In today’s rapidly changing health care industry, the components of management are becoming more important. As the department head of the marketing team of a health care center, I must be able to facilitate all the marketing needs by planning, organizing, leading and controlling. In order to be a part of the successful marketing department, I must establish the knowledge and expertise in order to follow through on all four of these functions. These functions of management are extremely important when building strong organizations, effective teams and team leaders. These four functions must be performed by all managers regardless of their individual title or the task they are handling. These managerial skills are used daily by our managerial staff at CHCC Health Care Centers. In any managerial position, whether it is an administrator, director of nursing, or an individual department head, CHCC managers utilize all four functions in their daily tasks. I will address each function as well as how they relate to CHCC Corporation, in which I was employed, and the role in which each function plays in most corporations.

Operations Function and Other Function

...1. Introduction An organization’s operations function is concerned with getting things done i.e. producing goods and/or services for customers. Effectively, the main objective of the operations function is to produce those goods and services required by customers whilst managing resources as efficiently as possible. 2. RELATINSHIP WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTIONS The operations function lies at the heart of any organization and interacts with all the other functions. Although the various organizational functions involve different activities, they must interact to achieve the goals of the organization. This therefore implies that Operation Management decisions are not made in isolation. Rather, each decision is intertwined with other organizational functions following the strategic direction developed at the top level of the organization. In a nutshell, many of the decisions made by operations managers are dependent on information from the other functions. At the same time, other functions cannot be carried out properly without information from operations as detailed below: 1. Finance: The finance function ties all departments together with monetary measurements that tell whether the company is making money. They also regulate the acquisition of funds to keep the business operations going, and investing money received wisely. Finance managers need to work closely with the operations function to be able to determine the need for capital......

...oversees the work activities of others so that their activities are completed efficiently and effectively. I will explain each areas function and there importance in the managerial process. I will conclude with an example of how a manager would use each function in the workplace. According to Robbins & Coulter (2007), they state that, “during the early part of the twentieth century, Henri Fayol, a French industrialist, first proposed that all managers performed five functions: planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating, and controlling” (p.8). Today these functions have been revised to planning, organizing, leading and controlling. The planning function, involves defining the goals of the company, researching and collecting data to help support those goals. Once you have gathered your information the manager must make decisions on what should be done. After evaluating the information, a good manager begins to organize the people and resources available. Organizing involves arranging and structuring work to accomplish the organization’s goals stated by, (Robbins & Coulter, .p 9). Leading involves implementing the plans and helping employees work effectively toward accomplishing the organizational goals. The final function of management is controlling, which consist of evaluating and monitoring the results of the previous functions to determine if the objectives of the company have been met. The accomplishment of these goals lead to achieving the......

...are ( Bateman, & Snell, 2009, Ch.16.) : In the Bureaucratic form, the opposites argue that it would be great if people were robots, because this control does not take the human elements of behavior, and emotions into consideration. People usually put up strong resistance to control systems in any organization. They like to engage in trying to beat the system. This is negative behavior. Sometimes control systems can be viewed as an invasion of privacy and could lead to negative behavior, and roadblock bonding and socialization process among employees. This could also lead to a lawsuit. Financially speaking in terms of the control mechanism, it is argued that letting numbers run your business is bad sometimes because the other important functions and aspects of management go on the proverbial back burner. Human Resources, Research and Design, and other departments fade into the shadows. On the other side, there are some good reasons for the control mechanisms in a business. They are ( Bateman, & Snell, 2009, Ch.16.): Bureaucratic control can work well provided that the managers in charge, have been trained, and know their job, and have been selected to be in management because of their skills, not who they know. A company that has strong reporting in earnings and numbers are good, can lead to bigger budgets, and more quality training, the purchasing of new equipment, and more salary. Clan control helps employees meet performance Standards when they learn to embrace new cultures...

