My approach in writing an assignment for class is more of a textbook approach. In other words, what I learned about writing in class are the steps I take when writing for an assignment. The first step I take when writing for an assignment is by pre-writing. Pre-writing organizes my thoughts and helps in making the topic I am writing about more interesting. I start out with a draft of my thoughts and ideas on the topic that I am writing about for that particular assignment. With this step, I can put those ideas in an effective form and I am able to communicate my thoughts and ideas on the topic or subject matter in written form. From there, I take the revising step. I try to look at my work more critically in this step and I am revising different parts of what I have written in making the paper I am writing a well-written finished product. The last step for me is to edit my written work. I am able to look over what I have written, re-read, edit and I am also checking for spelling and grammar issues in what I have written thus far. In this editing step, I also enlist someone else to read and edit my finish written work. Having someone else to read what I have written and giving me feedback is the most important step in the process for me. By doing this step, I have an opinion and the critical eye of someone else other than myself, to give me a different perspective of my written work. Taking the above steps in writing helps me not only improving my written assignment but to also improve my writing abilities in the future.…...

Week 9 Assignment Com/155

...Week 9 Assignment Com/155 2. My final assignment in Com/155 is to analyze two paragraphs, written by two unknown writers; I chose paragraphs three and four. In each individual paragraph, the writers’ attention is on informing the reader about the various processes associated with credit. In paragraph three, the writer began his or her text, by giving examples as to why a person is not eligible for credit. It further explains in the text that upon denial, you would receive a letter from the Fair Credit Reporting Act, documenting the terms of its refusal. Paragraph four opened up by acknowledging that most consumers understand the security and stability of a good credit score; the text further explained the process involved in calculating a credit rating. The writer of paragraph three, style of writing appeared choppy and fragmented; the writer was very repetitious in his or her use of words. Paragraph four lacked the necessary purpose to support the content with in the text. Both paragraphs were affective in there individual ideas, of informing the reader about the do and do not, in regards to obtaining and maintaining credit; still there were some unanswered questions. Paragraph three is the more informative of the two, having purpose, giving examples of why one is denied credit, and content, informing you on the......

...Jessica Gibson I think my essay could have been a lot better than what I did. My essay lacked sequential order. I feel like my sentences could have been a bit more complex also. I think my topics did address my thesis statement the correct way. My paragraphs did not have a strong closing to support my topic. My essay only had little coherence; It flowed in certain portions of the essay. I think the order of my essay could have been revised from less important to most important. I think I did have strong evidence to support my topic but I could’ve used more vivid language. I also think the essay did reflect the evidence and explained the importance. I didn’t use many transitions in the essay neither. I think I could have used more transitional words to help my essay flow better. My goal when rewriting my essay is to be as vivid as possible. I admit my rough draft had many errors but I will try my best to avoid those errors when writing my final draft. My final draft will have better sentence structure and more transitions to help my essay flow better. I will try my best to support my topics in each paragraph so my essay. My final draft should be fresh and interesting. I think I didn’t paste myself for my rough draft and was trying to get the essay done. I must learn to paste myself and take out time to get all my thoughts together to improve my essay. I will try to use some of the techniques from the class to have a successful essay....

Paragraph Writing

...Paragraph Writing When writing academically, purpose, audience, tone, and content greatly influence the writing to be delivered effectively. Purpose of a paragraph or writing is why the writer originally had written the writing. What ideas, stories, or information he has to share gives the writer purpose and reason for the writing. The purpose has an impact on the writing because it is the main cause for it to be written and without the purpose, there would be no need to write. Audience affects writing because you should try to develop a certain relationship with your audience and accommodate your writing to the audience’s needs. Knowing your audience’s background, demographics, and education can affect the information and content of the writing to make the audience relate to what is written. Audience affects the writing on how it is presented and put together to be more clearly understandable. Audience expectations and interests affect writing by keeping the writing interesting and relevant so you do not lose the audience’s attention. Tone affects writing because it serves as the writer’s attitude toward the written subject. Using tone can alert the audience to the attitude of the writing such as funny, sad, somber, and exciting. Using tone affects writing because the writer wants to bring the correct mood to the audience and to the subject written about. Content affects writing by keeping the audience attention with appropriate material. By having content appropriate......

