Making Business Decisions I: Networks and Telecom
As stated in the business dilemma, m-coupons have higher redemption rates than either paper or e-coupons because they are not forgotten. Very few people leave their cell phones at home when they leave the house. Therefore, it is virtually impossible to leave your coupon home. In addition to being easier to redeem, they are also substantially cheaper to send than traditional coupons for the company. The average paper coupon can cost anywhere from 0.25 to 0.40 per mailed coupon. Based on the price point and the effectiveness of redemption, m-coupons are more beneficial to a company than traditional coupons.
The downside of the mobile marketing and m-coupons is that at times people may view it as spam, and since spam is regarded very negatively, the café would not want that perception amongst its customers or potential customers. Also, text messages could cost receiver money if they don’t have an unlimited plan. There are very few people who are willing to pay for coupons.
The privacy issues involved with mobile marketing and m-coupons deal with the unwanted spam associated with m-coupons. Service providers’ needs to have customers sign up for the promotions and coupons in order for there to be no privacy complaints. Another factor to take into account is the age of the consumer. There are more eight to ten year olds with mobile phones today, and they don’t have the legal right to consent to receive the correspondences, which would create an even bigger privacy concern if the parents who pay for the phones are unhappy with their child receiving the messages.
With the privacy issues aside, the café can benefit from collecting and tracking response rates of m-coupons by customers from having customers fill out a survey when they come to the café. The survey could help to understand the best and…...

...Business Decision Making Project, Final Silke Robinson Statistics QNT 275 October 5, 2014 Barry Adkins Business Decision Making Project, Final Data Collected The data that was collected and used for this report is the total accident payout for the State Farm company customer when in an at fault accident with a Star & Shield Insured in Leon County, Florida. The number reflects the total payout after the accident was completely settled, and as such can contain underlying data that would include which specific coverage was used to pay the claim. We could break the numbers down even further, by coverage, however for the purpose of this report, we will just use the totals. Total payouts by Quarter If we take the above chart for example, we can tell that the total payout, by quarter, has continued to climb over the last four years and in 2013 total payout number more than doubled over the previous year. In the insurance industry, knowing why how and why the sharp increase occurred is very important in order to stay competitive and in business. The above chart tells us that something significant happened in 2013 that increased payouts that much. Since the above data is from the State of Florida, chances are that some major natural disaster can be held responsible for spike in claims. Again, the company would have to break these numbers down a lot further, to see what coverage was used. If we only looked at the average payout, displayed above, we might......

...Business Decision Making Project, Part 2 Ashelik Bagley QNT/275 December 7, 2014 Professor Adkins Abstract Communication is an issue that plagues many businesses today. In an effort to confront this problem, we must collect and analyze data. There are two types of information, qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data is information that cannot be measured with numbers as it is information about qualities. Information such as the hardness of the rock, how gracefully one walks and the color of one’s eyes are examples of qualitative data. Quantitative data is information that can be written down and measured using numbers. Examples of quantitative data are one’s weight, shirt size, and length of one’s hair. Quantitative data was collected in an attempt to find the core reason communication is an issue for First Service Residential, a small property management company. Quantitative research relies upon probability sampling in order to be able to generalize results to the wider population. Sample selection is based on participation to the relevance of the questions being asked. Quantitative data should be reliable and produce the same response and allow for replication. For part 2 of my collaboration of a business problem, I will explain how I obtained a suitable sample of quantitative data, review the data for validity and reliability while using descriptive statistics to summarize the data. Business Decision Making Part I

...Business Decision Making Part I Business Decision Making Part I Data sets are useful when the need to analyze and answer questions come into play. With the real estate data chosen by our team, we were able to see the need for a few answers right off the bat. With multiple variables present, a few questions that came to mind were; what is the average price of a 4 bedroom house, does square footage affect the price of a home, and even does the amount of bedrooms and bathrooms affect the price of a home? These are all great questions surrounding the data and the question we chose to answer is; does square footage directly affect the price of a home? This posed as a great question for first time home buyers and those that are already in a house. This provides great details into what size house a family may need, and what they can realistically afford. Data The variables we are working with will be the size and price of the real estate. These two variables provide the insight into what size house alters what pricing tier within the real estate market.
