Client Memo to Monitor Company

...MEMORANDUM Date To: Monitor Company Directors From: Consultant Subject: Coordination of diversity efforts at Monitor Company BACKGROUND Recently you informed me that Monitor Company does not have a single vision for diversity and you have asked if this would be either damaging or helpful in the firm’s task of increasing diversity efforts. A few incidents or events triggered Monitor to begin thinking about diversity and inclusion programs. Currently there are three separate initiatives: the Advisor Network, Harassment Training and a series of seminars for women, and the Diversity Network. The purpose of the Advisors Network is to provide an outlet and resource for employees who need advice on issues such as succeeding at Monitor as either a woman, a person of color, or a GLBT employee. That initiative was created after the “Definition of Purpose” exercise done in 1993 surfaced issues related to the homogenous culture of the firm. Sexual Harassment and Sensitivity Training was deemed necessary after a 1991 director’s meeting. In that meeting, CFO David Kaplan stressed the need for “professional courtesy” training, and then the two female directors, Liz Martineau and Caroline Firstbrook disclosed that they had experienced “gender-related insensitivity”. Another thought of Martineau and Firstbrook was that female consultants were in need of role models to help guide them through the barriers of being a female in the consulting industry, which led to a seminar in 1994......

...create the overall index of digitization, by market and industry, and to understand better where certain markets and industries are leading or lagging. Thus, the financial services and insurance sector has an index of 53, which means that, on a scale of 1 to 100, the sector scored an average of 53 for the four factors contributing to digitization (see “Methodology,” page 13). Booz & Company 3 LEADERS AND LAGGARDS At the highest level, the top three sectors in terms of industry digitization are financial services and insurance, computers and electronics, and media and telecommunications (see Exhibit 1). • Financial services and insurance: This sector has long been the highest-spending industry in terms of information and communications technology (ICT) investments, first digitizing key transaction processes like electronic transfer of funds, securities trading and clearing, and interbank settlement. More recently, it has worked to further digitize the front office, moving from traditional retail and call center activities to fully online processes by which virtually every aspect of retail and home banking is digitized, and developing smart ATMs and online banking solutions to boost convenience and service delivery efficiency. The financial sector’s lead in digitization comes as no surprise: Our previous analysis of the digitization trend found that information-intensive industries will naturally spend more to maintain their competitive advantage, and thus......

...My client is fairly familiar with using computers and can handle basic task. She also has some experience with using Access, but only for viewing data she receives from others. Microsoft Word is another program she is used to. She will need some basic lessons in how to use Access to add or edit data. One of her receptionists knows how to do this, so can teach her. I also recommend that she buys a manual or user guide for her and her staff to read to familiarise themselves with the software. She rated her ease at learning new skills as 7. My client can also save data as well as copy it (including to an external hard drive). The receptionists have a similar skill level to Mrs. Johnson, but rated their ease of learning as 8 and 9. They also said that they are able to handle common errors and problems. Two of the vets have some basic computer skills, but only one of them knows how to use Access. The other will need to learn from either my client or the receptionists. They both know how to use Word. The other two vets have nominal computer skills, so will need more extensive lessons on how to use the system. I would recommend that they go on a training course before the new system comes in place. My client is legitimately accustomed through by revenues of computers and can button basic task. He also partakes some experience with expending Excel, but only for broadcasting data she take delivery of from others. Microsoft Word is a not the same plug-in she is used to. She will......

...1) Client A: For Client A I would use the exploratory research as my research design. Exploratory Research entails a very informal research method, in order to gain more background information about the problem. In this case it is said “In these situations we know immediately the problem is that we don’t know what the problem is. There are many possible causes for this slippage.” After gaining their little knowledge of information they have on the cause of the market share to slip 15%, it is clear that this case would be an exploratory research. Also I would use a hypothesis in order to speculate the decline in market share in the past 12 months. Client B: For Client B I would use the Descriptive research design. Descriptive research mostly describes the answers to questions of who, what, where, when, and how. In this case Client B gives us enough information to work from. I would use the cross-sectional study. The cross-sectional study, measures in more of a large population and sample sizes. This study can be beneficial by narrowing down the time period associated with each campaign in each region, and the product category as well. Client C: For Client C I would use the Casual Research method. With Casual research, it mostly focuses on determining what will cause a change in consumer satisfaction, gain in market share, or increases in sales. In this case Client C is trying to determine what factors of their package design (size, shape, color, texture, etc.)to......

