Andris Biedrins fouled out at preseason game.
Andris Biedrins is now the only basketball player in NBA(National Basketball Association) from Latvia who is now playing for Utah Jazz. Last game against Oklahoma City Thunder he got fouled out and Utah lost the game. He played 13 minutes and 12 seconds in that time he got six fouls, one rebound, blocked one shot and got one turnover. He was the only one from his team who got fouled out. Why Biedrins is playing so bad for few of last seasons?
Biedrins has a contract for one more year for nine million dollars. This seasons Goldenstate Warriors traded him to Utah Jazz that is obvious why – because of his playing level. Last season was the worst in his nine year carrier. It is realy interesting why? Because at 2008./2009. season he was one of the best playing centers in the whole league. But now he is one of the worst. This happened after Goldenstate Warriors drafted Stephen Curry and Monte Ellis at 2009./2010. season who where leaders of the whole team and everybody forgot about Biedrins. Now Biedrins os one of the most overpaid players in the league. Andris is a good player if you trust him, he is now psychologically down and needs to be motivated. It is realy sad to see him now how he is playing and remembering how he had played befour. Last season when both other centers in Goldenstate Warriors were sick Biedrins played 35 minutes got 25 points and 20 rebounds. It was a huge supprise for everybody and it means that there is something still in him that he can show. Couch’s just has to trust him. It is realy a question if Biedrins will play for next season in NBA. After all he is able to come back home and play for any of Latvia’s teams, they will be happy to make an offer to him or maybe some European basketball club could make an offer to him. Andris is still able to play and show something worth on the court. It is realy dissapointing to hear that plenty of people has lost there trust in him.
At the end I would like to say that I hope that Biedrins will have a great season this year and will continue his carrier at NBA, that means getting another contract. I hope he will show that he has still something in him and is able to play a good game and that there is still people that has not lost trust in him.…...

...contexts and can be imprecise. Instead, terms such as 'pathological gambling' or 'substance abuse' are used in the diagnosis of addiction related diseases. Video Game Addiction Researchers have explored the notion of video game addiction since the mid eighties, however the research on the topic is disparate and preliminary. Research is accelerating now. Due to the abovementioned shortfalls of the term 'addiction', the phenomnon has also been referred to in research by other prefixes and suffixes such as excessive, intemperate, overuse, pathological, compulsive and problematic. Researchers turned attention to the topic after reports surfaced of arcade gamers becoming alarmingly preoccupied with gaming and displaying anti-social behaviours to support play, including stealing to fund play and neglecting social responsibilities such as school or work. It is yet to be determined how severe the negative consequences are of video game addiction, compared to other syndromes which have research more research attention. Pathological Gambling Applied to Video Game Addiction It is useful to illustrate how behavioural addiction has been studied by first looking at pathological gambling. Pathological gambling is an example of a behavioural addiction, and is also the model most used to explore excessive video game play. Pathological gambling is well recognised by medical authorities and it has a diagnosis in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (or DSM,......

Out Out

...A young man is cutting firewood with a buzz saw in New England. Near the end of the day, the boy’s sister announces that it is time for dinner and, out of excitement, the boy accidentally cuts his hand with the saw. He begs his sister not to allow the doctor to amputate the hand but inwardly realizes that he has already lost too much blood to survive. The boy dies while under anesthesia, and everyone goes back to work. Analysis Frost uses the method of personification to great effect in this poem. The buzz saw, though technically an inanimate object, is described as a cognizant being, aggressively snarling and rattling as it does its work. When the sister makes the dinner announcement, the saw demonstrates that it has a mind of its own by “leaping” out of the boy’s hand in its excitement. Frost refuses to lay blame for the injury on the boy, who is still a “child at heart.” In addition to blaming the saw, Frost blames the adults at the scene for not intervening and telling the boy to “call it a day” before the accident occurred. Had the boy received an early excuse from the workday, he would have avoided cutting off his hand and would have been saved from death. Moreover, a mere half-hour break from his job would have allowed the boy to regain part of his childhood, if only for a moment. Frost’s emphasis on the boy’s passivity and innocence in this situation is particularly significant in the context of the time period. After moving to England with his family,......

