The honorable Ed Harbison

Atlanta, GA 30334

Dear Senator Harbison, My name is Bertha and I am a registered nurse who lives and work in Columbus, GA. I am writing to alert you to a serious health issue in Georgia, especially Columbus Ga. Alarming numbers of adults are been diagnosed with diabetes yearly. As a nurse, my concern is the long term effects of uncontrolled diabetes on patients. Some of the long term effects are blood vessel damage, nerve damage, kidney failure and blindness just to mention a few. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in Georgia. Between 2000 and 2013, there were 223,924 diabetes-related hospitalizations in Georgia. More than 1 in 10 Georgia adults has diabetes, or more than a million people. Diabetes was the seventh leading cause of death in Georgia in 2006. In 2008, approximately 707,000 adults aged 18 years and older (10.1% of the Georgia adult population) reported that they had been diagnosed with diabetes (equivalent to one in seven Georgians). In 2006, there were 15,593 hospitalizations where diabetes was the principal diagnosis resulting in over $288 million hospital charges. Cost of diabetes medical care = $11,744 vs. $5,095 for a person without diabetes. Adult diabetes rate for our county (Muscogee) is 12% compared to 10.4% statewide and these numbers for our county is alarming. Most adults living with diabetes do not check their blood glucose level as often as they need to due to poverty and lack of insurance. Without testing their glucose levels, they will not be able to manage it effectively causing all these complications. In view of this, I will like you to consider supporting a regulation that will provide free glucometers and all accompanied supplies and the necessary education to all patients with diabetes and newly diagnosed patients. I am willing to help…...

Policy Letter

...Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo San Luis Obispo, CA 93410-2500 Subject: Party Registration Policy and Guidelines Concerns Dear Dr. DeCosta, As a first year student here at Cal Poly, I realize that partying and drinking is an immense part of the college culture. Being away from the restraints of parents and having the freedom of an adult allows a college student to experiment new things and do whatever he or she pleases. Unfortunately, many college students exceed their limits resulting in severe consequences such as alcohol poisoning and even death. The majority of these incidents do happen at Cal Poly’s Fraternities and Sorority parties, so I understand that it is best for the safety of our fellow Mustangs to reduce risky activities. Evaluating the new Party Registration Policy and Guidelines, I see how this policy was written for the best intentions of preventing dangerous activities during affiliated parties and I completely agree that our school needs to action. However, I feel that this policy is too restricting and is unfair in the Greek system’s favor. Some of the requirements to hold a party are impossible to control and there are too many details that can be overlooked. Even though these rules are mandatory, the affiliated organizations are not going to sign this which shows that the efforts made by admin were useless. If this policy was established, how is the school going to manage all house parties at all the fraternities and......

New Analysis of Risks Related to Compensation for All Employees. A company must discuss its policies and practices for compensating all employees (not just the named executive officers) as they relate to risk management practices and risk-taking incentives to the extent that risks arising from these policies and practices are reasonably likely to have a material adverse effect on the company. 1 RR DONNELLEY Report Aggregate Grant Date Fair Value of Stock Options and Stock Awards in Summary Compensation Table and Director Compensation Table. In a change that may affect which executive officers (other than the always included CEO and CFO) appear in the Summary Compensation Table, companies must disclose in the Summary Compensation Table and Director Compensation Table the value of stock options and stock awards granted during the year based on the aggregate grant date fair value of awards, instead of the value recognized for......

...November carjacking.[5] Trial and appeals The 26-year-old victim picked out Dupree and Massingill from a police lineup, but her male companion did not. Dupree was charged with armed robbery and rape, but was never tried on the rape charge. In 1980, he was convicted and sentenced to 75 years in prison for aggravated robbery. Three of Dupree's appeals were rejected by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.[1] Two of the appeals were denied because he refused to admit to being a sex offender.[6] He declined early release in 2004 in exchange for attending a treatment program for offenders because he felt it would have amounted to admitting guilt.[4] Dupree later said, "Whatever your truth is, you have to stick with it."[6] Dupree continued to write letters to people and organizations around the state in his bid to prove his innocence.[7] Exoneration In 2006, the Innocence Project took Dupree's case and carried out a forensic examination of the case evidence in 2010.[1] He was represented by a legal team that included project co-founder Barry Scheck.[8] Dupree was paroled in July 2010 and married his longtime fiancée Selma Perkins the day after his release.[6] Soon afterwards,[1] test results indicated that the evidence contained DNA from two men, but not Dupree nor Massingill.[4] Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins stated, "Our Conviction Integrity Unit thoroughly reinvestigated this case, tested the biological evidence and based on the results, concluded Cornelius......

...Letter Dear Mr. President, Civic and political participation is important for citizens because everyone has the responsibility to stand up for what they believe in. Citizens in America enjoy writing letters to important leaders to receive informative feedback on their thoughts. Citizen’s words effect how the laws change in many ways, for example, by voting. Eleanor Roosevelt influenced change through speaking about civil rights. ER was committed to standing up for African American rights. She was so active in racial injustice that the FBI had a 4000 page dossier about ER pertaining to her civil rights activities. “J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI, even speculated that "Negro blood" inspired ER's perverse behavior.” “She was considered America's most influential First Lady, she started new paths for women and led the battle for social justice everywhere. Today she is still a powerful inspiration to leaders in both the civil rights and women's movements. Eleanor shattered the usual submissive mold that the role of the First Lady had traditionally been fashioned, and reshaped it around her own skills and her commitment to social reform. She gave a voice to people who did not have power.” Others benefit from ER’s actions by getting all the credit that she stood up for women and their rights. If it wasn’t for Eleanor’s contributions we women would not get all the credit that we deserve. Eleanor Roosevelt’s deserves a holiday that would celebrate her and all her......

