To Work or Not to Work

...To work or not to work – That is the question: Whether ‘Tis politer in the mind to tolerate the insults And listen to the complaints of annoying customers, Or to resign from my job entirely And by quitting, rest or study for school. To work, to quit— No more—and by showing up to work I face The same old same old preparations for customers That each day holds.—‘Tis a situation I do not wish to face. To work, to quit— To quit, perhaps to rest. Ay, there’s the problem, For in quitting what events may come about When we have no money to have fun Must make us all think. That’s the thought That makes disaster of an invite to a Girls Night Out. For who really wants to work a long 8 hour shift, Deal with the annoyance of refolding clothes, the crabby managers, The disappointment of an empty break room, the cheapness of supplies, The overly dramatic co-worker, and the grimacing looks That the customers send my way when looking at their totals, When they too, may work And go through the same things I have to? Who would want this, To walk in the same exact steps every day, But the dread of being broke, The thought of spending weekends alone or The realization of the fact that we don’t have a life, Wishing that we did have some sort of job for cash Instead of seeking those wasted days of being lazy? Thus the chance of missing out on a fun night does make us want to work, And thus happiness of being with friends Is tainted by thoughts of how I cannot afford...

...Anyone looking to work in the restaurant business shouldn’t be expecting to just walk in and know exactly what they are doing. I run food, which sounds easy at first, but after awhile it becomes an extreme pain in the butt. Something as simple as giving food to a customer can become utterly annoying. I learned many things through working in restaurant. “It’s dog eat dog world”. This sentence reminds me how hard to keep restaurant business. One of the biggest misconception about the restaurant business is that people seem to think it’s easy -going. I can say one thing for sure, a popular restaurant will never be an easy-going restaurant, but working at a popular restaurant is the only way to make any sort of money. making money in a restaurant can often become competitive. For the servers and food runners, it’s all about making money, so it is inevitable that some workers are going to butt heads. Sometimes, I find myself hustling over to a table of people before another one of my workers can get there, it’s almost laughable but that’s just the way it works. Some might even go as far to say that the business is “dog eat dog” amongst the workers. It really is simple, whoever waits on the most tables is going to make the most money. Don’t get me wrong though, a server could wait on the most tables all night, but if their service isn’t good the amount of money they makes will be minimized....

...Cycle for Windows 3.1. The release of Windows 3.1 was received by the business community as a major milestone in improving the functionality of stand-alone computer systems. Features such as concurrent processing, dynamic data exchange (DDE) and object linking and embedding (OLE) for the first time allowed best-of-breed software applications to function cooperatively on a personal computer. Windows 3.1 ran 16-bit Windows and DOS applications, which also was the first operating system with built-in multimedia technology. The addition of audio services and media control support to Windows 3.1 is yet another evolutionary step toward bringing multimedia functionality into the mainstream of desktop computing. Windows 3.1 works seamlessly with Multimedia Extensions 1.0. The extensible architecture of Windows makes it possible for multimedia computing to span low-cost systems for home and education to sophisticated multimedia authoring platforms for the higher end of the market. An important enabling technology for multimedia computing is the OLE protocol described above. The Windows operating system version 3.1 is an important next step in Microsoft's core systems strategy-an evolutionary. I also really like that the tennis team are mostly international, we got British, Czech, Spanish, Colombian, Egyptian, Canadian and etc., this is amazing because you can learn a lot about other countries while talking to them. Before I got there my friend told me that I will spend most of my time with the team, I didn't believe her but now I see that is true. I spend a lot of time with my teammates and they're becoming like family to me. As for the school work I like my classes, they're really interesting but some teachers are just too rude and don't want to help at all. There's also one Russian teacher, she told me she could help me with my statistics class anytime and explain It to me in my native language. ...The Organization of Work The Nature and Organization of Work With the onset of the Industrial Revolution and the emergence of the practice of the division of labor and the emphasis on specialization, factories and company-owned industries had to employ hundreds and thousands of workers whom the owner or the manager does not know personally. The relationship between the entrepreneur (capital) and the workers (labor) is remote and impersonal, so lacking the “human touch”. Sociologist are intensely interested in the study of the interactive and interrelation between the employer and the employee and between an employee as he relates with other employees. Since, the worker is not a mere ”machine” but a human being, he has to satisfy his social needs. Workers do not confine their lives only to their place of work. They have families. And as communities were formed, large industries eventually surfaced. Status, roles and social mobility, as well as social organizations and social interrelationships, are important aspects of community life. This community situation, both inside and outside the factory, has given rise to an important development in sociology which many refer to as Industrial Sociology (Espiritu, 1979). This is also known as the organization of work. It is associated with organizational problems such as workers’ morale, productivity, absenteeism, and turn-over rates. However, its main concern is not how management can solve organizational problems. As discipline,......

...M1- Explain the value of three different resources in the preparation of the complex piece of work. D1- Evaluate the three resources in terms of validity. In this assignment I am going to be talking about a complex piece of work that I have already done for an assignment, and I will be explaining the value of 3 different resources and evaluating the 3 sources in terms of validity. The 3 resources that I am going to be talking about are: the internet, a text book, and NHS facts. I found all of these resources useful in different ways, and also reliable in different ways. I chose these particular resources because I have many opinions about them, some good, some bad. The mix of opinions is good because I can discuss both sides, and have a good balance between the opinions. The internet The source that I will be talking about first is the internet. The use of the internet helped me a lot with the assignment, this is because I was easily able to just search up what I needed to and then was able to put it into my own words and add it into my piece of work. I think that it also made my work better because I knew that the websites I was using were reliable and all the information in them was correct. And I think that this made my work good because I knew the information was correct and knew that I didn’t put anything in that was incorrect. Another way that it helped to support my work was that it was quick and easy, it gave me the answers straight away, and I didn’t have to......