Paragraph Writing

...I have a thorough writing process when doing an assignment for class. The very first step that I do, before starting any writing process, is to take notes on what I am writing about. I write down exactly what is expected of me, and any notes that I will need to understand what I am writing. This helps me to remember the information. Then, I lay out my notes in order all around me, so that I can see them if I need them. I am a free-writer, so my second step is to just start writing. At this step, I try not to think about any correction’s that I will need to make. The third step is going over my writing; making any corrections and revising that need to be done. Lastly, I write my final draft that will be turned in as my assignment for class. My writing process is very similar to the writing process outlined in my textbook. My textbook lists the writing process as: prewriting, planning, drafting, revising, and proofreading. (Pages 3 and 4 of Wordsmith) My prewriting is when I am taking notes for my assignment. When I lay out my notes in the order that I want to write my paragraphs, is when I am planning. My drafting process is when I just start writing. When I proofread my assignment that is when I am doing the revising and proofreading process. As you see, my writing process and the writing process outlined in my textbook are very similar. ...Final Essay Katie Beauchamp COM/155 June 16, 2013 Dr. Andrews Many people know someone who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. It is confusing how some people use these names interchangeably. While Alzheimer’s disease and dementia have similar characteristics, the treatment for the disease is based on symptoms as well as how the diseases are acquired. Alzheimer’s is a form of dementia so they are very closely related. (Fraller, 2013) Knowing the slight differences between the two diseases could, in some cases, mean a cure. Both Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are caused by a dysfunction in the brain. In Alzheimer’s disease, there is a loss of brain cells brought on by age. Studies have shown that 10% of all people over the age of 65 and 50% of people over the age of 85 have Alzheimer’s. Out of all those people, only 1% of them inherited the disease. Someone who has experienced multiple head injuries or high insulin levels are also at a greater risk of acquiring Alzheimer’s. On the other hand, dementia is caused by changes to the brain. These changes may be caused by a stroke, brain tumors, or even head injuries. Diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, hyperthyroidism, B12 deficiency, and fluid build-up on the brain have also been known to cause dementia. (Healthwise Incorporated, 2011) Once the causes of the two diseases have been determined, it is important to discuss the symptoms. The similarities between the symptoms of Alzheimer’s......

...Paragraph 1 I chose Paralegal as a career path because I am very enthused and, passionate about law, the legal system and, legal research. Being able to work for Finnegan & Wicker Law Firm will help me to hone my skills, to grow and learn more in this field. As a paralegal, to be able to assist lawyers with depositions, drafting of pleadings, subpoenas and, other legal documents is a very fulfilling task. There is one particular event that inspired me and propelled me into pursuing a career as a paralegal and that’s – watching and reading the civil case brought against Orenthal James Simpson (O.J), by the family of Ronald Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson in 1997 - (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O._J._Simpson_murder_case). The depth in which the depositions were done and the discovery process led to a successful win in the civil trial. The success of the civil suit in my opinion was mainly due to the adequate and proper research that was done, no stones were left unturned and, even though O.J was found not guilty in criminal court for the death of Ron Goldman and, Nicole Brown Simpson respectively he was held responsible for their deaths in civil court. Seeing the outcome of the civil trial against O.J, I knew that I would really enjoy being a paralegal and, to be able to work for some of the best lawyers here at Finnegan & Wicker Law Firm, makes becoming a paralegal worthwhile. I sincerely hope that I can become a part of your prestigious organization and team. Nickey......

Whereas her use of statistics seemed to bolster her arguments, it would have been nice to see her elaborate more about the specific deductions missed. She could have talked about what recourse, if any, a filer would have once he or she realized there was an overlooked deduction. She also should have focused more on why the deductions were overlooked, as that would have made the article more effective. 2. Writing Paragraphs

...First paragraph. When it comes to writing a paper we should be very careful with mistakes, which we might have. While we writing our paper we might face many challenges. The first challenge which people might face writing a paper it is when there are too many words, which repeat a lot. People usually do not pay enough attention to that because they do not think it is a big deal usually. However we should pay attention to repeat words a lot, it might get our readers be confused and think that we do not know grammar rules at all. The second challenge, which people do face it is when they write too long or too short sentences. In other words, people do not keep sentence variety or rhythm of the paragraphs. When our writing does have sentences that too long or too short, it looks like we write long sentences because we do not know what we are trying to explain. The third challenge is not putting punctuation where it need to be. Without a punctuation the whole paper will look like it is not organized at all and does have a lot of information, which look like a mess. All our mistakes in paper will make our readers think that we just do not know basic grammar rules and it might lead to the situation where our readers will not take our work serious. Second paragraph. It is not so easy to overcome the challenges that we might face while we are writing a paper. The best way of avoiding them is to find them before we will submit our work. It is not easy but we can do it, if......
