuse. The form is included in all medical charts prepared for new prenatal care patients at their first visit to a clinic or emergency room” (National Institute of Justice, 2014).
If abuse is discovered, the nurse must ensure patient safety (remove any items that may cause harm, complete diagnostic tests PRN, and provide a safe milieu), document well, report to authorities, refer…...

...QUESTION: HOW DESCRIBE HOW THE GLOBAL MARKETING STRATEGY IS DIFFERENT WHEN COMPARED TO THAT OF SINGLE COUNTRY MARKETING First of all i would like to start explaing what Global marketing is and what single – country marketing is. Global Marketing on a worldwide scale reconciling or taking commercial advantage of global operational differences, similarities and opportunities in order to meet global objectives. Global marketing is basically when a company looks at the entire world as one market. There are no differences between a local market and the market 10,000 miles away. Companies usually won't bring in cultural foods or products, just because they are a general store. Companies sell the same exact products all over the world and the exact same things in every single store. To become a global company a company has to use the "Four P's of marketing." They are price, promotion, product, and placement. A company doesn't just become a global company overnight but goes through several steps to become global. They have to have a global team. They have to have a global marketing plan. It takes time for a company to evolve from a local company to one that sells products all over the world. On the other hand; single – country marketing involves the company manipulating a series of controllable variables such as price, advertising, distribution and the product, in a largely uncontrollable external environment that is made up of different economic structures, competitors,......

...and services then your business is doomed to fail. Resourcefulness in a valuable skill for anyone, but I feel like it requires logic which would falls under left brain skills. Overall I would think a company would put more emphasis on a balanced person. Q2: When trying to build a company to last (in the long run), what are the THREE key factors that will most dramatically impact long-term firm performance? Explain how and why. Written down processes- When creating a company for the long run you need to make sure that everything has a written down process or policy. Uniformity for simple task can drive down labor cost because the more unskilled labor you can use the less you have to pay those replaceable people. There should be no question on what your company’s policies are, by having them written down it will clearly layout many grey areas to make them black and white. Building relationships- Building relationships with consumers and suppliers are key when building long-term business. It always cost a company more to gain a new customer than to retain an existing one. The same thing goes for business to business relationships, shopping for a new supplier cost time, time is the most valuable thing on the planet. You have to pay someone to do the shopping instead of paying them to actually produce. Good relationships can also lead to discounts or higher contribution margins if the relationship is strong enough. Proper planning- without a plan, you are running......

...Please answer the following questions based on the video: 1. To what extent is our personality dictated by our genetic makeup?  Many of the personality traits that we have are either genetic or learned. For example, if a mother was loud and liked to express her opinion, as her daughter gets older, she has the same trait. This was both learned and genetic, because the genetic side was that it’s her mother and the learned side is because the young girl saw this as she grew up. 2. Is it formed by experience or do we inherit it?  Personality is formed by both experience and inheritance, just depends on how exactly the personality trait was formed by the individual. Many children copy what their parents do when they are younger, like cussing, fighting, or even acticing a certain way. Once they start getting older, many of the traits that we had when we were younger have gone away but a few stay. These are also inherited because they are traits that keep up with you in adulthood. 3. Provide an analysis of each panelist's viewpoint.  Prof. John Carey His biggest comebacks were science related. Prof. Peter McGuffin Peter’s point on twins were interesting. Twins that grew up in different areas, like separated at birth could live similar lives, is one thing that Peter seemed to talk about. He also believed that parents passed on many genes to their children, and that’s how personality is formed. Dr. Micheal Maler He was very into animals being tested......

...Week 2 DQ 1 How does knowledge of the foundations and history of nursing provide a context in which to understand current practice? Identify at least three trends in nursing practice from the "Nursing Timeline of Historical Events" media piece. How have these trends influenced your perspective of nursing practice?  Well for the beginning question on the foundations and history, for me personally I am very grateful for the men and women who pioneered nursing, without them nursing would not be what it is now, and there continues to be lots of changes in nursing that is why it is so important to continue learning. We are the future of nursing and will be pioneers to the nurses that follow us after we are long gone. This foundation and history that previous nurses have left us with helps me with how I care for my patients, from planning, organizing, educating, and discharge and beyond because of them. Now I understand where they came from. There is so much context in nursing it’s difficult to pick one topic. Lecture 2 (2011). For the second question, on the three trends; the first one for me that I identified with was Mary Eliza Mahoney, and how she helped minority nurses in this field, I also was the only nurse out of 4 to graduate from my LPN program, and talk about discrimination, WOW! There was lots of it and lots of segregation in a cliques which still continues on to this day, it’s like I have to work harder than others to prove myself, so yes I understand that aspect....

...Question: Lately I’ve noticed that my employees spend way too much time texting when they should be working. Can you give me some guidance regarding text messaging in the workplace? I am not sure what I can and cannot do to prevent my employees from texting at work. Answer: Text messaging (or “texting”) has grown so quickly in popularity and has become so pervasive that it has become part of our workplace culture. Some recent statistics regarding text messaging demonstrate how incredibly popular it has become in the last several years: More than 70% of wireless users (or more than 200 million Americans) have an SMS (or “short message service”) package for their mobile device that allows for short text messages to be sent from one device to another. The use of text messaging increased by 107% in 2009. Approximately 2.5 billion text messages are sent each day in the United States. More text messages are now sent via cell phone than calls placed with those same phones. Employers can adopt a policy prohibiting text messaging at work. If text messaging continues, you can discipline employees for violating the policy because, as you note, employees who are texting while at work are not working. Because of the prevalence of text messaging, even if you ban text messaging during work hours, you should put some guidelines in place that address texting in the workplace and require that your employees comply with them. For instance, you should have a policy in......

...Chapter 2, 3 Questions: Chapter 2 Question 2. Resolve this ethical dilemma posed by Carl Kaufmann of Du Pont: Assume that federal health investigators are pursuing a report that one of your manufacturing plants has a higher-than-average incidence of cancer among its employees. The plant happens to keep excellent medical records on all its employees, stretching back for decades, which might help identify the source of the problem. The government demands the files. But if the company turns them over, it might be accused of violating the privacy of all those workers who had submitted to private medical exams. The company offers an abstract of the records, but the government insists on the complete files, with employee names. Then the company tries to obtain releases from all the workers, but some of them refuse. If you give the records to the feds, the company has broken its commitment of confidentiality. What would you do? 2. Answer: There are laws that are in place to protect employee’s privacy. If I was the owner of the plant I wouldn’t mind handing over the records but only if I got the employee’s to fill out a release form. By me doing this, it keeps employees morale and confidence in trusting that their privacy is being kept. By not getting permission, employee can take legal actions against the company; it would be in the best nature to only hand over the files that are released with permission. Unless presented with court orders, I make sure that legal counsel...