...Alexus Harris January 26, 2010 History 114 2:00 - 2:30 p.m Willie Lynch Letter: The Making of a Slave In the first paragraph of the Willie Lynch Letter introduction, he started thanking the men of the colony of Virginia for inviting him to the bank of the James River. Mr. Lynch was making the men of the plantation think that, installing the chip into the slaves will make everything run easily. He also stated that if the chip were implant into the minds of slaves, Ancient Rome would envy us as black people. Personally, I think the only reason that the Ancient Rome will envy us as slaves, because we let a method of the chip control our mind, body, soul, values, and beliefs. Mr. Lynch also stated that negative differences are better then positive differences. Just think about it. Why? Would Distrust be better then Trust, this is setting our slaves up to be lynch in my eyes. As a slave, you want freedom so; you are going to want your master to trust you so that you can escape. Mr. Lynch finally, said that over time if you constantly used the method for one year, then slaves will already no what they are expecting to perform. In the paragraph “Let’s Make a Slave,” it was focusing on the process of man breaking and slave making. This means that installing the chip into our black men will allow them to become more of a servant that helps the white man lynch other slaves. It also focused on human nature, and slave nature. Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City RE: Letter of explanation in relation to Notice of Gap dated November 16, 2015 Dear Sir Jude, I am writing you this letter in response to the Notice of Gap you sent me on November 16, 2015 giving me five (5) calendar days from receipt or until November 21, 2015 to submit a written explanation regarding the matters it indicated. From the start of my work, it was already a process that deliveries can be received even without a Purchase Order in order to cope up with the company quota and/or commitments. Please see printed email as attachment on the practices wherein there are deliveries that were received even without Purchase Order which will then be process and paid after the accreditation process as my Annex “A.” During our Mid-Year Dialogue Discussion, a “No P.O., No Delivery” Policy was communicated to us. However, there was no clear-cut scheme on how to address the implementation of this policy in relation to the monthly quotas that are given to us. Despite the lack of implementing procedures, I immediately stop the previous practices through advising the suppliers in compliance with the newly established policy. For the subject account namely MC Selma Agriwaste Supply, I was surprised to receive this Notice of Gap. The notice dealt with the receipt of the deliveries from MC Selma with no purchase order.......

Health Policy Letter

...Health Policy Letter Prepared Remarks: J. Jones, M.S.N., R.N. Compliance Officer, Impact Medical Group Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Program February 1, 2015 Impact Medical Group (IMG) has for several years been advocating for a Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) program to create a safer culture within healthcare. Healthcare workers have been consistently identified by the United States Bureau of Statistics, based on the information from the Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as having one of the most dangerous of all jobs in the United States (Fitzpatrick, 2014). The most frequent injury within this field is muscle strains and sprains to the back and shoulder during patient handling. Research-based evidence shows that lifting/handling tasks are physically demanding actions and result in injury and pain (Fitzpatrick, 2014). This is because of the frequency they are carried out and the weight involved. Spinal loading when performing various patient lifting tasks has been researched. No technique, including two-person lifting, was found to be safe (Fitzpatrick, 2014). The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recently reviewed a lifting formula from the perspective of manual handing of patients. It concluded that the maximum weight for lifting in patient handling tasks was thirty-five pounds (Fitzpatrick, 2014). Currently, OSHA does not have a specific regulation about ergonomic......

Policy Letter to Mayor

...the guidance and the right support to do so. I honestly feel like even when the kids are placed in foster care there is no love given or inspiration towards the kids. This makes the kids not look forward to the future and start thinking less of themselves. There should be something done that can help these kids be better by support. I have been doing some research and there is others out there that do feel the same way as I do. Many children's rights advocates would argue the government isn't doing enough to address the concerns of aging out in the foster care system. For instance Misty Stenslie, Deputy Director of Foster Care Alumni of America, a community of former children in foster care that works to transform foster care practice and policy, spent about 12 years in foster care. She lived in about 30 different places which included kinship care (relatives), group homes, foster homes, therapeutic foster homes, psychiatric facilities, and correctional facilities. Stenslie says she was always bouncing from one place to the next, and over the years had hundreds of people that were responsible for her. "A social worker here, a judge there, hundreds of different people over the years, and yet somehow even with all those people looking out for me and taking care of me, I aged out with no family at all," Stenslie said. "On Tuesday you're a kid and somebody's there to take care of you, and on Wednesday you're an adult; and nobody's there." As Stenslie puts it, "once you hit that......

The Letter a

...I constructed the letter A. The way I built my letter resembled an isoceles triangle. My letter has two sides that are the same length and two of base angles are the same in length. The definintion of an isoceles triangle is a triangle with two sides of equal length and two congruent base angles. The letter A I built and isoceles triangle are almost a perfect match. Another geometry concept that connectes with my letter, A was an acute angle. An acute angle is an angle that is less than 90 degrees. The triangle inside the letter A I constructed has an acute angle. The triangle has 3 angles that are acute all are less than 90 degrees and will add up to 180 degrees. The final concept I thought my letter connects with is parallel lines. The two lines in the center of the letter A are parallel to eachother, the two lines will never cross eachother or intersect. Parallel lines are lines in a plane that will not touch, cross, or intersect even when the lines are extended. The two lines in the center are not the only ones that are parallel to each other, the one line on top of my letter and the other thats on the bottom are also parallel. Those are the three geometry concepts I thought my letter connected with. My first semester of geometry did not go as well as I would have liked it to go. I failed most of the tests and quizzes because I was not responsible and did not do the homework assigned and study the reviews given. Despite all my failures this semester I always went to......