Management 4 Functions

...MANAGEMENT: Necessary Functions University of Phoenix MGT300 Management: Necessary Functions There are four main functions of management, these are planning, organizing, leading and controlling. An effective manager must be able to employ all these functions to be successful. It is also important to involve staff in decision making, this makes for more effective and efficient results. It is also imperative that you use these functions in all aspects of your career, one need not be in managment to employ these functions to be a more productive employee. In my experience as a Medi-Cal (California's version of Medicaid) supervisor for the Transitional Assistance Department I utilized all of these functions. With a department of this size and ever changing regulations it is imperative to make changes quickly and have employee "buy-in". I made an active effort to involve staff in these functions as they were the individuals that would be completing the work. I have found that employee's that are involved in the decision making process tend to carry out the changes with better efficiency and understanding of the process. This also tends to stop the bickering about changes that must be made. I recently changed positions and am now working for the State of California Department of Health Care Services in the Medi-Cal Eligibility Branch. I now am responsible for ensuring that changes or new regulations are implemented timely and accurately. This is a......

The function is shaped like a parabola. This parabola opens down. The x-axis interception point of -3x2 :( 0, 0) and the y-axis interception of -3x2 (0,0). The domain is all real number, which can be written in standard notation as D= (-∞, ∞) and R= (-∞, 0). When I plot the parabola I notice it has a vertex of (0,0). From the above I can truly this relation and is also a function as every element of the domain has one and only once value associated with it in the range and passes through the vertical line test. 4 Functions Management

...The Four Functions of Managing Tianna Logan COM/330 21 September 2011 Carolyn Harrison The Four Functions of Managing Management is an aspect of every company. Without management many workplaces may lose control of their business or functions of the job. Since society is every changing and businesses need to adapt, mangers have to acquiesce to these “new way”. They adapt by using the four functions of managing. Planning, organizing, leading and controlling are all used by managers in numerous work environments including my current workplace. The first function of managing is planning. According to Bateman and Snell (2009), “Planning is specifying the goals to be achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals.” (p.12). Planning can include analyzing, determining and one of the most important aspects delegation. “Delegation is the process of giving decision-making authority to lower-level employees.” (Camp and Simmering, 2006, p.1). It uses the “top-down approach” for employees to use their own ideas and help create better advantages within the company, to the customer, etc. (Bateman and Snell, 2009, p.12). In my company, Health Net, Inc., planning is used frequently. We as management often analyze how much revenue we receive and how we could produce more. Delegation is also a staple within the company. ...Four Functions of Management Paper Axia College University of Phoenix Management is a very important part in the function of an organization. The management process operates within four functions. These four functions are critical for the management process to operate consistently. The following will explain the four functions of management and how they affect the industry that I am in. Planning The first function of the management process is planning. “Planning is specifying the goals to be achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals.” (Bateman, 2009) One of the activities involved in planning is analyzing current and future situations. Planning also involves determining what objective the organization wants within these situations and what resources to allocate into completing these goals. Planning also provides strategic value by contributing to meeting the organizations goals. Strategic value is critical in planning the future of an organization. How planning affects my current organization Planning is a very important part in my current organization. Deciding which projects to bid and how many resources to put into acquiring projects requires planning. 4 Functions of Management Creating Bread

...In making the decision of how our company will be funding our new product of our delicious and economical mini breads, our partnership has decided that the best way for us to minimize cost and lower the production cost of our new sized breads will be to have a firm develop our product and have them license our product under there name. This will get the company a sizeable new product and will give our partnership a percentage of the gross of the sales that are made. It would not benefit our new product to borrow money from the bank, which in turn will cost us an APR that will be unable to afford and will be in debt before we start. It would not benefit our partnership to sell stock as we have yet to obtain any or don’t exactly know if . An investment banker is a sales agent who connects businesses with investors. For many people, that is the first thing that comes to mind for investing. The goal is to buy the stock, hold it for a time, and then sell the stock for more than you paid for it. A manager that understands how to do their job and can properly execute it is very valuable. Most managers have a method that they follow so they can keep the business flowing. The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Using these functions to run a business is effective and makes the business run more efficient.
