...my classes at an early age, but during the transition into high school things took a turn.  My mom owned her own restaurant and it took up most of her time, and in turn, I pretty much didn’t get the proper guidance.  We moved around a lot and I didn’t have any type of stability.  She was a single parent and I was a child that demanded attention.  It got to the point where I didn’t bother to do much of my school work and eventually started acting out by under-performing academically.  By sophomore year I came to realize that I needed to take control of my life and take action to fix the mess that I had created.  Problems at home continued to persist, while I began to strive towards a more beneficial lifestyle. I realized that I wanted more out of life and that if I was ever to get anywhere I had to take full control now. My first course of action was speaking with my counselor to weigh out my options. Basically, in order for me to graduate with my class and on time, I needed to go through a home studies program.  This would allow to me to make up for lost time and complete all of my assignments on time to meet the graduating credits. Although getting back into doing school work was a little challenging for me, I continued to stick through finishing my responsibilities. Eventually, I decided to move out and live a life on my own by junior year, which made my journey even more difficult. Trying to finish school and working to pay rent was something not too many people my......

...textbook as a pillow does not benefit students, discovering 10% of students are late everyday. High schools all over the country have found that students benefit from schools starting no earlier than 8:30. Therefore, High schools need to start at least 30 minutes later in the day to help students and the teachers. Sleeping is as important as eating, sleeping is apart of everyones life. It is impossible to live and function without sleep because your brain needs to rejuvenate and recover the energy. while it may be obvious that sleep is beneficial, most people don't realize how much sleep they need and why its important. After a good nights sleep, you feel better and can think clearer Having to wake up at 7 am messes with students academic performances in class from being so tired. Students have been shown to get better grades when school starts later. When students are rested they are less aggressive and more cooperative. Getting more sleep allow students to participate and more extra-curricular actives, homework and studying. Teachers, on average don't sleep as late as students, but starting school early gives them less time to prepare for their classes. Teachers could come to the school around 7 a.m now only having 30 minutes to prepare for the day, however when moving the start time for students back to 9 a.m they then get almost two hours of preparatory time for school day. your sarcasm is unattractive...

The After

...The After- life is an area of human consciousness we all enter upon leaving the physical world at physical death. Throughout history we’ve questioned if there is a life after death. Along the way, our religions and various philosophers offered beliefs and opinion to answer this commonly asked question. However, many of the answers contradict each other making it hard to figure out. “Belief in life after death is a source of personal security, optimism, and spiritual betterment”. Nothing offers more courage than the confidence that there is a better life for those who use the present to prepare for eternity. While some believe it’s impossible to know whether there is life after death, belief in immortality is a timeless phenomenon. Through the years there have been many philosophers that do not believe in life after death. Among them is David Hume. David Hume was a British imperialist to the extreme. He only believed in what he could see. He felt that if you can’t see your soul or god then they must not exist. The same holds true for the afterlife, or heaven. He felt that when you died that was it, your life was over and there was nothing more. Buddhist’s also do not believe in life after death meaning heaven. Buddhist believes that when one dies he is reborn again and this continues until the person reaches Nirvana. “The properly ultimate goal for man, no matter how much he may line his way through birth-death by flower beds of temporary betterment or pleasure, is to......

After High School

...Essay After high school, when I first started college I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do with my life at the time, but I had planned to be a business man of some sort and get my degree in business, then I realized that in today’s economy most new businesses are not that successful, plus you need money to actually start up a business on your own. So I did some thinking and have decided to get my degree in science and become a pharmacist. The reason I choose this field is because they get paid quite a bit annually, they are in demand as well as doctors and physicians assistants, so you wouldn’t have to worry about losing your job due to having too many of them. If I go through with becoming a Pharmacist, I would want to work at a big building of some sort, for example, a hospital, or somewhere besides a drugstore like Walgreens or CVS. The only thing as of now that I wouldn’t like about being a pharmacist is the fact they have to stand on their feet most of the day, which I wouldn’t mind if I could actually walk around to different areas of my workplace. Also the fact that what they do is going to be the same every day. If I decided not to become a pharmacist, I would probably think about being a physician’s assistant. My reason for that is because they also get paid well, you could learn and experience a variety of different things in that type of work, and their duties can change on certain days since they are assisting the actual physician. I don’t like the fact that...

