Introduction
I chose to research the profession of an health information technician. I chose this profession because I like working with technology and want a career in healthcare. I am also detail-oriented, organized and interested in science and medicine. I believe that a job as a health information technician could be the right fit for me. My paper will inform you on the advantages of following a career in the health information technician career field. First of all, this one of the few jobs in the medical industry that has no hands on contact with patients. Another advantage is the wages that can be made and the benefits provided by employers. The last point to be made is that the employment rate is expected to grow it fastest ever in the years to come. The first advantage that will be discussed is the work environment and the different specialties. This job is done mainly inside the comforts of an office, at a desk. The majority of the work is mainly done on a computer. Even though most of the work is done on a computer there is still some work that is done over the phone and paper work that may need to be filed. A health information technician has no hands-on contact with patients what so ever. People in this field tend to work the standard 40 hour work week, with all national recognized holidays off. Another advantage is being able to choose if you want strictly work codifying patient medical records or you can choose to work as a cancer registry (Johnson, 2006).
With that being said, the role and responsibilities of a Health Information Technician (HIT) also known as a Medical Records Technician include maintaining the medical information system of a…...

...Building a career plan is difficult, if people have no clue what career field interest them, what is the person strength and weaknesses, and if the person posse the passion for a certain career. Working on my competencies section, I have identified my strengths. If I have to categorize myself with the results, I will say my top three is adapting to change, strategizing, and innovating. To be a high-quality manager or a leader, they must be willing to accept changes. Since, not all work environments are the same. Adjusting to change will make a person realize what works and what does not work. At the same time strategizing and innovative is critical to managers. For a company to raise profit or cut spending, it requires strategizing because without a road map a person may not be able to find the final destination. An innovative person who thinks outside the box usually performs at a higher level. Creative and innovative thinkers stand out in front of their peers and will be successful in their careers. Conducting the exercise, I understand how competencies relate to one another and identify my strength and weakness. If I change my communication techniques to be an effective communicator, I will ensure to disseminate information at the lowest level and use back brief technique. This will mitigate miscommunication among the staff and I will use this technique to check on my staff. ...Overview Founded in 1999, Blue Nile had grown to become the largest online retailer of certified diamonds and fine jewelry, with sales of $203.2 million in 2005 (up from $169.2 million in 2004). According to Internet Retailer Magazine, in 2006 Blue Nile was larger than the next three largest online jewelers combined; the magazine had ranked Blue Nile No. 48 in its Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites; in its December 2006 issue, the magazine went a step further and named Blue Nile an Internet Retailer Best of the Web 2007 company (one of five companies cited). In 2006, the market for jewelry in the U.S. was an estimated $55-$60 billion industry. Annual sales of diamond jewelry were in the $30-$35 billion range, with diamond engagement rings accounting for sales of $4-$5 billion. In an industry famous for big markups, frequent closeout sales, and myriad judgments of value that often mystified consumers, the marketing challenge for online jewelers was to convince understandably skittish shoppers to purchase fine jewelry online. It was one thing to shop for a diamond in a reputable jewelry store where one could put on a ring or other jewelry item to see how it looked, perhaps inspect a stone with a magnifying glass or microscope, and have a qualified jeweler describe the features of various stone(s) and cuts, compare the character and merit of various settings, and explain why some items carried higher price tags than others. It was quite another thing to commit to......