Client-Based or Client/Serer

...Client-based or client/serer Mashelle Scott IT/240 December 20, 2013 Jennifer Gonzales Client-based or client/serer After reading the scenario I choose a client/server model. Client/server networks employ one or more centralized servers that house critical information that is shared by everyone. Meaning, that it is comprised of a single central computer acting as a server that directs multiple other computers,(clients). They also provide centralized backup, which can be determined by the business. Also as a business expands a client server enables them to reach a shared database program no matter the distance. If there were to be an issue the company could recover the data and resume operations. With client/server model the servers are sometimes clustered in order to provide failover capability in the event hardware failure which avoids downtime and saves the company money. In any situation the decision to employ a client-based or client-server network depends on the business in question. If the company is a small business it may do well without a costly server, as long as there is someone appointed to ensure the backups are performed. As with a bigger business it might be more important to utilize a client-server network for the reason stated above. With a larger company it will be more important in order to provide the security and stability that a client/server network gives. For example, through encryption data can be available only to qualified......

...The first part of establishing a client-server network in the Home Hospice Care building would be establishing where the Access Points would be in the building for the WLAN, because the Windows 2008 server machine that is running Medical Manager is already set-up for the most part. Here is a diagram of the floor plan with the location of where the APs will be set-up. Each AP will be set-up with an omnidirectional antenna, with antenna gain features to ensure that signal is properly spread to all areas of the hospice through walls and other obstacles. I believe a wireless local area network is the best option. Next, the servers for the file managers and three-in-one printer, copier, and fax machine must be set-up. These servers will also be running on Windows 2008 standard. The file machine needs to be its own dedicated box, so that there is no extra delay for managers and employees when files need to be read, wrote, and managed. A print server set-up with one three-in-one machine would be the easiest to set-up and cost-effective as well. This would be beneficial to all employees and easy to set-up on each workstation. Windows 7 Professional edition would be the best idea for each workstation here at the company. Each workstation needs to have its own license purchased, but the benefits of having extended RAM capabilities is critical to the doctors/nurses here. Also, I think 6 notebook workstations would be a good standard for the doctors/nurses. They......

...to use and modify the model subject according to the specific event (Slivers, 2014). The planners, managers and event designers could take the overall model as a framework for the purpose of monitoring and maximizing the event in question in the whole process or organisation of the event. In this report, I will compare each part with some other models to analyse the whole process of the event and according to this report build a new model that more fit our event. 2. Team building A general manager, a number of professions and functional area managers who demonstrate the nature of project will constitute the project management team (Getz, 2005). Huffadine (1993) said that project management team should give full play to the internal communication and flexibility so as to turn the bureaucratic hierarchy improper. This project, we used Belbin team role. The Belbin team role is used in this project to determine people’s behavioral strengths and weaknesses at the workplace(Macrosson & Hemphill, 2001). It requires us to be aware of the pitfalls and exert ourselves to avoid them. By doing so, we will set up fruitful working relationship, choose and develop the high-performing teams, arouse self-awareness and personal effectiveness, cultivate mutual trust and understanding as well as aid recruitment processes (Aritzeta, Swailes, & Senior, 2007). However, the Belbin team role is just measures behaviors of the members, not the stage of the process. Therefore, team manager can......

When Consultants and Clients Clash

...The main problem at Kellogg-Champion is that the CEO, Royce Kellogg has no clue that his idea that things regarding the merger are in great shape are wrong. He told the consultants that all the “big integration related issues” were taken care of and all he really needs is some help finishing the small details of “finalizing common operating policies and procedures in ways that are good business and fair to all”. This sounded like a simple task, however it became obvious to Susan Barlow and Jim Roussos after just gathering and sifting through data that the commonalities between the two companies were not as prominent as they were led to believe. This probably should have raised a red flag and triggered an immediate request for a more in-depth discussion with CEO Royce Kellogg. Another problem at Kellogg-Champion is that while the CEO, Royce Kellogg, made it sound as though there had been good communication throughout the entire merger thus far, the truth revealed something quite different. Even before interviews were started, Susan Barlow and Jim Roussos had problems getting interviews scheduled. Since Royce Kellogg, had told them both that they could expect complete cooperation from both companies employees and that both of the companies’ people had been told to expect them, this was another thing that should have raised a red flag. Perhaps with both the difficulty in scheduling interviews and the massive differences in policies and procedures, Susan Barlow and Jim......

...learning new methods that enhance time management in addition to communication skills. Within the short period of beginning this class, the reading assignments and discussion questions have prompted a renewed enthusiasm for leadership that is and my obligation to take action in developing and strengthening my skills to be an effective consultant. One method found particularly helpful is the attempt to tailoring the consultant’s approach to that of the consultee’s worldview. This requires a mindfully consideration of the consultee’s values and analysis of their situation. As a result, participation in this class brings to mind a broader scope of understanding to include the consultant actively considering systems within and between organizations, their subsystems and their coordinating and discordant impact on the consultee’s (myself) client (the district), the community and beyond. Collaboration, while a feature of working in any clinical setting, now has greater significance when thinking about the consultant, consultee and organizational relationship in the context of community and politics. Another impressive contribution I have gained is the estimation of subsystems within systems and hidden agendas of those involved in and influenced by the consultation and consultee relationship. While I have had an awareness of these influences on the dynamics between service recipient and, service provider in this case, consultant and consultee, I have taken the degree systems and......