Well that sounds like the similar situation I am dealing with in my present-day life. After school, I must tend to all of my many responsibilities. Since I have so many responsibilities, time is subtracted from my personal life and activities. Of all the responsibilities, school takes the most time every weekday. Waking up early in the morning, cleansing your body, getting dressed, and leaving on time are some of the responsibilities before school. But what happens after school? Well that’s the major responsibilities that are highly important. The in-school work is mostly based on the homework. This activity takes hard work, determination, and concentration. Depending on your work ethic you can accomplish the goal of finishing faster. Eschewing distractions is a sign of determination and will improve your concentration. By improving your concentration, you may be able to work hard. Chores are activities that are next on my list of responsibilities. Compared to homework, chores are the least time consuming responsibilities. Never the less, its still time consuming. This daily task is various in time length its also which activity I perform. After School Programs

...After School Programs Helping Kids Succeed 1,565 Words Parents now-a-days spend a lot of time working, and when they’re kids get out of school they have nowhere to go but an empty, unsupervised house. A lot of the time when kids are left alone for a long period of time, they tend to get in some trouble; whether it’s with their friends outside of the house, or alone at home. Many parents may not have the time or money to send their kids to a day care program, so they can’t really do anything about it. But many schools have the choice whether or not to have after school programs but decide not to because they don’t want to keep their school open after hours. It isn’t just the school’s decision though; it also depends on whether the school has the money to keep them open or not. According to USA Today: “Tight local budgets and reduced federal funding for police, along with new anti-terrorism duties, have stretched police departments and led to cuts in community programs for youths.” All kids need a safe place to be after school, even if it’s for study hall or a quiet place where they could do their homework. After school programs can help children a lot and in many ways. They have an impact on kids because it gives them something to do and it provides them with positive role models. Some of the ways that after school programs can help children is by giving them a safe and supportive learning environment after school, opportunities to experience new activities in arts,......

After School Plans

...Jon Martin As a high school sophomore, I know that school can be very stressful. I have to balance between extracurricular, activities such as band, orchestra, or drama, and school work. This can make it very challenging to maintain a high GPA. Unfortunately, some people don’t want to go to college because they think it will just be four more years like high school. Both my mom and dad are professors so I know a lot about what goes on at a college or university. I can tell you right now that college can be one of the best experiences of your life, and before you go out into the world it is probably a good idea to be educated beyond secondary school. One of the biggest arguments against a college education is not being able to go work when you turn eighteen. Many people believe that this will cause them to fall behind and not be able save up enough money. A college education will let you “skip the line” and start working with better jobs, in better places, with better conditions, and on top of that, the unemployment rates for high school graduates have increased to 8.1% in the last year (“Value of a Degree”). The bottom line is that better jobs come from a better education. A huge perk of going to college is learning to be independent. In the real world there isn’t someone serving you and doing things for you, so it is important to learn how to take care of yourself and be responsible for yourself. When you turn eighteen, you are......

...6 Things You Should Not Expect After High School 6 Things You Should Not Expect After High School 1.      A 8-5 job after graduation Seriously? Face the reality. Being a graduate is not a free pass to get a job. You won’t get a job either you’re Master or PhD student, nope cause your school is just a school. There’re lecturers and professors but they won’t promise you a job. All they did was pumping students in order to get you educated but not get you a job yet they’re still doing it. Yes, take or leave it. You won’t get better than this. 2.     High Salary You have your own expertise. You might a statistician, a doctor or maybe an engineer. But remember this, don’t let high salary history derails you job search because you won’t get it, unless you’re a son of big boss. Are you? Most people don’t. 3.     Be a boss Do you really want to be a boss? Well, your degrees won’t take you there, believe it or not, that’s the reality of life. You don’t just be a boss since you know the Pythagoras theorem. Fuck Pythagoras theorem. You won’t be a boss of such a big company because they’re already having their own targets. He might be someone who has a big leverage or clout so that your company will stand stronger and longer. 4.     Hang out with your best pals Three things in life once you lost are hard to build-up; friends, respect and trust. You’ll face it because I’ve faced it too and I think I’ve made it. Sometimes in life, you will think that you do not need anyone...

