Introduction

Calveta Dining Service was built on Antonio Calveta’s passion food and traditional family values. Calveta Dining Service was $2 billion, privately held firm that managed food services operations for nearly 1,000 senior living facilities (SLFs) in the United States. When Antonio retired in 2007 after 35 years of leadership, he named his eldest son, Frank to be as a Chief Executive Officer in Calveta Dining Service. He told his son to double the company’s revenue within five years. Having immigrated from a poor village in southern Italy and Antonio was often working in 16 hours per day, grew into a shrewd and competitive restaurateur. In the beginning of 1966, with the neighborhood restaurant in Brooklyn, New York that featured old family recipes was make Antonio eventually started a second and third restaurant. In June 2009, Calveta Dining Service ran food services for 976 SLFs and employed 15,000 people. Five hundreds of the worker is worked out of the company’s Brooklyn headquarters in corporate support functions which is including finance, marketing, human resources and culinary development. The other rest of the workers will work as account manager and directors, chefs and food service. All the staff will operate in all aspect of the resident dining facilities at a client SLF such as menu development, meal preparation and service, implementation of special programs such as themed and family events. In year 2008, Calveta’s have 2 billion in the annual revenues from 976 domestic SLFs was represented an estimated 10% of the total market, making it the fourth-larger competitor. This segment had enjoyed strong growth for well over a decade and Calveta had outplaced the industry average, growing revenue by 52% in the past three years alone.

1. Frank was struggle to present the revenue and growth strategies to his father, founder, and former CEO Antonio Calveta
