...The company, Thorr Motorcycles have noticed that even though the sales in the motorcycle market are still high, the sales of the CruiserThorr are down. In order to turn this around, Thorr has hired a team of marketing experts to create a marketing plan beginning with a perceptual map, which gives a visualized idea of what the customers’ perception are of the product. After creating an optimized perceptual map, the marketing team has to decide whether to continue with their present strategy plan or deliver a newer, less expensive motorcycle, the Rroth, that will appeal to the younger crowd. After a year of sales, the marketing team then has to create another perceptual map for the decision they made to either stay with the current strategy plan or with the Rroth. The four parameters I chose for the simulation were lifestyle image, product design and styling, product uniqueness, and quality engineering. I chose lifestyle image because this is what a customer thinks of a brand and I feel this should be a high category. Product design and styling satisfies the customer physically and comfortably. Product uniqueness gives the customers something that only they would get when they purchase this brand of motorcycle, like engine sound. Quality engineering proves that the motorcycle was made with the highest quality of materials and overall the best aspects of manufacturing. According to the results, I should have chosen price and service offerings instead of product design......

...What is the motorcycle? It is a single-track, two-wheeled motor vehicle powered by an engine. In simple words – bicycle with engine. Their styles could depend on their usage whether is for long distance traveling, cruising, sports or racing. There are many manufacturers around the world who make motorcycles but let’s focus on most significant ones. We can focus on BMW (German), Norton and Triumph (both British) and Vespa (Italian) as well as the situation in the world championship. May be you have watch Star Wars? I guess you know Obi-Wan Kenobi who is the tutor of Anakin Skywalker. The actor who is playing him is Ewan McGregor. He together with his friend Charlie Boorman made a trip with BMW R1150GS Adventure from London to New York and named it Long Way Round. This is the name also of a TV series and best-selling book. The model BMW that they used becomes more popular. Some of the most famous motorcycles at the beginning of the era are Norton and Triumph. The very beginning of Triumph backs us in the late 19th century – 1885 when Siegfried Bettmann who emigrated from Germany to England, Coventry found the company. At that point, the firm was dealing with bicycles and later they started with motorcycles. They received more publicity especially in United States because of a 1950 Thunderbird 6T in the 1953 that was ride by Marlon Brando in The Wild One. But in 1951 the Triumph’s company was sold to BSA. BSA means Birmingham Small Arms Company...

... Thor Motorcycles, Inc. xxxxxxx MKT/421 March 26, 2013 Thorr Motorcycles, Inc. Thorr Motorcycles, Inc. is a five billion dollar company that manufactures high-end motorcycles for a commanding forty percent of the market share. Viewed as a high brand image, Thorr Motorcycles, Inc. manufactures more than 200,000 motorcycles every year. On top of that, they also offer services including motorcycle rentals, dealer software packages, dealer training, rider training, and motorist riding apparel. In this simulation, the problem at hand is their line designed for the age range of 35 – 50, and the decrease of interest and sales for that particular bike. The reasons for the decline in sales is due to the age bracket it is designed for losing interest in the product and lifestyle, while the younger groups typically do not have the money available to purchase that style. This is a rising issue and is causing Thorr Motorcycles to lose market share although they are still a successful company. Thorr has realized this issue needs to be addressed immediately before too much of the market share is lost, therefore, they have brought me in as Marketing Manager in an attempt to create a perceptual map and re focus the marketing and advertising strategies. During my time at Thorr I am expected to establish parameters, decide whether to reposition the existing brand or launch a new product, and develop new parameters based on sales surveys of the new product. Motorcycle Safety

...Kim McKenzie Professor Heeder Writing 121 24 February 2015 Motorists and Motorcycle Safety: Distracted drivers even more noticeable while riding motorcycles If you’re a novice driver, dialing a phone is more dangerous than retrieving text messages, and reaching for an object while driving is more likely to produce an accident than eating behind the wheel. Although it may seem obvious, motorcycle riders face unique challenges on the road such as the lack of protective barriers between the road and riders, difficulties in anticipating and seeing a motorcycle, and the lack of experience and safety while riding. First, other vehicles can obscure motorcycles since we are a smaller target, preventing others to see you; whether it is through your side-view or rear-view mirror. This also is the case at intersections. Sometimes, there could be trees or tall grasses or weeds to keep motorist from noticing an oncoming motorcycle until it is too late. Road conditions are another barrier motorists as well as motorcyclist face. More to the point, motorcyclists should avoid such things as potholes, ruts, uneven pavement, and oil slicks. In avoiding these barriers, we are not only protecting damage to our bikes, but also the dangers of having to swerve in our lanes or side of the road and worry about oncoming traffic in the same lane. For instance, riding one day down a scenic back road, while avoiding many potholes, a fox ran out in front of us, which caused us to break while......

The best type of project organization that would suit the development of the larger touring class motorcycles would be the matrix organization. There are many different concepts to consider when selecting a project organization. Some of these aspects include, the projects size, length, where it is located, resources available, and experience. This is why I chose the matrix organization; employees are assigned to organizational groups, which split into two different types of groups. First the functional group, which is based on skills and they have a functional manager. Then there is another group that works on specific projects and report to a product manager. This means that the matrix organization is two-dimensional. Mentioned before there are different parts in a matrix organization; first one is the project team, this brings individuals together that are skilled from around the organization. According to Kerzner (2013)a project driven organization is a formally operated in its decision making along with highly specialized and disciplined team efforts in marketing, technical, operating personnel and customer involvement. According to Rider Magazine (2015) most cruisers are classically styled motorcycles that highlight the exposed engine–usually air-cooled V–twin–and metalwork such as chrome exhaust pipes or heavy fenders. They typically offer a relaxed, feet-forward riding position. Touring motorcycles, which includes some cruisers as well as other types of bikes, are designed for long-distance travel. Touring motorcycles have windshields (and sometimes a fairing) to protect the rider from wind, a comfortable seat and attached luggage, such as hard or soft saddlebags and possibly a trunk. ...Assignment 2: Project Motorcycles BUS 375 Strayer University May 2, 2015 A popular motorcycle manufacturer wanted to take their business to the next level. They wanted to go from making medium size motorcycles to large motorcycles, with larger motors. This would not only target a larger rider class, but income class as well. This task would be cumbersome, however, it would be something the project manager would be well-adjusted to. As a projectized organization, they are able to “develop as a division within a division (Kerzner, 2013). As, the project manager assembles, his or her team for carrying out their project, the company must also plan a process to take to make the adjustment and manufacture a larger bike. Although same process in making the smaller bike, the larger bike would require more knowledge of the larger motor, adequate space for this manufacturing, and equipment, so that this does not hold up production of existing bike. The facility could be identical to the existing one, only requiring larger equipment for the larger engine. Marketing of this bike would be a strong focus for upper level management. This new, larger bike is focused on a market of males, between the ages of thirty-five to sixty years of age, and income ranges from $55,000-$100,000. With the market defined, a strategy has to be developed, this goes from “start-up and completion phases of the project” (Kerzner, 2013). This is something that consists of advertisement......