To Be in or to Be Out

...Carolyn Lemon-Lewis Robert Lang English 111 11 July 2014 To Be out or To Be In “The church in the United States has strongly resisted the movement to legalize same-sex marriage, arguing that it would legitimize intrinsically evil homosexual acts (Pope Francis). The religious leaders are opposes same-sex marriage because the Bible states evidence to support their belief. Same-sex marriage on the religious perspective. There are several scripture that supports why same-sex marriage is against God. However, the first scripture: “God created man in His image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them; and God said to them,' Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth”(Genesis 1:27-28). God did not create man and man, woman and woman He created male and female to recreate the earth. How can a male and male recreate, and the Bible does not say anything about adoption. It clearly states, “be fruitful and multiply.” The very first mention of sexual immorality was when two messengers from God had come to visit Lot. All the young and old men came to Lot house and asked for the two strangers to come out, so they could do to them whatever they wanted to do, but Lot beg the crowd to take his daughters. And the angels blinded all the men young and old. This was the reason God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah,......

Out, Out-

...How does Frost create a sense of horror in his poem ‘Out, Out-‘ Frosts creates a sense of horror in his poem ‘Out, Out-‘through his use of repetition and the use of caesura and figurative speech. Frost concentrates also on the apparent innocence and passivity of the boy. "Out, Out-" is a poem by American poet Robert Frost, published in 1916. It tells the story of a young boy who dies after his hand is severed by a "saw”. This poem was apparently based on a true story. The title ‘Out, Out-‘is an allusion to William Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth ‘out, out-brief candle’, it refers to how unpredictable and fragile life is like a candle is being blown out. To begin, Personification is used in line 1 personification is used to make the buzz saw more horrifying. ‘The buzz saw snarled and rattled in the yard’. This creates an image of a monster, something dangerous and has a mind of its own The use of personification continues into line 8’ as it ran or had to bear a load’ this shows the reader how destructive this buzz saw is and how effortless it is at it, this also extends the metaphor. Also in line 16 ‘leaped out at the boy’s hand, or seemed to leap-’the saw is still personified and therefore adds horror to this line, the use of the word ‘at’ is emphasized here, like a vicious creature the buzz saw leaped out at the boy’s hand, making it seem like the boy lost all control and is helpless. Also the use of caesura is particularly effective in this part of the poem as it adds......

...Game Time What is a commercial? A commercial is a paid advertisement on television or radio, or something related to doing business or for business purpose. I think without commercials a lot of things would not be sold in this world. When would be the best time to let everyone know what businesses are selling, the Super Bowl? In most commercials I think they use sex to sell or catch our attention to see what they are selling. As I watched the Super Bowl there was a lot of commercials and most of them if not all was advertising to sell something. One commercial that caught my attention was a coca-cola commercial. I think it was selling a lot and also showing that this product has been around for a long time. In this commercial to me it showed that the world has diversity by showing that different cultures also love to drink this product. Seeing that would make me want to buy their product because to me it shows that it’s not just one culture that buys this product and also it wants everyone to be satisfied with their product. This commercial also sold me by showing a family spending time together and really it looks like they’re enjoying the time their spending together drinking a soda that everyone in the family enjoys. It also shows that this product is good to have during a gathering because it seems so refreshing. Another thing this commercial used to sell this product was bright colors to catch the eye. It was showing that family should spend more time together. A......

...For hundreds of years game animals have been hunted throughout the world. Deer, elk, rabbit, squirrel, ducks, geese and wild turkeys are hunted in the United States. Unregulated hunting has seriously threatened some species of wildlife. Here are a few examples. Herds of buffalo that once numbered in the millions were nearly wiped out by hunters in the 19th century. They were killed for enjoyment and profit. By 1895 only 400 remained in the United States. In the west pronghorn and deer populations were nearly wiped out to feed the growing population. Some game birds such as the passenger pigeon were hunted to extinction. After all of these animal populations were decimated some people began to take notice. The general public caused some states to pass laws protecting some animals. The government also started to set aside land for national parks and wildlife refuges. In 1872 Ulysses S. Grant signed a bill that created Yellowstone National Park. This was the first ever national park. Several other national parks were created shortly after. Other laws were passed to set dates for hunting seasons and set bag limits. These laws also outlawed inhumane hunting methods. Once protected by laws and regulations game animals began to flourish. The spreading of human settlements also helped animals flourish. The settlers killed off predatory animals like wolves and grizzly bears. The animals that spread the most were elk and deer. These animals spread so rapidly that the area they were...

Basketball: the Teaching of the Game.