After

...After watching the video of the Student Resource Officer Deputy Ben Fields and the South Carolina student, I believe there are some valid reasons why this instance occurred. One reason being the teacher saw the student on her cell phone and asked her to put her phone away because there were no cell phones allowed in the class. This student defied the teachers order and continued to disrupt the class. The teacher asked her to leave and she refused therefore, the teacher called the assistant principal and again the student refused to leave the classroom. At this point the assistant principal called the SRO Deputy Ben Fields to contain the situation. Deputy Fields came into the classroom and spoke to the 16-year-old first stating “I treat you fair last year, right” the 16-year-old responded “I don’t know you.” Deputy Fields responded “you don’t know me? Deputy Fields then stated to the 16-year-old “I need you to come with me or I’m gonna make you.” The 16-year-old is heard saying “no” and Deputy Fields is also heard saying “C’mon, I am gonna get you up.” Deputy Fields, the teacher, and the assistant principal were all trying to get this 16-year-old to cooperate with them but she refused to obey with authority. Deputy Fields was allowed to use force because of this 16-year-old non-cooperation with authority. The Sheriff Lott, is quoted saying a student disrupts a classroom, disrupts the education process as well. When teachers are not allowed to teach, students cannot learn.......

After- School Jams

...SCOPE Introduction Nightlife or after-school jam is the collective term for any amusement that is available and more popular from the late evening to the early morning. Nightlife includes the public houses, night clubs, discotheques, bars, live music, concert, shows and sometimes restaurant that has cover charge for admission, and make their money on alcoholic beverages. Nightlife was supposed to be oriented for adults, but nowadays, teenagers preferably high school students are also engaged in this kind of verve. The effects of after- school jams of students has not been well examined. There has been no previous study that focuses on the effect of after- school jams in the academic performances of students. The tracking of academic performance fulfils a number of purposes. Areas of achievement and failure in a student's academic career need to be evaluated in order to foster improvement and make full use of the learning process. On this premise, this study was conducted. It was designed primarily to provide a view of the level of academic performance of students and its relationship with their preferred after- school jam. The researchers believed that preferred after- school jams of the students influence their academic performance. Thus, the determining of academic performance and frequency of their after- school jams is indeed imperative. Hopefully, the result of this study will serve as a basis for the correlation of after- school jams and academic performance of......

...Schools should hold the responsibility of teaching students facts as well as moral issues. It is crucial to have educators such as teacher to guide their students to make the correct moral choices. Then we will have a reduction in the amount of criminal activities. A good morality within the citizens is the key to a healthy society. Moralities can be taught just like knowledge. Since the day we were born, our parents have been teaching us what are the rights and wrongs. It is important to keep up this education because as we grow up, our mind becomes more complex. When we reach teenage, we are facing many difficult choices like studying, relationships, and drugs. If we make a wrong decision, the result will most likely to be on the street or become part of the gang violence, which destroys the moral of our society. Without a good morality in society, our life would be very insecure. I recall having learnt about the diseases associated with smoking and drugs when I was in grade 6 at elementary school. The presenter displayed many astonishing facts and personal experiences. For example, up to ninety percent of all male drugs abusing students in high schools will be involved in street gang violence. Moreover, these students’ life span will be shortened by at least thirty percent due to the diseases and violence associated. Despite these fearful facts, there are many naïve teenagers who think of smoking and drugs are “cool”. These students are wrong to ignore the guidance of......
