The creative process has four stages, which are searching for challenges, expressing the particular problem or issue, investigating it, and producing a range of ideas. When one is searching for challenges one would explore, discover, and understand. We might believe that something is done a certain way because of common or past practices and overlook challenging the norm. So, we try to use our imagination by using techniques dealing with collaboration and eliminating options with creativity. The second stage deals with expressing the particular problem or issue is a stumbling block. Having insight about a problem allows ones vision and gaps that need to be fixed or corrected. Stage three is investigating the problem or issue deals with reviewing past experiences, observe the issue, and research. The last stage deals with producing ideas allow them to be manifested by evaluating to see whether the new process is better than the old.
The personal challenges from the textbook, Ruggiero provided six specific techniques:
1. Being observant.
2. Look for the imperfections in things.
3. Note you’re own and others' dissatisfactions.
4. Search for causes.
5. Being sensitive to implications.
6. Recognize the opportunity in controversy

The personal challenge that some have from a leadership aspect is being dictated how to manage a team, which is a problem that I fine unacceptable. People in management should have some intellect on how and what their role is. It could be viewed as harassment from one’s boss. As a leader, it is not enough to exemplify leadership qualities, traits, principles, and style; however, one must know how to plan, make decisions, supervise, and identify and solve problems. As we know how to do some things there are some things that we do not know how to do but it is absolutely necessary. Leaders must learn more for positions and opportunities.…...

Discovering what caused the problem, where that particular problem was on the aircraft and coming up with the final solution gave me such pride in what I did on a daily basis. What was best was when I was working on the A-10A aircraft. This was not the high tech computer heavy aircraft in today’s Air Force. This was a “hard-wired” jet that had little to no digital capabilities. To troubleshoot these took time tracing faults through wires and reading wiring diagrams and schematics. I spend many times inside a Hardened Aircraft Shelter with a multi-meter and a book in front of me, checking for voltage and continuity in wires. It came natural to me and I never thought of the processes that I used to accomplish the troubleshooting. As I look back on these times, I was definitely using a creative process to fix these ailing aircraft, and it was very simple in the way things flowed.