...Vin Smith Professor King ENG 100 21 October 2015 Basketball: The teaching of the game. Basketball is one of the world’s most popular sports. Basketball is a sport played by two teams’ and their task is to shoot the ball through a circular rim, with a net hanging from it. Each team has five players and they play on a rectangular court having two baskets on both ends. The regulation basketball hoop consists of a rim or basket attached to a backboard. A team scores by shooting the ball through the net. A player scores 2 points if they shoot the ball and make the shot within the three point line and 3 points if they shoot the ball outside the three- point line. In order to play the game, players have to know the rules, the fouls of the game, and the regulation of the game. First, there are rules that all teams must follow to make the go smooth. The ball advances on the court either by dribbling while running or walking, or by passing from one player to another. Dribbling means to bounce to bounce the ball with your hands. However, it is against the rules not to dribble the ball while moving, to double dribble, or to carry it. Double dribbling means to hold the ball with both hands and then dribble the ball with both hands. A player should not step with both of their feet or this will be called traveling. If the player’s hand is under the ball and then they start to dribble the ball, then this will be carrying. A player cannot hit the ball with their fist or kick the ball......

When Is a Game No Longer a Game

...When is a Game No Longer a Game? Joel AJ Parker Northwood University Video games are becoming a huge part of a person’s life nowadays, especially children. It is no longer the world of board and card games. Many people would argue that video games do not allow a person to use their imagination. However, Will Wright would beg to differ. Wright believes that video games now allow a person to use their imagination to create their own scenarios and customize a “new life” within a game. However, I believe that he would agree that the video game world could be evolving to a point where they are no longer making “games”. There is a controversial online “game” that has the title of Second Life. Some might ask when a game stops being a game? What is the limit for reality in a video game or is there even a limit? There is a certain limit to the reality of a video game; it should no longer be a video game when a person can consider it their second life. Second Life is a computer game that is a virtual world. It allows the gamer to enter a world and design an avatar for the “game’s” virtual world. The game allows players to purchase land, property, cars, and clothing as well as other real life amenities. It is unlike other virtual worlds because it allows for the player to profit from the game; it seems to take over their actual life. Second Life allows the player to convert their “Linden Dollars” into cash via a PayPal account. They are allowed to sell their creations in the......

Szendrey, Walsh University, jszendrey@walsh.edu ABSTRACT Playing video games has become one of the largest leisure activities in the world. This study examines the effects video games have on college students, their grade point averages, time management, and study habits. Existing literature has linked video game usage as being negatively correlated with each of these three variables. This research, using a sample of the undergraduate student population at a private university in northeast Ohio, found a statistically significant correlation between video game usage and grade point average. Statistically significant relationships were not found between video game usage and the variables of time management skills or study habits. It is important that college students are aware of these possible negative effects of video game usage on their academic performance. This research can serve as a foundation for future research on the impact of video game playing and student performance. Keywords: Videogames, GPA, Study Habits, Time Management Skills, Student Performance INTRODUCTION The video game industry has flourished to become the world’s......

...Video Games First off, you would imagine how thrilled our team was to have to write a paper during the holidays, with a deadline just two days after the winter break, so we came up with a clever way to bypass all the research work needed and just start writing about things we already knew and also loved doing, in order to grasp a more subjective approach on the chosen topic. People often say that if you don’t truly believe in the things you are working on and don’t have fun whilst doing them, you won’t be successful in any of your endeavors. This means you have to work with passion, because the first person you are ultimately going to sell the idea of the finished product is yourself, and if you can’t fully embrace the concept, it’s going to be even harder to pitch it to someone else. That being said, we quickly searched for a topic that each member of our team could relate to, and also provide valuable insight upon his experience and personal preferences on the subject at hand. In the end we settled on the topic of video games, due to the wide variety available these days. Figure 1. Pacman machine Figure 1. Pacman machine The first ever commercially produced video games were arcade games back in the early ‘70s in the United States, and I think we all remember in movies those huge machines that took up quite a lot of space in pubs, where people could play games such as Pacman, Space Invaders or Donkey Kong. They were very successful and in fact,......

Video games are a large and growing market. However, within it, there are only selected portions that contain venture capital investment opportunities. Our analysis highlights these sectors, which are interesting for reasons including significant technological change, high growth rates, new product development and lack of a clear market leader. The opportunity lies in non-core products and services. We believe that the core hardware and game software markets are fairly mature and require intensive capital investment and strong technology knowledge for success. The best markets for investment are those that provide valuable new products and services to game developers, publishers and gamers themselves. These are the areas that will build out the industry as it undergoes significant growth. • A Quick Snapshot of Our Identified Areas of Interest • Online Games and Platforms. Few online games have historically been venture funded and most are subject to the same “hit or miss” market adoption as console games, but as this segment grows, an......
